Okay guys so basically I'm working on my 2nd closet grow and had a lil boobo. I'm not sure exactly how it happend i guess the plant just grew because snd touched the bulb. It looks disgusting but i just want to know how bad it is guys and what could happen (if anything) to the plant as a result of this.
Let me know guys the lady is three weeks old and just got repotted and taken a few days to pick up again

Awwe, poor lil thing.
Im sure it will be fine, the damage seems fairly cinfined to a leaf or two.

I agree with Beano. Growth might slow down a little for a short time though.

Cut the bad leafs off an let it continue growing an keep the light 10 inchs from plants minimum!!

If he were to cut off the bad leaf wouldnt that slow down the growth rather than letting it fall off.
Also from the pic it seems as if he is using CFLs why would he put them that far, i believe the plant grew an inch and thats how far he had the bulb from the plant, i recomend 2-3 inches and check on it frequently so this wont happen again...

I agree with superskunk. 10 inches from your plants with cfls is ludacris, i had mine cm's away and they didnt burn. I have burnt my plants before and id reccomend for them to fall of naturally. Maybe some restoration nutes when its recovered !
Sure it will be ok

Yep i agree, sep one thing. If your using cfl's, you gotta get them as close as possible, so you can count on a bit of burn here and there. I cut off the burn part, right were the burn is, not the green part though. Because then your plant will try and fix it and dead leaves only shade the other growth.
But your fine, it slowed my growth too, but you the only thing you can do is add more cfl's. With more cfl's, the plant grows better and 2-3'' away is great. But with few lights, i think you gotta get them very close to the plant, which, then you get burn, this is only IME
Oh i didn't see the ''grew an inch into the light'', thats probably what happen, so i typed this for nothing as superskunk was RIGHT-ON bra :rasta:

I am using 10 cfl's for a total of 17,500 lumens. From my experience, during vegg, I was able to keep the lights 3 to 6 inches away with no problem, but during flower, I had to move them atleast 10 inches away, as I was burning the hairs. Take a look at the chart I added, as Lumens are measured at 1 foot, so the closer you get, the more lumens, and heat you will be shooting to your girl

I dono man. I had 23w cfl's only a couple of inches from mine for months and nothing ever happened. At some points the leaves would even get up in between the spirals and I never noticed any issues. Also T-8's for veg that are over driven 70% and I let the taller ones grow right into the tubes to help slow any stretching.
I do know that some cfls get hotter then others but I'd be surprised if that was the culprit. Just my opinion based on my tiny experience and what I've read.
Could it be from nutrient prepared water sitting on the leaves? just a random thought?
I'm having health issues with a few of mine and I cant figure it out so I'm definitely not giving advice on that aspect.

This is what I experienced with mine Attachment 288592
4 days after moving them from 4 inches to 8 to 10 inches, this is what they looked like. Attachment 288593
It could be due to the intensity of the 10 CFLsi am using, but I had them all spread out on the top and sides. the buds in the center, farther away from the light did not get burned. And you may have hit the nail on the head Joe, when you say that some CFLs run hotter than others. In my situation, they were too hot. That is one thing I love about this site, ask, any you will get many opinions, Including my OPINION, LOL

I was looking at the top of the page and got confused.:wtf: I just realized those picks and posts where old.
wow! Well that is definitive prof right there . That's good to know.
My CFL's I can squeeze in my hand and its no where near uncomfortable for heat. I have no experience flowering using CFL's mine is only vegging.
Hopefully no long term damage was done.

I loled to this.
Yeah an update would be nice. Safer for close range would be cool daylight cfls. They do get hot as well, still need to take care with them.

I like to revive old posts, I think they are more helpful being revived, than sitting at the bottom of a pile of threads
