Hi guys i can never find my other threads so heres a quik update.
After breaking my camera a week ago, i decided to not chop my lady until i got a camera.
Today i got camera working and took pics,
The result is ''clear trichs''?? i dunno maybe im missing something let me know guys..
FYI she is 'four ways' 25% satvia 25% Indica 25% ruderalis 25% skunk....
It should start truning cloudy any day. The last 2 weeks is when they change quickly.
well she starting 'frosting' on the 14th september, so its been EXACTLY a month today, Im just not sure of the timeframe from 'frosting' to appear until it finishes?
While the trich color is the best way to determine when to harvest, it's important to look at other other clues Mary gives you. From your pics, most of your hairs are orange. which indicates it's towards the end of your optimal harvest window. Your trichs say "I'm not done yet" but your hairs say "I'm well-done".
My suggestion would be to take a small sample and flash dry it to see if it's the consistency you want. I despise couch-lock from my smoke, so I make sure not to harvest too late. You can always flower it longer if you want more body high, but you can't "un-flower" if it it's too much.
Cheers 'psycho' well its now 3 days since i took a sample and last nite i was upliftingly happy high which is very coool.
I think im gonna take 33% off her today anyway, then just wait a day or two for the rest.
I just thought a couchlock high is better when its cos i want it to last longer.
That's a good idea. Harvest some now, some in another 4-5 days, and the rest in 7-10 days (unless trichs change sooner). It'll all be good, and you'll determine which you like best.
I would be checking the trichs every day, though. I've had trichs go from clear to milky to amber in less than 48 hours.

My eyes are old, but it appears to me in both pic 1 & 4 that there are some amber trics there. In pic 4 where an edge shot of a leaf is back lit, there is amber. Pic 1 looking at the leaves from above there looks like a few small areas that have an amber appearence. Could be the lighting but maybe.
Your plants look good and they look like you will be ready in just a few days probably. Good luck with it.:thumbsup:

I appreciate it alot and it means so much when pro growers are saying ive done good..
So i just took some more pics at lights on, and wow ive never seen so much trich thc on a cannabis plant before.(going from pics on net)
And like 'oldmac said about her going amber that he thought there were some in pic 1 & 4 of my first post,
I hadnt noticed that myself but i took the new ones and put them on me 37 inch lcd and yep 110% for sure there are a few ambers now which are easier to see.
So with that in mind and the fact that 'psycho' said they can be done and dusted within 48 hours, Im gonna take 40% off her now and leave only the middle/bottom buds and the MAIN 2 colas and the other couple of big colas, with those im thinking GO FOR IT.....Lets (try) and hit it so shes 50% amber..
I will take more photos today of whats left and take some shots of the fresh 'cut' stuff..
By the way when she 'hits the max' (this is purely out of interest i have no intentions of doing it) what exactly happens with the stone??
Like does she go from couchlock backwards (like the reverse of what shes done so far??)
Wanted to catch you quick before you started whacking.
Dunno if I'd take more than 30% at a time, from either the roots or the top. Stresses / shocks the plants a lot.

Hi and thanks 'dreaded' for the advice.
Ive just cut a side stem but left the bottom 2 buds - which is what im gonna do with any i cut, then take the lot together on final chop day.
Im gonna take another stem like the one pictured tonite, which will leave 5 main colas (2 big big colas) (3 side colas).
Then theres all buds down below 360 degrees round the base and middle.
Basically over the next 2 days do it bit by bit.
Then on which will be tuesday Im gonna take the lot.
Who now thinks COMPLETE DARKNESS For the next 36 hours would be a good idea, then chop???
(im sure i heard it was good to do that but wasnt sure if it meant when youve already got amber)
The pics ive just posted do show some amber but not lots, but like already said its like a 48 hour countdown now..
The bud pictured ive just cut it off and then 'manicured' it with scissors.
It is soaking wet and is rock solid (prolly about like squeezing an apple)
Now haning in a dark coolish wardrobe with space made for airflow.
Then after 3 days (this is same for the rest) into paper shredded and into a box, then after 2-3 days of that into some mason jars..
Is that about right??

IMO that stuff deserves first-class treatment. So:
- I'm voting against darkness. You're still trying to finish them! Stay on schedule. :thumbsup:
- Don't handle your buds any more than necessary. A few weeks ago I watched some buds under magnification as I handled them. I was amazed at how easily I could just wipe the trichs right off the plant.
- Get something around 30X to look at those trichs. Cough up some cash for something optically worthy of those buds. (Red hairs don't necessarily mean anything. I used to scrog real close under T5's and they could brown pistils in 48 hours.) A jeweler's loupe, a Radio Shack lighted microscope, something... Google eyeclops bionicam for a magnifying camera for $25-40 US. You can get 'em from different shops on Amazon. I'll put up some pics I took with one for ya.
Don't understand the paper / shredded thing. Dry only until the small branches start to snap, not bend. Then right into mason jars. Open 2X daily to "burp" out moisture. Takes 2-4 more weeks, the longer the better. Even months.Quote:

Here's more examples (no particular order) with varying amounts of cloudy and amber trichs. Some of these plants ran 12 weeks or longer, so don't start getting all excited just cause it's been 8-9 weeks with yours. Even when you've got a lot of amber you can still have new clear trichs popping up.

I get what you mean, but either way i reckon shes defo getting ready to finish up, just gonna keep an eye open, and try and pick a perfect harvest.
Either way even if i did it right now, shes the stuff ive had, very strong, im just having a couple of little smokes and i got a right good uppity high with no couchlock, which is real good for me.
But the 2 main colas arent gonna be touched until she is like right at the very peak of her maturity.
I think this will be then 'the perfect all around hqarvest' imo.
I'll get some pics later, also gonna try and get identical sghots of the tops then compare them tomorrow morning - my camera goes in very close and i get a good enough view when its scaled via my pc to tv.

I *think* I can see some amber in yours now, but it might just be the warm glow from the lights. Can't tell for sure.
If you're not into couchlock (I need it for pain) that's probably some pretty nice smoke right now. I'd sure like to see those trichs up close, though-- they are spectacular! I feel like a stalker! :D
Well to be honest 'dreaded' I'll tell you what i like from a smoke.
I like to be able to move but feel heavy when sitting, and like to just literally 'stare' at a decent pc game like fallout 3 and just wander about aimlessly not really doing much and feeling quite spacey..
Oh yeah and like watching tv and not watching but drifting in and out but still being quite aware.....???
Lol if you can 'guide' me to that kind of high (you would be a god if what i said even makes any sense to you)

Hi guys here she is, from today.
HAD A NICE ZOOM IN ON ME LCD AND YEP THERE ARE AMBERS - NOT ON EVery bud but they are there.
I have decided i DONT WANT 100% max total couchlock as last nite i had some cut from 5 days ago and it knocked me out, its already extremely strong.
I think going until there are 50% amber trichs would be too much to handle, I do want to be able to still walk and talk (but while feeling very spaced out):rastasmoke:

Yes the trichs will be a very light amber but like you said you don't want to be talking and walking impaired. I'm sure with those fine beauties you'll be on cloud 9 all day...
Cheers mate - yeah i was like mega stoned (but laughing and aware of stuff but spaced out) and to me it was without doubt 'THE PERFECT STONE' so i aint cut any since last nites (which was cut 5 days ago) should i run upstairs right now and chop a bit off to get same kinda stone or wont the stone change until i see ambers EVERYWHERE???

It difficult to figure out exactly what kind of high you're looking for. As soon as the first amber trichs appear, your 2-week harvest window is open. The longer you let it go, the more couch-lock the high will be. If you want to feel heavy as a house and melt into the couch for hours, 50-60% amber trichs would be good. If you want to be mobile during your high, I wouldn't go more than 20% amber.
But....if you think your stone last night was "perfect," why are you contemplating waiting?

If i leave her will the buds continue to grow even though all the leaves are starting to die???
What are you going for? Quantity or quality? If quality is important, you said it's perfect, I'd harvest now. If you leave it, it will of course get bigger, but your quality of high is also changing.
You have a great bud there, and IMO the extra 2 grams you'll get by waiting another few days won't be work the degradation of the THC. But it's up to you. :thumbsup:

Great thread guy's. I started my first indoor grow (Haze) in August and this has been a tremendous help to me.
I just started 12/12 on some 20+" plants and I'm hoping in about 8.5 weeks I have as good a harvest as themasta09 did.

Im sorta wanting a bit of all kinds of stones,
I WANt 'happy/funny/spacey/heavy/hyper/chilled/randomness' so to get that much variety the only way to be sure was to cut the plant bit by bit,
Although this could stress a plant once she starts to yellow it dont make too much difference anyway.
I last nite smoked some which was 6 days old, and it was again a perfect high, the next batch was cut 3 days ago (may not quite be dry) hopefully this stuff will last me a good few days,
Then i have a full branch i cut last nite and i want this to dry properly, and this stuff will have to get me to at least another 2/3 weeks as the next colas im taking i want to dry 100% spot on, and cure, cos thats the 'cream' of the crop, and the main colas will be around 30-60% amber so it will e a very nice strong smoke.
I have taken some photo today and can see more amber so shes defo ready, i may even cut light from midnight tonite and chop the rest thursday so she get 36 hours darkness to finish and ripen..(i heard full darkness then cut helps plant to finish?)
The one on left is 3 days i think, and the one on the right was cut yesterday.
I will do a bit more 'manicuring' when the outer of them is a bit drier, as all my buds are soaking wet with THC as photos show...
