I have no idea what is going on... 3rd time growing and never had a problem. This time I used Happy frog soil and it looks like my plants are burnt... leaves are brittle and are just breaking when i touch them... however soil was very hard before... so I added perlite so now i am needing to water almost everyday because it is dry... but i am scared that since they are just starting should i cut off the leaves that are dead? or dying? they just crumble if i touch them.. check out the pictures and let me know what you think... help def appreciated...
the first 4 pictures below are of the fastest growing plant... all were planted at the same time... it is in my own soil and has just started getting some of the big bloom which i am thinking of stopping bc i am not sure if it is overwatered, or if it is just burning.......
the fifth picture is of another plant showing the same signs as the first.... they are about 3 weeks old as of now.. I would think they would be much bigger...

the first and third are of another lady... and it really looks like it has almost just killed the leaves from growing anymore.. should i pick them off??? the middle pic is of one that isnt showing any signs of problems as of now.. but it is using the same soil as the one in the pics. the happy frog soil with added perlite and vermiculite.....

It looks like the beginning stages of nitrogen deficiency but with the soil you're using I would doubt that. How often are you watering?

Check the roots. Usually when you have to water so much they are rootbound, and will also look like they are overwatered (curled down leaves).

i do not like adding more perlite to soil....i get brick of chuncky coco coir and mix it 50/50 with fox farm ocean forest but happy frog is a good medium and based on the size of your pots i would use it straight until you transplant then use perlite or coir to help your drainage!
the chunky coir holds some water yet gives good drainage better than perlite...i noticed problems when i had to use perlite instead of chunky coir once...it affected the my PH so i always keep an extra brick in case the grow shop i get my supplies from is out.

i only water them prob every third day.... the plants with the straight happy frog soil only need one watering a week to tell you the truth.... i will take a few pics of the other ones so you can see that some look ok and some just look bad... but yea i water every third day.. when i added perlite it made me water every other day on some...

the first pic is of 3 that look alright as of right now.. the one in green has foxfarm soil and the other 2 have my own soil.... pic #2 is of the one with foxfarm soil it looks good and i think i am going to start feeding it the foxfarm trip regime big bloom grow big tiger bloom. any thoughts ideas suggestions? pic #3 is of one from the first pic its bottom leaves are starting to do what the other did... does it look too moist.?? and pic 4 is of a few that are doing alright about 2 weeks old......
when you say rootbound do you mean what picture #5 looks like??

That def looks rootbound. I was having major issues with my ladies and it all seemed to fix it self once I transplanted. Mine looked almost identical to yours so it is something to look into.

Calmag was a great addition to my girls feeding schedules. I used a 50/50 perlite mix, i get to feed them more often though and it makes flushes a breeze if anything happen to go wrong. Maybe once I get a little more expierience I won't use so much. Roots looks great though on all the girls and I have to transplant more often with perlite. :)I think rootbound was most def the issue with that one.As long as ph is adjusted nows the time:D

Were I you, I'd check the Fox Farms feeding schedule. (the link is in my signature) It's a weekly schedule you can download and print. Follow it closely. Big Bloom isn't a stand-alone nutrient, it's a catalyst tea formulated to compliment the other two in the three-pack. Micro's and other goodness are in the Grow Big for growth stage, and Tiger Bloom for flowering stage.
Way past time to transplant.
If you are getting good soil, why screw around with it? Mixing different soils isn't a good idea in the first place. Why did you add your own mix...are you re-using the soils? (very bad idea till you know what you are doing)
What's the ph of your melted snow?
Remove dead leaves...? Yes
Remove dying leaves...? No
Would lower your 400w HPS to within 18 inches, and check the increase in heat with the back of your hand. Right now yuo are way too far from the plants. During the winter I was getting the lamps within 12 to 14 inches.

alright def appreciate the insight.... I got my mycorrhizae today and am transplanting some and using a little bit of it near the roots.... also... I am pretty much using straight happy frog soil and foxfarm ocean forest... I just had some soil that i was using before and wanted to see if it made a difference since I was doign a tent this time.... and no i def do not reuse soil. the melted snows ph is around 7. I do have all 3 of the foxfarm nutes.... but for weeks one and two you just use the big bloom... so i am not sure what you mean by it is a tea... do u mean it is just preparing my ladies for when the grow big is added as well? i will lower my lights some... The temperature in my tent is staying right around 70 F.

do you consider leaves that are not jagged seems to just look oval to me and have spots and are drying dead..or dying?
someone help.. filled out form here and included pics.. 3rd timer and never a prob.
One thing about your bottom leaves. They will never get well after growing out that far. If you don't like the look of the plant you could trim that branch, but some plants don't like that very much and you get a stressed plant. You need to concentrate your eyes on the new growth and make sure that the leaves are growing properly and fix accordingly...
Hope you can make sense of this...
Keepin' it hazy,

Here's the response I got when I e-mailed FF to ask about the need for micronutes if using their Big Bloom as a stand-alone...
Thank you for your e mail.
Big Bloom does not have enough phosphorus in it to use as a stand alone fertilizer when your plant is flowering.
You can use Big Bloom in combination with Tiger Bloom.
Big Bloom can be thought of as a catalyst. Big Bloom can be used the entire plants cycle, on new plants, and on plants that are not doing well.

It gives the plants a gentle nudge without overpowering them. Tiz why it can be used on new or struggling plants. Not enough oomph in it for using as a stand-alone nutrient. Especially nearing the flowering stage. Plus, it doesn't contain the necessary micronutes. Micro's are in the other two products in the trio.
But plants in mid-growth stage or flowering, it definatelly needs the other nutrients. (Grow Big or Tiger bloom for their respective stage)
