i put my plants on 18/6 four/five weeks ago after making the mistake of doing 12/12 for a couple of weeks(this site help'd me sort that out).....my question is my plants are a good size and have been in veg for 4 to 5 weeks.....theirs no sign of any buds so blooming is weeks off......should i at least be seeing some sort ov buds if only small ones by now or will the buds start coming when i go back to 12/12.......any advice?
did you start from clones or seed? clones will show flowers usually within the firt week of 12/12 if you are growing seed they can take up to 2 weeks to show sex and begin flowering from the start of the 12/12 cycle!

no i've had them from seeds......i already now the sexes....i'm just stuck on when the buds should be coming out to play......i dont want a plant with just leaves.

Aye, seed plants need more time under VEG or 12/12, to show flowers.
Mine started showing sex after about 8-9 weeks of veg. However many bud sites didn't show until a week into 12/12.
Where as, I put my two clones in the 12/12 room while I killed a mite issue. So they got a whopping 2 days of 12/12. When moved back, they were in flower! Just 2 days of 12/12! NOW I am vegging them again.
It did show that clones flower much faster then seed plants do though. :thumbsup:
You may have had some shock there from having them in 12/12 for a weeks weeks at the start... If you're already sure of the sex, i'd just put them back into 12/12 when they reach your desired height... preflowers may take longer due to the shock. You may also notice some deformed growth from moving them betweeb light-cycles abnormally...
so your all saying more or less the same thing.... that when i go back to 12/12 then the buds should start to form and be visable.....

just giving an update........i've had my plants on 12/12 for 11 days now and still no sign of any buds......when i run my finger down the stem i get a good smell of weed but still no buds.....any advice would be great......(i think this 1might be one for the pros)......lol

Also small things like light through a crack in the door. OR a red LED on a power strip. Even a HPS street light two blocks away, through a window can stop it from happening.
When you put a plant on 12/12 a chemical build up happens during lights out. ANY photosynthesis will stop this from building up. Once enough of this chemical builds up in the plants tissues, flowering begins. However as I said, if ANY photosynthesis occurs during lights out,.. The process will eat up this chemical, and it will not trigger flowering.
exactly....make sure the 12/12 cycle is consistant. You will see buds eventually....depending on strain. As long as you keep the 12/12 going, it will happen! Good luck! :jointsmile:Quote:
