Is this a hermie? Anyone?

Is this a hermie? Is there anything you can do to keep a hermie without risking going to seed... ie. picking off male flowers?

Sure looks like it could be. Honestly with it showing both sexes that early, I don't think you'll be able to pull all the male flowers. I think there's some product out there called reverse or something that's supposed to help...I'd personally just pluck and start over, it looks pretty young so it's not much time wasted. Bag seed? They are almost always hermie in my experience, unless they were pollinated on purpose which is pretty rare.

Ya the seeds were just from a bag. Thanks for your advice. I might try to look for the reverse stuff. I only have 3 plants left after 5. 2 were full males. So if i can salvage it i would like to.

but also don't want to get caught with pollen all over my other girls.

When do i have to start worrying about pollen?

Real soon, I think it takes like 3 weeks for the male parts to mature so they can spread their pollen with enough time for the ladies to lap it up. Smoking hermies is ok if that's your thing but frankly the pollen gives me a headache.

doesn't really look like a hermie as of right now. those very easily could be calyxs that are about to sprout up. if they were male flowers they would grow out more perpendicular to the main stem as male flowers open upside down.

again, no one can give you a definitive answer as of yet.

100% hermie.
If you look you can clearly see a set of balls the 2nd node down. Looks like the plant was FIM'd but didn't react very well to it. :(

Bong, what is FIM? I have pulled the "male" flowers, will that node push out new flowers? and if it WAS a male, will it push out a new male?

Just looked up fimming. but I didn't try that... yet.

I am thinking I might try it though. seems like a good way to get some extra growth.

this is my first grow so i am willing to experiment.

I prefer LST to topping and FIM, no stress on the plant by cutting anything but it still gives you tremendous new growth with relative ease. All it is, is tying the main stem over flat then keep tying branches out so you get a nice flat top...

I don't think removing the male flowers will fix anything... It's more than likely a genetic mutation as to why it's hermaphrodite. I would just learn from your experience and try to do better next time.

I have a cross that always developes those little "balls" but have always turned out hair--not pollen. It always scares the hell out of me, but I have never had seeding problems. I read some varieties develop those calyxes. Good luck and grow on people!:hippy:
