ReLeaf Center - Dispensary Review Thread
In the spirit of starting a new thread for each dispensary review, I'll start this one on ReLeaf.
As one of the dispensaries whose sticking with the herd on pricing (55/8th, 110/qtr, 395/oz, all plus tax for A strains) they will never get a glowing review from me. When a quarter rings up @ $118.50 I'm never too stoked! I have some mixed feelings about these guys but I've gotten some pretty good stuff here. I really like the Jack Flash that they have sometimes... really flavorful, potent buds. They have a good G-13 that is almost always in. It's pretty nice. They also appear to get a lot of vendors coming through. There will be different stuff as you go on a few times over a week. I had some amazin Dutch Dragon last week, went back to get more the next day and it was gone.
I've had a few bad trips recently too. Picked up some SAGE that was garbage! Must've been someone's first attempt at growing. It was super spindly, probably grown under fluoros. It was packed in there and I didn't take my time so I picked up this crap SAGE. I was pissed. It was all stems and air. I ended up kifing it all in my box and getting a nice little bit of kif out of it though. Also picked up some B-52 and couple buds just tasted funky... like chemicals or off in some way. That one kinda turned me sour, but I know it wasn't their fault.
A side note: I'm kind of concerned with dispensaries who just buy from any vendor (not saying these guys do). But who knows how some independent growers treat their shit?
Where these guys are a litte better is the B-strains. They're a little cheaper and they're still good. The hash plant and afghan goo could easily go as A-strains at other dispensaries. They aren't that much cheaper though....
My overall impression of this place is that it's a good neighborhood place to go. If you live in the area, don't want to travel far, and want to pick up a small supply of good nugs then stop in. I will travel farther to get same/better quality for cheaper when I can. This is good for me when it's storming or rush hour or something. I usually find better herbs here than at nearby Herbal Connections, albeit at a higher price. Top quality strains vary because they buy from different vendors, but they've had some pretty consistent Blue Dot, G-13, Jack Flash, and Skunk #1 the past few weeks.

Just wanted to mention that I've had phenomenal SAGE, so I'm not knocking the strain. Check out the stuff up at THC. If you like SAGE you'll be fuckin' blown away for real!
Man, I wish I could get a hold of some of those SAGE genetics going around up in the Boulder/Mountains!!

I got some s.a.g.e. from Delta 9 last week that kinda sucked too. Similar to what you described. I only got it cuz I never really tried it and the budtender said it was fire. Not super impressed but my tolerance is a brick s-house.

Almost got some at D9 on Monday. Glad I passed!

I enjoyed talking to Jason up there at D9, but I have a feeling that other guy just tries to move whatever needs to move! I won't be taking his advice anymore especially after this. He recommended some stuff to me that was clearly less desirable than another strain...
Anyway, SAGE. Man, good SAGE is fire and has a funky taste that grows on you. It's been one of my favorite smokes and I've read it's pretty potent. My tolerance is really, really bad too... but I remember it being noticeably stronger than the other quality strains. I think they have this pretty consistently up at Boulder Alternative Meds and Grateful Meds, but from what I could tell it didn't match the stuff at THC.

As soon as I get some extra ends I'm heading up to the mountains. I hear so many good things about the smoke up there.

Got some really nice stuff here the other day..
Mountain Jack Flash - Really nice smoke. Don't know how this differs from regular Jack Flash, maybe just "mountain-grown". Has a really subtle flavor that's not as pronounced as other Jack Flash I've had, but you can slightly taste that Jack Flash flavor. The potency is there though. Dried and cured very nicely.
Sour Diesel - Nice smoke. Sour D is everywhere. This wasn't as strong smelling as some Sour D I've had, but it was pretty potent. Tons of trichs. When breaking up a bowl, trichs went everywhere. There were enough of them that my fingertip was covered with a swipe of the area after loading the bowl! There's a lot of Sour D out there and this isn't the best I've seen, but I was pretty happy to get some good smoke. Dried and cured well... stayed lit.
I don't go in this place usually because it's really pricey ($119/qtr), but I do like this store. They are consistent. I think they are pretty particular in what vendors they purchase from and they have a few strains that they usually have in like G-13 and Hash plant. The Hash Plant is top quality that sells as a B-grade. It doesn't taste the best, but it's a great indica.
If they could come down to $100/qtrs then they'd get a lot more of my business.

The "Mountain" is just to delineate it from the typical Jack Flash that we grow in house. It was done at 8,400 ft, but elevation typically doesn't play much of a part in the quality of herb we see. I was weary of it at first, just not that typical Jack smell.
Sorry about the pricing, we've dropped them twice since opening and envision doing it again in the future... but we're also looking at increased licensing fees soon and having to provide more free services. We're waiting to see what happens with the state bill and let you know, though. I remember when it was $100 a quarter, too.
Also, if we're your caregiver... it's only 106.65. ;)

That Jack Flash was one of my favorite smokes gotten in a dispensary so far!! It was up there with the Critical Mass from D9 a few months ago!! Check it out! I might go get some more... So is this grown in a greenhouse?
You guys definitely aren't the worst on prices, but the fact that you get me in your store at all when I can get $40-$50 eighths with a bit more of a drive, is truly a testament to the quality of your nug! Its a nice store. I like to come here after a few less-than-stellar purchases at $50/eighth dispensaries because I can almost always find a great sack here!
Hey Releaf, can you post your A-grade prices if you don't mind? I think an oz was discounted, so maybe that's the way I'll go from now on. I'm pretty sure the oz prices were the same as some of the other $50/eighth dispensaries (~$350-400). Shit if you guys have an oz of that Jack I might be back.

We appreciate the kind words and the feedback. We're active in the forum/blog community because we want to hear what people are really saying, not to pick fights with people who didn't like us. I'll bring up pricing again to our owners for you.
I just got off the phone with our grower and he said Jack is 5 1/2 weeks out. His NL x Skunk #1 x Afghani will be in next Tuesday, though. It's always worth checking out.
A pricing is as follows: 20/g, 60 1/8th, 110 1/4, 205 1/2, 395 oz, 760 2oz.
Sales tax on those is 7.72%

I've been meaning to get in to this place for awhile now... Finally made it in today and am glad I did! Quality selection, with a little bit of everything to choose from. The staff was knowledgeable of the strains and super friendly - both traits which seem to be nonexistent at some of the other shops I frequent. The place had an overall really good vibe to it.
Jack Flash looked descent, as did the Kush. I ended up going with some really nice looking Ice that I'm very pleased with. It's nice to find good meds like this that have been allowed to finish and properly flushed.:rastasmoke: Prices seemed in line with everyone else - just better quality meds and a better experience than I've seen lately around this neck of the woods.
If you haven't been in, I'd give them a try.

I don't think there is any affiliation, just similar names. I've never seen those strains in there.

ReLeaf Center - Dispensary Review Thread
I went on a quick trip to the FR this weekend and checked out Releaf. (Coincidentally, this place is down the street from my brother's house.) I was already loaded down with goodies from One Brown Mouse and the Clinic on Colfax and a few other places. I got a couple grams of CD. It was bottom of the jar, and lacking in aesthetics, so I got a small discount. The staff was friendly; the paperwork, average. The medicine was potent. They have a good hash selection. I'll be back when I next visit Denver.
caveat: this next paragraph poses some inconsequential complaints.
One thing that was off-putting about Releaf and also the Clinic on Colfax was the security windows and doors, lending both places a sort of unsafe feeling. Also (this is not true of either of the aforementioned centers) many of the dispensaries in Denver look trashy. Neon signs, bars on the window etc. I'm OK with dispensaries that are like a friendly bar or a doctor's office... but I don't like ones that look like 24-hour liquor stores in poor sections of town.
-
ReLeaf Center - Dispensary Review Thread
Glad you made it in! We've talked to our landlords about taking the bars off the windows, but with the nature of our industry and them running a liquor store, they're concerned about security. One thing I hear over and over again is how nice our shop is, but you'd never guess it by looking at the front. Short of taking down the bars, is there anything you would recommend?

I wish. You're talking our wholesale.
And since we're in Denver, onsite medicating is banned. Even for our employees.
@lamp: Thanks. If only we could get the outside to match...
-

really? I should drop by with some extras before July if that's your wholesale :)
not medicating onsite.... it's Denver's (and soon Colorado's) way of saying, please, do this while you are driving or in the neighborhood, behind the dumpster.
idiotic.

Nope. Your place is fine and friendly. My complaint was more a general one; I was driving south from downtown and there were so many ratty little dives.
See ya next time. :hippy:

Man, I like your shop but I gotta stop listening to the budtenders.... Maybe we just have different tastes.
Two of them recommended the Sweettooth and it didn't look that great but I took their word for it. Got it home and upon closer look it looks like total beasters!! Haven't seen Beasters like this since the Canadian buds flowing into Chicago...
Wish I woulda trusted my gut today for sure!
Although on a positive note your Jack Flash seems bit nicer lately.... I think they mentioned a switch to soil?

Maybe you should learn to grow instead of buying wholesale. Then you'll make more profit, and provide higher quality medicine for cheaper to your "patients".

I like it. Good shop. Several good strains but their Ice is working out best for me.
Hey, anyone know the scoop on the the ice cream joint around the corner, on Tejon I think? Funny, cylindrical shaped building and called "One Guy Ice Cream" or something rather. Always a long line stringing out to the street every time I pass by.
Must be some damn good ice cream. Might have to wander in there too. :rasta:

I really like that Sweet Tooth, but you are right, this isn't the best batch. Let the budtender know you didn't care for it and we'll give you a $5 discount on your next bag.
We ran the Jack in Aeroflow this time. It's got a better nose but it's a tad more wispy. I was disappointed in the couple that we tried in soil... the fragrance of the Jack is one of my favorite parts of the strain and it lost a lot of that great sweet pungency.

We're growing as much as we can right now, and that's always expanding. For now I'm happy to be supporting some great caregivers that might have to close up shop after 1284 goes down. I feel like we price aggressively and have lowered them three times since we opened. Can't wait until we can drop them again.

I may bring in some organic soil stuff soon. I was trying to help patients out w cheap prices but I just don't know any really and I don't want to advertise on CL.

We trade our Jack to caregivers who are looking to get more variety for their patients, as well.

Must not be. I stopped in last weekend, first visit, no BOGO no free edible:(, picked up some Chocolope, a strain I wanted to try but - my bad - didn't really check it out other than smell. It was over-dried, had to rehydrate just to smoke.(Not bad once I got it going, but not great either).
I don't want to pay for water but this was too far.
Still, they have a great looking selection, good range of prices and they've been pretty consistent about lowering prices as the market changes so I'll stop back when I've got enough scratch to mix n match a decent amount.
I'll just try to be discriminating, but I still tend to listen to others too much about the product - I've always been an easy sell. Same problem I have in any dispensary.

We have coupons for BOGO's available at our events, but you have to come to an event to pick them up. We do a BOGO up to an 1/8th for regular referrals, though, so bring in a friend.
@starter: We've struggled with what do to about dry buds. Rehydrating them ourselves can invite mold and can also alter the nose on the strain. If you're ever not sure about a cure, ask to see the big jar and touch the buds in there. The sample buds always tend to dry in the display jars.
I'm really upset over the free edible thing. This is the second time I've heard this, and even if we don't have a free edible in, the budtender should ALWAYS give you a discount. I'm really sorry about that and just talked to everyone about it.
