Prices too high for medical patients without a paycheck or independently wealthy!!! Those on a verifiable fixed disability income should have discounted prices. IMHO, anything over $10 a gram is gouging no matter how good it is supposed to be. JHC, in the old days Acapulco Gold and other quality smoke could be had for $20 an oz on the east coast. :pimp:

Living in the future, not the past. The bubble is soon going to burst. And for the risk you are talking about, I have taken the same risk and still covered expenses with $10 a gram donations. And will continue to do so when I do it.
Its about patients not profits and when the levy breaks its a new ballgame. The war on marijuana has never been about money except on the black market (with higher and higher prices) and funding LEOs along with the prison/industrial complex. Its always been about personal freedom. :D

And in the old days you could buy a new car for $5000 and your paychecks were only $75 a week on a full time job. However in economics there are things called inflation and supply and demand. Now if these people were able to have fields and fields of pot (massive supply) I'm sure they'd be happy to give you an awesome deal. Dispensary owners go through a lot of stress trying to keep the law off their store. Even though things have been better lately, who says that they will stay this way. Their risk is the reason they cannot lower prices. Think about how easy it would be for some stupid state level or municipal level drug task force to just walk in and take EVERYTHING. Yeah they really aren't allowed to do that, but since when have cops followed the rules? If it took you 4 months to make something and it could just be taken away from you in a snap, I highly doubt you would just lower the prices to the point where it is being given away.
You guys should be bitching about the headshops who buy SHIT glass from china and india and sell it on a 300-500% markup. They have lower risk and it takes A LOT less skill to run a headshop (trust me I run one)

And did you have employees to pay, a storefront to maintain, or pay taxes on the money you made? It costs THOUSANDS per month to keep a storefront location up and running

I keep my overhead low. Storefronts are basically not legal in Washington (there are a few discreet ones) and I limit the number of patients. And at the present not doing anything along those lines due to disagreements on how it should be done to keep the cost to the patient low. Basically operate from a residence or home office. I've also pondered the delivery model with driver's being tipped by the patient. Now just waiting for it to become more legitimate shall we say. :D
And I agree about the cheap imports.
Lastly, my crop was taken just before harvest this fall and not by a LEO which really put me in a bind. And that's another story. :(

I'm sorry about your troubles man. However, I too feel the same way you do about price gouging those in pain. These are people that don't really have a choice as to what medicine will help them. Those with lower incomes who would normally be helped by medicare or medicaid are SOL for this type of medicine.
When I finish up my degree here in Missouri, I will be moving to a MMJ state to open up a dispensary of my own. Full organics with all plants on-site and in a secure room so patients know where their meds came from and how they were grown. It is horrible what is happening to these people who are normally way too sick to hold down a job let alone leave their house. I would like to be able to deliver to those who are unable to come into the store. Also I plan on having special pricing for patients with proof of low or fixed incomes.
The shame about this is, is that a lot of the dispensaries out there are just trying to get people high instead of healthy. If this atmosphere doesn't change soon in the legal pot markets our MMJ privileges will be take away by the states.

yeah good luck on trying to open up with plants on site. .. never going to happen... there is a reason dispensaries dont have plants, (except clones) at their shop... 1. smell 2. high risk of robbery 3. not one ordinance allows it,.... and if you do you will probably be breaking a state law which would redflag you for the feds to come in.. also dont come to cali everything here its already taken up .. theres not one city to open up in.. and every city its putting up moratoriums when people summit their business license...
it does blow my mind that people are selling 60$ 1/8 in l.a with all the competition
if you dont like the prices of l.a dispensaries come to norcal 45$ 1/8 all day of high quality stuff then l.a theres a reason they call it norcal bud..

Yeah, I know. Plants on site is just a hope that I had if I could do it legally. I've got a few more years till I would be ready to open up one anyways, so we really have no way of predicting how the laws will be then. But robbery wouldn't be an issue... I had already planned on sealing this place up like fort knox. Bullet proof glass where need be, super security doors, and a remote monitored security system. If laws allow, I would also want employees to carry fully concealed taser guns to subdue any robbery attempts which may occur in the daytime when the shops open.
And btw I would NEVER go to Cali. There's already more dispensaries than Walgreens which I thought was an impossible feat.:stoned:

There is no way for any one co-op to grow enough meds to cover the needs of their patients. This is why they look for donations from other patients or buy from other growers. This is why some strains cost more than others and no one strain is always available. Yeah it may be around a lot of the time, but never always. our patients appreciate the quality of the meds we deliver and the manner in which we handle our business. I welcome anyone to come and visit our shop before submitting a review or post. You will see we are quite different from other shops. Yes it is very expensive to operate a dispensary, especially in the heart of the jewelry district of Downtown LA.

Obliviously this guy doesnt now the risk involved and the time consuming effort. Dude you have to water everyday, put in nutes, tie leaves back, put in supporting sticks, buy the lighting equipment, PAY THE LIGHT BILL, Prune, cost of material Soil(Pots, Surge protector, light reflecting material, etc.) and cut shake from plant. Your one of those type of guys that makes a million a year and dont give your employees there last check. Think about what you say before you say it. Its alot of time and when its said and done you put well 10 per gram into it. Why would I sell it to you for the same price? Think Charlie
Note: If I was growing for profit over pretty-ness. I could get you 10 a gram for some mids. Plus In the old days weed wasnt nearly and I meant not close to what it is today. Way more advanced!!
