Thai Sticks .....lordy how I miss them! The king of taste, smell, and pleasure. Just one stick was $10!

you just about covered it..
but I remember some killer weed coming from Vietnam, and maui.
Large, all day arena concerts.
Getting out of the car and putting my beer on top
of the car so I could show my licence to the cop that pulled me over.
..and only getting a warning about my speed.
Pack of smoke's for a quarter.
Putting our change together to fill the tank.
The rest is just a blur.
we sure were a lot more responsible with our alcohol consumption in those days. The kids today are getting DUI's left and right. We knew HOW to drink as well as when to drink.

I believe cops and society as a whole are looking to keep arresting people drinking wayyyy more then they did 20 years ago.
Well yeah, and for good reason too. Back then there weren't as many vehicles on the road as you have today.
Heck when my father taught me how to drive, ('68, '69) the first thing we did was stop at the store and get a coupla beers. So I guess basically I was taught how to drink and drive.
I dont drink anymore, havent for years, but times were if I wasnt on my way to work, I always had a beer in hand.

35 years ago I think the BAC where I'm from was .18. Now its .08. They've removed the grey area called "subjective discretion" from the police officers.
I guess I miss being shook down for my stash of a couple joints by a pot head cop. Nowadays the police bust you automatically-- no discretion. By the Book.
I miss the fat "christmas sacks" my dealer would ladle out to loyal customers at the holidays in the late seventies. A dime bag was a quarter. A "Christmas Sack" was real close to a half ounce for a dime.
I miss watching the old Emerson B&W TV with the coat hanger antenna and the sound turned down while listening to Montrose and UFO and early (Lonesome Crow era) Scorpions records on the scratchy turntable LP sound system I had. Ma would start banging on the pipes if I raised the volume over 4, so to be nice, I would play at about 2 1/2 - 3. Hunched over doing bongs out of a homemade setup using construction tubes and epoxy.
I was probably getting higher off the toxic chemicals the bong was made from than any pot I had. (Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk)
I always had a soft spot for those drag strip radio ads, too.

The radio would play those ads all week, and well, it was probably the most exciting thing going anyway, so we'd pile in the car, stop off for a nickel bag of gold, and smoke up. We'd stand around smirking amongst ourselves, thinking we were too cool, the whole time feeling a full body tingle when a huge block engine would open up.
Pot had its place in its own underground culture, for sure, and there was little room for overlap. I remember greasers starting fisticuffs with some pot smokers. The greasers insinuated the hippies were less than men because they smoked pot instead of guzzling prodigious amounts of clear whiskey.

Then again there were also the girls who were found of angrilly yelling "squid" if you had a buzz cut.
The old white dudes just got the bird. Never got over the girls yelling squid though. That hurt. You'd think some of them would know the difference between a squid and a jarhead, cough, cough.
