Here's a pic. from yesterday...3 days after taking all the buds off.
From a 3 gal. to a 1 1/2 gal. bucket.
The root ball just before the deed is done.

The last pic. is a close up of what's still there before the root trim & repot.
Before covering the rootball, I sprayed it until fairly damp with Olivia's Cloning Solution mixed per instructions on the bottle.
I also laid some flat stones in the bottom of the pot, covereing them with a piece of cloth, then the new soil, the root ball and finished filling in around the rootball.
I watered it in with Fox Farms Grow Big and Big Bloom at 1/2 strength with a Tbl. spoon of unsulfured molasses.
This all took place yesterday afternoon. I'll post another pic. later today.:jointsmile:
I think I need this plant to stretch a bit before putting her back into flower so i'm gonna keep her not so close to the lights...Maybe about 18-20" away.

It's not gonna want much light so off on the side is fine.
I wonder if rinsing in lukewarm water and separating the roots would do more harm than good. Maybe I will try if I can ever get my gro-project underway.

Uhoh...did you leave any bud on it? I think it needs the bud remnants to get new growth going.
Did you shake-out the old soil from the rootball before replanting? If so...why? Shaking-out the soil from rootball allows roots to tangle, stretch, die. Dead roots rot.Quote:

I would either re-pot and flush, or flush really good (after soil dries a tad) and ride it out. What kind of cloth is covering the drainage rocks? Remember...cloth holds moisture, and cannabis prefers a wet-dry cycle. If heavy enough, the cloth might be retaining too much moisture for too long, which can promote root rot.

This is just a practice run but I'm hopin' the plant makes it 'cause the smoke I've sampled from it is pretty kick-ass.

My plan (I think) is to leave it alone until it needs water and keep it not so close to the lights so it will stretch a bit...Sound like the thing to do?
After some more thought, I think I'd wait till rootball dries-out a bit and carefully slip it out of the pot to remove the cloth. Then, flush well with properly ph'd water to try and release the cloning gel hormones.
No blazing 1000watts of light, but normal distance on outside edge of garden. She still wants/needs to photosynthesize.
I'll have to double-check the thread. I know I mentioned sprinkling a little rooting hormone powder to the rootball early in my thread, but found it ineffective, and possibly counter-productive. Thought I corrected that error later in the post, but will have a look. :thumbsup:

Looked through both of my re-veg threads:

...and apparently I didn't ammend my technique to not include the rooting hormone. It's not that the rooting hormone will kill roots in moderation, as I did it for a year or so with the powder with no noticible ill effects. But once I stopped, no noticible change. Doubtful it's the cause of your plants' condition, but trimming roots without the hormone works fine. :thumbsup:
Next time do an experiment Rusty, leave a tiny piece of bud. I bet you will find that it doesn't delay veg onset by much if at all and you will get MANY branches from the revegging bud sites.
Many branches that are packed in a ball so tightly that no light or air can penetrate, and holds water drops to the point of spoiling leaves and promoting disease or rot? No thanks. I prefer my way. It promotes a cleaner/healthier plant.
That's one of the reasons why I recommend plucking the buds. (that, and the flowering hormones contained within the plant material itself)
95% of what I post is personal experience, the rest I glean from experts in the plant biology field that have no financial ties to my garden. :thumbsup:
Looks like it might work...
All the larger leaves dried up but there are some small leaves starting to show.
I went ahead yesterday and did a pretty good flush with PH'd well water and today a couple real small leaves came out.:)
I am sure you are right. In my experience it doesn't slow regrowth but you are dead on about the cluster of branches. I will definitely try it your way the next time I get the chance. Leaving buds makes TOO many branches that need to be massively cleaned up stressing the mother additional times.Quote:

Leaving buds is fine, it is just messier and takes longer to start the re-veg. More time for something to go wrong before new growth appears, too. Personal preference in the long run.
Well...I guess I need to give up on this re-veg...There ain't a green leaf left on the plant....Dammit!
We'll use what's left over in a soup or something.
I started my current grow on 12/12 Friday so in a few weeks I'll have some thing to try it again.
I screwed it up somewhere...Guess we'll find out later!
