The Phunny Pharm: 1st Grow, CFL only
		Good evening to all;

This is my first indoor grow and my first after many years of just buying what was available. This is just bagseed but its DAMN good bagseed if I may say so myself.

Germing seeds in plastic cups with notches for drainage, wrapping across the top to help with dehydration. As soon as they sprout, they will be transplanted to beginning pots placed in a custom grow cabinet I made myself from a chest of drawers to be somewhat stealthy. I'm using a mixture of organic soil from a local nursery mixed with perlite.

Upon sprouting I will begin posting pics.

I'm going to be using cfl only, 100 watt bulbs at 1600 lumens each x 8. These are Bright Effects bulbs in the 6500 range.

Invitations to chime in and offer any advise are most certainly welcome. :pimp:

PS. I used to be a professional standup comedian and a writer for a well known television show before a car accident took me out of the game. These days, I teach economics and political science. Phunny how life turns around and laughs back at ya?

At 1600 lumens those would be very weak lights or 100w replacements(like 23w actual), check these out:

 105 Watt CFL - 400 W Equal - Full Spectrum Daylight 6500K - Spring Lamp - Sunlite 05593 Light Bulb

		Hi Red

These are 100 watt 23 actual... Those you recommended would work in my fixture set up with y adapters with no problem? If so I'm going to order eight of those for the vegging...any recommendations for the flowering? I know they should be in the 2700 range... I have still have the boxes and receipt for these 100watt/23 actual cfls, I could return them and say they didn't grow my pot very well??? j/k

Take a look at my setup, on my grow log. I got 6x 42w (150w equivalent) and 8x 23w (100w equiv.). 2700k for flowering. the 42w are 2600 lumens each and the 23w are 1600 lumens each.

For veg I used same power but with 6500k cfls. 42w 6500k are 2800 lumens and 26w 6500k are 1850 lumens...

There are SO many kind of cfls, it's easy to get lost. If you have any questions, ask me!

She will get well in 2-3 days. It's like any king of flu. Friends got it here and in 2-3 days they were back to normal. Just a wack-you-out flu!

Things are great man, hope same thing for you!

		hey phunny,
 welcome and all that
my question is how many seedlings are you planning on starting?? cause 8 of those babies are gonna pull 840 true watts and approx 134,400 lumens.. thats a little overkill for seedlings. maybe flower? i would personally order 4 of them and use 2 for the first week or so then turn on the other 2 at that point you would be pushing 67,200 lumens aprox and i would imagine that should be enough..
 just my thinking bro

Hey man, 8 23w CFL's will work, and well. Want proof? How about 6 doing it? Check out my grow log(in my sig), I'm only using 6 23w CFL's, so 8 should be better.

Also I would advise you to leave your seedlings in the cups for at least a week or 2 after they have popped. Transplanting as soon as they are above ground isn't needed. I had seeds in peat pucks for a week before the roots started to show through the netting, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

The 6500k color temp bulb is what you want for veg, you will want to replace them with 2700k for flower though. As for the bulbs redtails posted, you need to make sure that you have sockets rated for 105w, or 210w if you were gonna run y adapters, otherwise you might start a fire, or burn out your bulb when you go to use it. I personally would stick to simple 23w or 42w bulbs that you can get at basically anywhere.

wow..stoned like a brick..have you read correctly? 8 23w...that's like equal to 800w and thats like 12 800 lumens...Had more than that one one seedling and it thrived!!!

I should say, take a look at my current grow, and see by yourself!!!

The packaging reads (and I'm high as a muthafucka right now)
 Bright Effects, Daylight
100 watt replacement using only 23 watts
 1600 lumens
 6500 K

I have four of these until I finish the 4 outlet fixture and mount it on a piece of wood to be placed in my cabinet.

Then I will have 8 of these in y adapters for the vegging process, I plan to switch them to 2700 k for the flowering process.

I'm so fucking stoned from the local pizza guy I hang out at...He likes northern lights ALOT! and he wants an A in my macro eco class....

Thanks to all, Happy Christmas and merry new year! Pics in the next day or so...You know your stoned when you spellcheck....several times

8 of those 23w ones should be great, and definitely check out both MB & BD's grows, they both are doing great & mainegrown's getting it dialed in too. I'll have my log posted in a few weeks after I've run the first plant through. I'm using a 200w 6500K cfl, 12,000 lumens, for mine, ordered a 200w 2700K on the 1st but it's stuck in NJ still

Yep... I'm watching several grows at the moment so I can learn from everyone else's experience, trial and error, and setup. I've always enjoyed the herb but find that it means more than ever.

What kind of socket/fixture are you putting the 200watt 6500 cfl into? Any special needs for something like that?

Wish you the best and look forward to meeting up one day.

CFL's that large take a mogul base, same as the HPS/MH lights so I have it in a brightwing reflector about 2" from the top of my plants with a comp fan blowing between to keep heat away and the plant moving to thicken it's stems.

It's a good setup for my box, but with only one bulb it's not as adjustable as the others that were suggested. I got the 2700K bulb at my door about an hour after I posted this morning, might put both in so there's 400w and 2 bulbs/reflectors, but right now I have to use various things to raise/lower my plants and LST to keep the canopy even. Works for me, but some like to raise and lower the various lights instead of the plants (I move both). Good luck with your setup, can't wait to see it running whatever you decide to do!

Note: the plants in the pic are autoflowering plants under 24hrs light, otherwise you wouldn't have the flowering one in front at the same time as veggies and seedlings obviously.

My veg box is VERY similar to Redtails Maine! I'll get some pics up for for ya

The CFL's come with an internal ballast / ignitor... the bulb plugs into an E40 socket and straight into any mains socket...

Hope your grow goes well phunnyman! Best of luck to ya!
