Im using 2 65watt grow lights I got at wal-mart. A regular medium soil and I bought plant food ratio 15-30-15, but have not used any of that yet. I germinated the seeds in water for 24 hours then in wet paper towels for another 24 after 3 days in soil this is what they look like. Do u think my setup will yield anything?
I assume that the grow lights that you got from wal-mart are incandecent and not florecent lights. If this is the case the plant will gorw very few nodes, bud spots, and it will most likley be severly stressed from the heat that the lights put out. Your best bet on a limited budget is to use florecent lights. Under no circumstances should you fertilize within the first 2 weeks of vegative growth. After than start on a very low dose, (1/10 the dose on the package), and then you should start to see some good growth. If the lights are indeed incandecent then do not use them. If any of this confuses you please post another reply, and i will try to clarify.

PS if you do not know the difference between the lights you can post a picture of them and i will be able to tell what they are
I know what its like when your starting one tends to try and keep every thing to a budget but an HID lamp realy would pay for its self.
I took out the 2 smaller plants and put angela and mary jane in there own pots. I took out the 2 grow lights that were incandecent and replaced it with an old florecent grow light I don't think I need the fan running in the closet temp seems to be 75-80 probably hopefully that light will work maybe ill pick up another cheap florecent
to much water slow down
i had just replanted them in that pic and gave them each maybe a cup of water pouring it evenly around the pot
how much water should I give them?
its good to water once a day and only once a day right?

I just wanted to add..that if one has seedlings that have stretched for the light,that you may be able to help reverse that,by re-planting the seedling up to just under the top set of leaves..the lowering the light as close as possible,and having an oscillating fan on them.

I've decided to buy a 250w HID light hopefully I can keep the plants alive on the lights I got for now. Ill post another pic tommorow..can't wait for the new light though I stayed up for hours last night reading all about them going to try to get one with both mh and hps bulbs for veg and flowering umm umm i can taste the sweet homegrown budz all rdy :D

Plants seem to be doing alright under the too low watt grow flurescents.. Wonder if they'll actually grow any bigger leaves
the plant named angela has a bit taken out of it.. maybe becuase i touched it there or could it be bugs..?shouldn't be bugs though in closet clean area n all
Dude, those guys look like they are stretching. Get that light as close as possible or those plants are fucked. My first plant stretched and is now shrivelled up and dead.

The key to keeping your seedlings short and stout,is to have the light as close as ya can,and have an oscillating fan,gently moving them back and forth. Outdoors,it's a matter of the intensity of the sun..if you have the seedlings in constant shade,they'll stretch for the light..if the light is strong or close,then they won't have to reach for the light..and become weak and spindley,as a result. Your basic goal,is to build a mighty trunk,to bear the weight of the heavily resined flowers. So git a fan on em and keep the light close..and let's see if you can recover from the stretching. :)

I added some soil to the pot and buried the stems a bit..should I actually replant them further into the soil or would that be risky..? I bought an additional fluro grow light so now i have 3 on them and the lights are about an inch or 2 away from top of plants. Temp is great and havn't checked humidity yet but it seems ok...
my goal at this point is to keep them surviving until I can either get a better setup with HIS light or plant them outside when the weather gets warmer..right now it gets down to 30 at nights outside so tha'd be no good
good move. raising the level of the soil will help alot. def try to get an HPS light... it will be worth it.
ur lights should b about 2 inches. Dont wanna burn 'em.
set up looks good just for the money u put in to it. just to let you know that the plants do let off smell. and they do get big deppending on the strain. but nice little set up.
Im all good with smell I have my own place and live in maine so no worries :D
I added a 60w fluro today not one for growing just a regular type, but now that gives me 100w total. think I may go out wednesday and pickup one of those 85w or 150w fluro with those cheap reflectors u can buy..put a big piece of glass over the top of the box and set it on there so it doesn't heat up the plants too much
too tired and stoned to put pics up tonight but I'll take some tommorow..Looked at the plants when I got home from work and they are doing great 3rd set of leafs has started

for fertilzer I have expert gardener deepfeeding formula 15-30-15 nitrogen,phospahte,potast
when should I start using that and how much? Like 1/8th tsp for every cup of water maybe?

Plant on right "maryjane" seems to be doing better then plant on left "angela". Angela seems to be dropping leaves...
both angela and maryjane have red stems dunno what that means I've heard it could be strain or something with the soil... I am using a regular mediuem soil i bought at wal-mart. would it be better to get some good soil and replant? would that stress the plant too much and kill it?
going to go out and by some stuff tommorow like ph testing maybe that will help determine some problems
the drooping could just be from over watering - make sure you dont water too much, you want the plant to "search" for water so the root system expands.
Keep the updates comming, I would like to see how they come along.
I have two plants of my own, Sitting on a hidden window cill, natural as F**K.. fresh, nice soil, I just let em go, they got the sun on their side.. pretty little buggers.. :D ones stretching, but he has support, and I dont really care about the yeild.. to me its just a learning experince to get closer to what I'd like to call a gift.

Looking good...mine started out pretty much the same way...sometimes they'll seem like something's going wrong...you just gotta wait it out...they're much more adaptive and strong than you could imagine. They'll survive with depleted food and water better than too much food and water.
yea everythings looking good.. Been watering about everyother day..temps get up to 85f sometimes but I think thats barable also humidity is at 30% I've read its suppose to be around %50 but %20 difference doesn't seem too bad If it really does make a difference I have a humidifier I could use... post some pics tommorow

didn't have the size box I needed, so I duck taped a couple together...First I had the idea to take about my grow light fluro fixtures and mount them on my own reflector. I made the reflector out of cardboard and covered both sides in space blanket myfler stuff. Also picked up a fan that blows out at home depot for 10 bux that thing sucks the air right out going to help with temps hopefully :D

2 X 20w grow light 24"
1 X 15w cool white 24"
1 X 20w home depot garden light 2400k specrum I think it said 24"
2 x 42w CFL
so that makes a total of 159w :rolleyes:
havn't figured if thats a good amount of light for the space but guess I'll find that out later.. watered with small about of fert today too hope all goes well

ONLY WATER ABOUT ONCE A WEEK!!!!! THEY DON'T NEED WATER EVERY OTHER DAY!!! Trust, I'm watering my plants once a week and they haven't died, dried, wilted or even shown the smallest sign of thirst for any given week without the water...
They don't need that much humidity either...the drier it gets, the more prone they are to make resins to preserve moisture in the leaves....more potency before the flowers even bloom....and if that soil is store bought, then you don't even need fertilizers for the first 3 or 4 weeks, just water when the pots get really really really light and you can stick your finger in the dirt over 1 inch and not feel moisture....
The soil I have drys out in 1-2 days so maybe I should wait another day but I don't dare risk anything past that seems like with the soil like sand the roots would need water more often then once a week
OK, just didn't want 'em to suffocate...I've done something wrong with too much water or too much ferts with one of mine...a small, undergrown, already stunted polyploid (mutated)...it's drooping (wilting), but it's not dry at all...so i assume that's what it is... I flushed out the soil with water, and hopefully I can salvage the poor thing...it looks so pitiful...My soil had delayed release nutrients, and I'm sure I started giving them miracle grow too quickly too much at a time...both have stopped growing pretty much, they probably don't know what to do with all that miracle grow....ugh..
Havn't posted in a couple days..heres some recent pics they seem to be doing well been watering every 2 days and made a new grow box a little bigger 2ft high 18" wide and 24"long chaged out the grow light fluros and bought 2 cool white 20watts but one of my fixtures blew out so I need to get 2 more and put them on the other side so its equal lighting. Think im just going to take that other 15w cool white out I can't stand uneven numbers :eek:
they look a little droopy, maybe it's the strain though, not sure...sounds good overall man...you'll need more and more water as they get bigger...I've got a 5 week old that went from watering once a week to now every other day..it's a tricky situation if you think about it too much....just be careful with the fertilizers...keep posted...i hate uneven numbers too!
there being overwaterd, simple. Even if you don't think so, they do. And thats all that matters. The water will be under the surface of the soil, several inches below it. And these plants are fine with soil being bone dry for a day or two if you get them water.
Also, what are your plans for later growth and flowering? If you do it in that box you will need to do some very extreme training.
that's what i thought...too much water, that's how my plants looked until i learned my lesson...
llamaman, just curious, what would this person have to do specifically to flower in that box? if it's too much detail then don't worry about it...i'm starting to force flower a plant that's about 6 weeks old, mainly to see what the strain is capable of...but i'm not using a box, it's just out in the open...i have tons of seeds, so i don't really care if something goes slightly wrong...
Been awhile since I posted last, plants are on day 28 now I guess and doing alright. I held off watering them for a week and they seemed to drop even more, but this could have also been becuase it went from 80 degree temps to 65-75 I don't really know
Bad lighting on the pic oh well..

been thinking about planting them outside near a stream that gets good light would they surive a transplant anyone think?

bottom leaves are changed funky colors anything I can do to fix this? possibly just feed water no ferts?
