Money is not an issue.

Scenario....

Grower is a beginner. Wishes to buy some high quality seeds from a seed bank. Desires to start small, hoping to start with ten seeds with the goal of ending up with one or two good mother plants. Considering using an autopot system, and LED lights.

I guess the first question is, are autopots and LED lighting systems all that the marketers say they are, or is a lot of it hype? Expense is not an issue, and I am willing to pay for higher priced lights in order to reduce the electric bills and heat... IF they work well.

Further, anyone able to make recommendations based upon experience as to what is a good seedbank to order from? (I live in the States)

So, if you were looking to set up a system with the relatively modest output I describe, and money is no object (I am willing to spend money to do it right the first time)... what sort of systems would you recommend?

As to the seeds, try The Attitude Seed Bank Co. in the U.K. As for the rest of your plan, I don't understand. You say $ is not an object, but you're looking to reduce electric bills. LEDs are not where they need to be to grow with. If you want quality bud, use a t-5 florescent fixture for seedlings and new clones, and get HID lamps (MH for veg, and HPS for flower). I've never known anyone using LEDs who was happy with the end result.

I second everything he is telling you. Attitude seed bank is great to deal with and one thing to add (since money not an issue) is go buy "feminized" seeds so you will not have to typically run into getting any male plants.

I did my first grow with LED's , 126w panel and 3 UFO 90w and are OK with results not excited but again it was my first grow. This next grow I am going to go with 400w HPS light and use my 3 UFO on angle as secondary lighting.

More concerned with raising eyebrows with my electric bill doubling than I am at the expense. Small community, and even the folks who work for the electric company are local. Increased electrical usage is not enough, in itself, for a warrant... but I would prefer to simply not attract attention to begin with.

a 400W HPS fixture uses significantly less energy than a small 6" space heater (those usually run between 1000-1500W). I don't think any eyebrows would be raised, but then again I don't live in a tight-knit community.

I think its more of a problem when people start running 2 or more 1000W systems that tips off authorities. Luckily I've never had to deal with that though, so again that is just my best guess.

Instead of LED's, get the HPS setup and with the money leftover, you can buy some energy efficient appliances to make up for the extra energy usage :D

agreed i even built my own with cree leds and it's not worth the money unless you like light airy buds...

if your wanting to produce u need 1k's:thumbsup:. 1 way to reduce your electric is install a switch on your hotwater heater.that way you can turn it off.it eats up more than you think.then when u need hot water turn it on about 30 mins b4 u need it. change out all your light bulbs with cfl's.another thing you can do if money is no object is go rent ya alil house out away from town and run only your setup there.the money you would save from buying the leds would get ya in a cheap lil house. i can link a website that sells 1k digi's with bulb and a 3ft x 2/1/2 hood for 450 ea. build ya a dwc setup and your golden...

The middle plant was grown in sunlight. the other two under leds. I couldn't be happier with my leds.
So, now, you've met at least one.:)

Then there's Old Mac, and Whiskey Tango.
IMO, there's no better light for personal micro-grows.
Not talkin' 'bout UFOs here.
Or Procyons.
I use 660nm. red in my homebrew lights, and rival tropical sunlight for size and density.

And I like Coco coir as a medium.
A call it "Drydroponics":D. Highest yeild/least work.

Had a good experience buying White Widow seeds from VUDU.com in Italy.:cool:
Tried a UK company, but they would not ship to the US and when I asked who would, they sent me to VUDU.

I think I see what you are trying to do here and it is one of the few approaches that I wholeheartedly recommend leds for.
