The Lisbon Treaty - the end of Amsterdam?
For anyone that doesn't know what is going on in Europe at the moment here is a quick catch up:
The EU has written up a treaty to compine all european countries together almost like "the United States of Europe" but in doing this they are taking control away from small and medium size countries and giving it to bigger countries like the UK, Germany & France so they will basically control Europe, not all control will be taken from the small countries
I.E: Germany's voting power - 18% Irelands voting power - 0.8%
The Treaty has been about for many years, in 2005 it was rejected by the dutch and the french and was put on hold, other countries passed it because it was their politicians that voted it in, not the people.
Ireland is the only country that has currently has a vote in whether the treaty will go through or not, in 2008 we had a big referendum and Ireland voted NO, the big knob politicans from the EU went mad and told us we were doomed......................so then the recession hits.
While in Holland a few weeks after the referendum we were doing the rounds around the coffee shops and every shop we went into we were thanked by the staff and other customers simply for voting no, they later explained that a yes vote would mean the closer of more coffee shops and the eventual disappearence of the cannabis industry as the EU have strict anti-drug laws and will enforce them when they are able to, all they need is the treaty to go through so they will have control over Holland.
Aware of the fact that cannabis is still illegal in Holland they just explained that once the police are forced to take a hard stance then they would be screwed. but they were happy it didnt go through so nothing to worry about........
until now, the EU has forced Ireland to vote on the exact same treaty because they didnt like our first answer, so as you can see democracy is alive and healthy here.
so tomorrow (2nd october) Ireland will vote again, and the worst thing i'm seeing is that most people look to be voting yes, the main reason, the EU promise's job's from big companies, even with no evidence this will happen.
by the time alot of people read this post i'm sure the vote will be already through. but i thought i'd let everyone know, go to Amsterdam before the coffee shops are all closed down.

cool! as long as its not with ryanair, after their advertisment in the Irish Independant, i will never fly with them again.
There 3 reasons to vote yes:
1: Good for Jobs
2: Good for the Economy
3: To piss off Sein Finn, Joe Higgins and Declan Ganley
what great reasons to throw away the countries freedom and independance.
and at the bottom of the ad "Don't be a loser and vote yes on friday"
and the main reason for Ryanair wanting people to vote yes and this is what Micheal O'Leary said himself "vote yes because our govenment is incompetent and this way i can force them to sell me Aer Lingus"

welcome to the world of the super-states. you are now experiencing the same sort of centralization of power that we've been fighting back on this side of the atlantic for the better part of the last century. it's an endless cycle that does not bode well for individual rights. as the governments of your individual countries have been usurping more and more of your personal rights in the name of your protection and welfare, so too has the eu been gobbling up the prerogative of those countries in the name economic development and expedience.
the perks seem great at first. increased importance on the world stage, enhanced economic clout and heightened respect across the globe, you are now even more of a power to be feared. the downside is that any hope you may have had to regain a bit of independence for yourself and your little corner of the world has almost totally disappeared. you are now, more than ever, a tiny cog in the machine and your importance to that machine is dependent on the strength you add to the collective and how well you obey.
i'm afraid you've wandered a bit too far down the path of socialism over there to do a whole hell of a lot about it. face it, the mob has spoken and they've decided it's too much trouble to take responsibility for their own affairs. your choices are clear. either shut up and be a good little monkey or fight back and try to break away from the clutches of the super-state. good luck.

The sad thing is the majority rulled. Its troubling that so many people don't seem to understand whats going on. And now there talking about Blair being the supreme leader. Does not bode well.

the worst thing is the mob did speak with a clear no last time, but then they douped stupid people into voting yes by false promises, the creation of more jobs in Ireland is based on a 'handshake'. seriously. i'm still shocked.
but what can be done? another referendum? they won't have it cos they got the answer they wanted.

the powers that be will keep harping on the joys of democracy and bringing up their favorite issues until they have finally duped enough people into going their way. once that happens all discussion is closed and it takes an act of god to regain the people's lost power. the lie of the ballot box has stolen more freedom than any number of tyrants.

I remember when Blair switched his religion a year or so ago from Protestant to become Catholic and remember thinking back then there had to be some larger reason for that. It just seemed a little strange to me at the time that someone would switch religions so late in life unless it was for marriage or something. Maybe this is why. He needs to appeal to a more broad electorate now. I look for Barry switching his religion next. :wtf:

This was bad for Ireland, bad for europe, and bad for america. Attention now turns to Czech President Vaclav Klaus. Europes last Thatcherite in office anywhere. If he can delay his countries ratification beyond the upcoming British Election (June?), there is a good chance this sham can be sunk. As, if seems very likely, the conservatives win the election, they will give the Brits the referendum on the Lisbon Treaty that Blair-Brown dishonestly denied their people. If that happens, they will vote NO, which will theoretically derail the whole process.:pimp:

david cameron said if the irish turn lisbon down again he would be in favour of a referendum..so no referendum for the british( surprise, surprise)
and why would british politicians want a referendum..this is what british government wants..the only reason they dont have the euro is because people would riot if they lost the good old pound with the queens head. but they are firm believers in a centralised europe.they have a large population so they get more say than a smaller country
the poles are going to pass it through parlament in the next ten days and the czechs are running it through there supreme court as we speak.. europe looks fucked...
get your self to amsterdam soon before its gone.

Don, actually I completely agree with all of what you just said, which is almost always true in general. his message is the usual liberal bullshit, but his impression of the Hillarybeast crying just cracks me up.
but sorry, way off topic. :stoned:
