when should i start to bloom
hi,i'm on for my 6th week with white widow on a 12/12 from week 2.its going slow but thats cos of the light(i think).i would like some advice as to when to bloom my plants, their currently about 7or 8ins high but have no sign of buds.should i wait for buds to come through before i even start thinking of blooming or will the buds come when i start to bloom.this is not my first grow but it is my first grow on 12/12.......dont think i'll be doing it again.any advice would be great.....thanks

You need to veg on 18/6 or 24/7. If you have had your plants on 12/12 then you have been flowering. Once put into 12/12 with no light leaks to stress over the white hairs and flowers will show in about 2 weeks or so.

if I read this right?...you only vegged for two weeks?...then went to 12/12 flowering light cycle?
the plants won't flower until they are more mature...even with 12/12 lighting...next time...veg until the plants are about 10 inches tall or about 30 days...

You don't do entire grows on 12/12 light cycles. I'm not sure where you got that idea but it wasn't from this site.
You need to veg your plants for a few weeks at least... this involves leaving them on an 18/6 light cycle until they reach sexual maturity. You'll notice the nodes on your plants are symmetrical... once they start to alternate you can flower at will. This means (you guessed it) 12/12!
When you DO finally switch to 12/12, make sure your space is 100% light free during the night cycle. something tells me it isn't...
Also, I would highly recommend reading stinkyattic's beginners guide:http://boards.cannabis.com/basic-gro...-dankness.html. It will help you at a lot.

hi guy thanks for replys,so are you saying that i should just throw them away and start again.my first grow went o.k-ish both yeild and size on 18/6 then turn to 12/12,but then i started listening to my friend who swore that 12/12 will get a small plant but stronger bud(im sorry i listen to him and i guess im just trying to save my plants)...is it worth carrying on?

Nobody said you should throw the poor plants away. You may as well continue since it's about time to switch to flowering light now anyway.
When you say "switch to flower" what exactly do you mean? Most of the world considers switching their lights from 18/6 or 14/0 schedule from MH (cool light) over to 12/12 HPS (warm light) as the official act of switching to flower. That and changing your nutes from Nitrogen dominant to Phosphorus dominant.
Not to sound snooty but you will really want to spend some "relaxation and medication" time reading the sticky notes at the top of each group. Grow logs are good if people stay on point, short, and specific because many ramble into 90% banter. The search engine is not the greatest (I say at great risk of wrath from the elders and site givers). Google works too, actually you tube has tons, anybody painted greed knows the most. Don't ask me why. :stoned:
So as not to banter, I'll wish you a "Keep growin"'

Oops, my bad... Should read 24/0, meaning always on. Not 14/0, that was a typo. :what:

what if i switched the to 8 hours of light and 16 hours of dark, would this not fool the plants into thinking that nows the time to flower and bud

If you want to flower very early then the healthiest bet is to flower clones as soon as they take root.........you have to have a mother, which could mean 2 cabs as well as a clone cab.......doing this from seed, you must have a mature root system which takes veg time.......
When you say that u can't do 18/6 because of stress, are u talking about u or the plant?:wtf:
There is a lot of myths on growing in the world but this site will definitely teach you the right way......from what i have read you seem to be a bit misinformed, which is fine. We just want to clear up any misunderstandings for you.
Therefore you are dealin with a very imature plant from seed if you want to flower right away, the yield is low because the root system is not developed.
Hope I cleared a buch up for ya. If not ask more questions, we are all right here.:D
best of luck, you are on your way my friend, post up some picks so we can see what u are working with ....

:) As said before, the plant will _not_ flower until it is sexually mature, you can't get around that with a lighting adjustment.
At this point, you really have nothing to lose by staying on 12/12. I would expect to see some changes soon, if you are 6 weeks from seed. Unfortunately, the 4 weeks of short days has definitely given you much smaller plants than you would have had on a more appropriate schedule.

Don't keep them on 12/12... I would expect about a quarter oz per plant (if that) if you flower now.
You should throw them back on an 18 of light/6 hours of dark light cycle to continue the vegging process. Not only will this increase yield by allowing your plant to develop more nodes, (or budding sites as I sometimes like to call them) but it will cause 'secondary budding', which also helps yield. Depending on your equipment, amount of time re-vegging, and quality of plant care, you could pull off an oz. per plant.
I'm sorry if I missed this in the post (I looked) but what kind of lights are you using? and what's the wattage?

what advice would you give me pimp......do you think i should stay on 12/12 or should i put the plants on 18/6 for a week or two just to get some veg in...or should i drop the light down to 8 hours and 16 dark to try and the plants bud....bear in mind my plants are 6 weeks old and about 8ins tall....i ask you as your pic looks good(i know you done 18/6)...what you think?
-
when should i start to bloom
lots of growers are fond of 12/12 from seed...but, I never paid any attention to the results......google:...'12/12 from seed'...see what it says?...:stoned:
I veg 30 days..flower 10-12 weeks

i think fad has said some good thing about starting the veg now then i might get a second bite at the cherry........its just the stress factor of put a 12/12 grow on 18/6........thanks fad never thought of that in this way

I give up.... You have plenty of good advise, have ignored my question to you, and have not read since you still don't even know the most basic of terms. Now you're on your own as far as I'm concerned. Good luck with all that.

No, that is only for switching to flower. It 'shocks' the plant into flowering, basically shaving a few days to a week off of the flowering stage. You should just adjust your timer so that the lights come on at the same time, but stay on an extra 6 hours.
I wont give up on you as easily as Ocotillo, though I don't blame him. You really need to read some basic grow information, because most of these questions should have been answered before you even started your grow. For all I know you're in the middle of reading it right now. If so, good job.

You don't come across as dumb, just inexperienced. Believe me, we all have learning to do, some more than others. I, for one, still consider myself a beginner after two years of essentially studying growing. I learn something new every day on these forums.
Just continue doing your homework and it will all fall into place.

I never put anyone down, I never said anyone is dumb. You simply need to know the terms in order to search or ask. You may even have to give some input to get an answer. Sorry to be "the bad guy". I'm sure you'll figure it out, yoiu seem very smart and intelligent. Good Luck.

Changing light cycles isn't a stress free operation. Even putting the plant into flowering stresses them a little, since the plant has to adjust its internal properties to start the process of creating Chlorophyll B for budding. If you correctly change these cycles, however, you can prevent adding stress. You just need to keep the "sunrise" the same and adjust the "sunset" instead.
If you're worried about forcing hermies, as long as there are no other stressors (light leaks, cold temps, unstable ph, etc. etc.)this should not happen. Just keep an eye on things and you should be fine.
