hi all am new to this game.
i am using a 600 watt hps lamps 1 off
canna a and b
and coco soil
my leaves are all turning yellow and they are in decent sized pots about 1 and 1/2 gallon in volume, they are around 12 inches tall with the light around 12 inches away, any help would be appreciated

What is your experience level? (first timer, novice, experienced...)

.5) Do you have an exhaust fan and a circulation fan? no exhaust but i do have a circulation fan

.9) Did you use peat pucks (or similar) to root clones or germinate seedlings? i used cuttings from a good source

10) Source of water? (tap, bottled or filtered) tap water and it was 7.5
11) Method of checking water ph. aquarium test kit
12) Method of adjusting water ph. ph down
13) Specific brand and N-P-K ratio for each bottle. List dosages (quantity per gallon) and current feeding schedule. coca a and b and its says 10 on my stick
14) How often are you watering between feedings, and how much per watering? every 2 days
15) Any additives or tea's? nothing
16) Are your ph levels stable, or do they fluctuate? stable once i use ph down to 6.5
17) What is your ingoing water's ph? ...your runoff ph? not tested
18) Do you foliar feed? If so, with what, how often, and at what time do you spray? no

19) Indoors or outdoors? indoors
20) What size of closet, room or hut? 6 ft square
21) What are the temps and humidity levels while lights are on? ...With lights off? 81 with lights on and 76 lights off
22) Have you seen signs of insects in the growroom? no checked for insect and all clear

its a stick that show you the food strengh and i also have a novice ph tester, ph is around 6.2.
i test the ph once the food is added and also leave it over night to settle before i do any testing, what would happen if my water was to warm??
it was at 90 farenheit but now i have set it to 70 farenheit, i feed them every 2 days and there in cocoa
You could lower the PH just a tad. But your issue is the excess heat. 90deg water holds FAR less oxygen then 70deg. So that was likely your biggest issue.Quote:

If you take pics with a phone, email them to yourself. If it's with a camera, transfer to your computer.
Then when you post a reply, there is paperclip symbol just right of the fonts, size and color tabs. Almost top dead center of the box you write in. Click that paperclip, then pic one of the five slots in the pop up. Click browse and find the pic in your computer folders. Once the pic chosen click upload.
Personally I'm not sure what temp is optimum. However I've seen many people say 68-72 ish. I could be wrong though. I just know 90 is way to high.

how often should i be watering them and will all the oxygen be gone out of my water tank now or will it be ok
There are many threads on watering schedules. I've read 15 min of flood 5 times a day with Ebb&flow. NONE at night.
Most hydro people will tell you to place some sort of circulation device in the tank, like air stones with a pump, or a power head(like one for a fish tank). This will circulate water in the tank. Thus oxygenating it.
I'm a reef tank person, and have studied that for many years. Most oxygen in the water is picked up NOT from bubbles (not much in a bubble), but from agitating surface contact with the air (lots of dissolved oxygen, water, air contact). An air stone pumping out bubbles moves a lot of water around, thus causing surface agitation. :thumbsup:
So if you don't have any circulation. Your tank can get oxygen deficient.
Also, you say the "stick" says 10. Most people test the nutes through PPM, or EC. Since none of us have a clue what "10" means. It'd likely help to break down the range. Is 10 low, med or high on the chart. Does it break down any of the individual NPK ratios? If not, what do the bottles say are the NPK ratios?
Here's a nice page I saved for plant issues, it doesn't show anything like yours. However it also doesn't talk about roasting your roots, or low oxygen CAUSED by roasting your roots.

im not using a hydroponics system i feed them using a jug out of the tank, i have got a 200 watt heater in the 100litre tank now set to 20 degrees, how much should i be giving them and how often they are about 10 inches tall so far and growth recently as slowed right down

My confusion started with you heating the water. Room temp is good. 24 hours of out gassing is what pretty much everyone does(to remove chlorine). It shouldn't sit and stagnate to long.
You should water after the top couple inches of soil dry out. Most of the time every 2-3 days depending on humidity and plant size (big plants suck it down, compared to little ones). Water just enough to see a tiny bit drain out the bottom.
I think it's time to re-pot. Your plant is 10 inches tall in a 1 gallon-ish pot. Re-pot to a 3 gallon.:thumbsup:
I posted two pics. First one was my first root bound plant, about an hour after re-pot. Second pic is a few days later after recovery.

Back to you,.. What does 10 mean?
Vancefish - he's using coco so it's a little different.
Watering coco everyday is recommended, perhaps every two days, but you don't want coco to dry out like soil. Just let it get a little "light" is how it's been described.
Also plants grown in coco like smaller pots vs. soil grows.
johnboy198 - I can only guess at the problem, it looks like a deficiency, maybe N, but I can't really tell what the cause is. It can be under-fertilized or have lock-out, but I can't make a recommendation on how to fix it on a guess.
Your ph is too high for coco, aim for between 5.8-6.1 going in. Also, you may need CalMag+ to go with your tap water. I'm not sure what the "10" stands for that you are saying is the nute strength, but typically you need an EC meter or ppm meter, they measure the amount of salts (nutes) in your water. Without knowing how much you are feeding, measured by ppm or EC, I can't tell if you are giving them the right amount. How many mL per liter are you giving them?
Check with the Canna website for directions... Coco A & B Directions of Use | CANNA UK, and their feeding schedule http://www.growell.co.uk/?f=download.php&binacode=66. Let us know if you are doing anything other than what they say.
If your tap water has a high ppm/EC then it likely hard enough and has your other nutrients. If it's soft, you'll need the CalMag supplement.
If you can get a better picture it might help, maybe without the hps on?
Sorry I can't be of much more help, hopefully some of the coco growers will catch this, but not too many of them around here I'm afraid.
Are you mixing the Canna A and B together before adding water? (shouldn't do this)
Also, did you flush/rinse out the coco before using it? (should do this)
i just add coco to the water so no i dont mix them and my meter is ppm, it like a stick 1 ft long with to little black things on the end and a light comes on to tell you the amount of nutes, since i have cooled down the water and put a fish tank pump in for circulation there beginning to pick up and i think there goin greener, how long will it take for a recovery if everything is now ok?
Well it sounds like the hot water was the issue, good to hear that things are looking better. Hard to say how fast it will recover, but it should not take very long, plants in coco are very receptive and take much less time to recover than ones in soil... check your rep
my stick shows ppm and cf and its 10-12 cf ph is about 6 they seem to be recovering slowly buy still have got yellow leaves, what should my room temp be?
