Anyone used one of these yet? I found this in HD in the tool section for a worklight they sell. 2700K and 4200 lumens at 300 watt equivalency using 68 watts. I know its brighter than hell..:cool:

Hey man, I picked that up last week. I was walking around looking for a Y bulb socket adapter and and an extension for my CFL, and then a Home Depot dude asked if I needed help. I actually didn't want to interact with anyone, but he was young and cool, so I told him I needed to add light to my storage room. He then gave me one of these--> ;) and said, "hey, you need to check this bad boy out!"
We then walked over to the bulb aisle, and he was so excited, he lit it up to show me how bright it was. I bought it. Funny thing, this dude had another Home Depot dude hanging around, and they both chuckled when I put it in my shopping cart.
I'm pretty sure they are stoners too
The bulb seems to be doing great so far; 'some good fast vegging going on. I have 2 other 26w CFLs too. Mine are still babies, and I only have a few, but I have no regrets. In a week, I hope to put them under a 600 HID. :D
S'up dudes? So how much is this light from HD? Sounds like it might be a good start for a small setup.

Here it is bro, I'm pretty sure this was it, although I threw away the package so my wife didn't see it...Quote:

Wow, I can hang with that. Thanks for the heads up:thumbsup:
Mike!
i think that 6000k + is much better for veg.. i have a few cfl's in the <3000k range and one t-12 and they love the 6000k t-12 WAY more...idk

I think you'll find better deals on large screw-in CFLs here:
2 to 200 Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulbs : 1000Bulbs.com
pay close attention, to whether you're ordering the 'Regular', or, 'Mogul' screw bases, though ...
I've bought from them, several times , located in Texas, fast shipping, very good Customer Service in case of any breakage, etc...
also, look in their list for the 'odor-neutralizing CFLs' , they really do work ... (only when the lights are On, of course :D)
Yes, I always heard the blue light was much better for veg., and red for bud. Red will stretch the plants in the veg stage, something you don't want, but good for making the flowers grow well. I never had any grow make it to the flower stage. I'd get paranoid about the neighbors when the plants got really fragrant. It was ok as I had an exhaust fan going, pulling it outside, but then the neighbors decided to start doing some exterior house repair right outside my window, so I pulled them. Now that Michigan has emerged from the dark ages and a person can get licensed to grow for certified patients, that's good news for the sick people who really need it and don't have to be at the mercy of the pharmaceutical companies for the outrageous prices they get for their medicines.

tru dat bro...
I'm using 2 of those exact same lights in my setup now. They were $15 and are definitely bright as hell.
I think I'll pick up a couple myself. Interested to see what results would appertain.

Sorry for the old thread bump, but I wanted to share my thoughts.
I saw this the other day. My thought was this: For $15 you can get 3 2-Packs of 26w CFLs. Thats 156w of light for the same price as one of those bulbs. Almost double. Now not only can you distribute the smaller bulbs more evenly around the plant, but what happens if your $15 bulb bruns out? Well you need to run off and buy a new one ASAP, and your out $15. If you lose a single 26w CFL, your out $2.50, and your plant(s) are not likely to suffer from one missing bulb for a day or so.
Granted, your going to spend about $10 bucks in extra light splitters to run the 6 26 watt bulbs, but in the long run I think its a better option.
I did not get a chance to compare relative lumens. Was in a bit of a rush and thats all the math I felt like doing for one day :stoned:
iv been looking for that garage light you mentioned, the 68watt flourescent at 6000K with reflector, from home depot, $24......but cant find it. If you are out there and see this could you give a lil more direction.
As far as department store bulbs go, I'd call the the MOAB. Mother Of All Bulbs.Quote:

I have a 4 bulb vanity fixture ($15 at HD/Lowes) using 2 x 300s (2@ $15) + 2 X 43s. The plants outgrew the height (3 ft) I have above the aeropods), so I moved the fixture high up on one side- horizontally, until 2 days ago.
After reading about the importance of light penetration into the leaf, and that underside lighting was benefical to get full penetration (I assume to allow the leaf do 20% more work), I turned the fixture vertically.
I think I am getting a better light spred this way, while at the same time lighting things up underneath. If anyone is interested, PM me, I have a journal on another site.
