No clue bro, honestly i'd rather spend a good $300 on a nice glass bong :pimp:
cause they are all fancy schmancy and relatively few smokers have them I suppose. The light headed feel ya get when ya hit one is new, but worth 500 bucks..... hell no. By a ROOR bong and call it a day.
Yeah I think it's the novelty of it.
Though it is better for you to smoke from a vape but I myself would rather buy a nice piece of glass. Maybe a nice bong or a sweet spoon pipe.
I wonder how many they sell a year. The markup must be massive.
My skanky sister- in- law used to date a dude that owned a smoke shop and believe it or not ,the markup is minimal compared to everything else in those stores. If ya got extra cash, by a Vapo, why not. Looks nice and classes up a smoke session to some. Just dont show up with anything with seeds and stems and you will be fine. I cant even find schwag anymore in S. Texas.
they are so expensive cuz they are so nice...
Is it because people are willing to pay that much for them?
People are willing to buy snake oil so I guess it might be that.Quote:

you know if your a mister fixit type of guy, you could probably create a vaporizor that works better than the volcano. pretty much what it is is a system of a ceramic heating element which is designed to allow air to flow over it and reach a stabalized temperature, then it is directed into a cup and a bag fill system. you could buy the bag system which is really useful, and adapt your own designs to it. and as a handyman you could even create a better product that hold the temperature more evenly, and doesnt experience the fluctuations, or actually reads the temperature more accurately than the volcano. its just about putting your mind to it. the temperature control is really just a potentiometer that controls the voltage to the coils. imagine a hot glue gun with a temperature guage and a fan. that is a basic vaporizer in its own sense. you could buy a volcano and take off the cover and see how basic it really is and then you would understand. as for the digital ones, a little more work, but they do sell laser thermometers which you could fashion into a readout for your home-made vape. i myself have thought about looking into creating one myself. i like the knob style control, but i hate the numbers, i wish it read as a temperature reading like an oven rather than like a guitar amp. the least they could have done was make it so you can crank your volcano up to 11 and really rock out.
i own a volcano. and vaporizing in general is nice, its just the features of the volcano that are whats cool. they have a solid, or an easy open valve, and they have accessories that let you vaporize your hash oil without it draining into the internals of your volcano, which i had a friend do, i ended up having to leave my volcano on high over night a few times to burn it out, and it worked better after. a lot of the money comes from the bag system, many vaporizers out their are whip style or you just inhale directly off them, the bag can get passed around several times, and the range of temperatures suits the smoking style of many a toker. all around its just a nice system and its the price people pay. think of it like the PS3. if you dont get enough sales eventually the price drops. and with it being highly recommended in cali by the docs i dont see the price dropping soon. atleast not by much. i kinda lucked out, i got mine for free, but i had the bag and valve system stolen in a police raid.
I think in some cases you are paying for the name brand... you can also get some very cheap ones which do exactly the same job.
Like everything else in this world you get what you pay for. Personally havent invested in a vape because the wifey doesnt see the point of spending the money for one and it would cut into the findage for our glass collection. :)
My friend has a cheap little vape, it's just like a glass bulb with a tube, we put some bud in, deated it and had like 2 or 3 hits each and were both :stoned: for like 3 hours, it was amazing. Usually I get high easily and stay stoned for a while but this was an intense high for a long time.
I highly recommend!

Yeah I would totally love to get one. I do plan on getting a Volcano when I can.
Yeah I was gonna get one but they're expensive as and I can sacrifice my health and the great, clean high for my money!Quote:

Dude...you always have to live with what you bought, long after you forget how much you paid for it. Volcano rocks.
If you break the price down over how long it would last if taken care of the price isnt really all that much.Think how many times you could hit it before it dies,or if it lasts forever. you would get your money back in use of it.
