I use it every time I feed my girls- I use about a tablespoon per gallon of water that I have my flowering nutes in-disolve the molasses in warm water then stir into feed
NEVER. That's my opinion at least. It's not neccessary and doesn't really help, it's just an old tale. Plants don't need granny's sugar syrup added to their water, that's ridiculous, they're plants. If some ppl think it helps, that's fine, but I think it's kind of like a placebo affect of sorts. There's also "the pill", which apparently works wonders, too. But I might actually believe that one, never know with hormones. Kind of curious to try it. Also, aspirin will turn a plant male in a hurry, though that's not usually helpful.
Dude first time i used it, everything got greener:thumbsup: The new growth looked great and the older growth just got a bit thicker. I think its made my buds bigger. Iv been useing the molasses more then my ferts as of late. 1 tbls per 1 gallon of water twice a week will do ya:thumbsup::rasta:
I wouldn't over do it, with the mollasses. It does stain the normally white roots; brown, by harvest time....it could clog them?
I recommend ...once a week...last 4 weeks of flowering, max. Mix very, very well; with warm water.
Mollasses is a good source of both iron and calcium thats why its a good additive ....as far as clogging or staining....the molasses is dissolved in water, being dissolved the key word
That's true, however, iron and calcium are secondar nutrients which are usually readily available, not something you need strong doses of. Many nutrient solutions contain them. Anyway, everyone has their own methods I guess. Side question, anyone have any bug problems from using this sugar water?, lol.
molasses contains several micro nutrients including calcium and magnesium as well as the trace minerals of copper, manganese, iron and zinc. you can substitute molasses for calmag+ if using distilled or RO water.

this information is applicable to 1 Tbsp of molasses. most recommend using 1 Tbsp per gallon of water, although some like to bump it up to 2 Tbsp per.
86thcreator, molasses works. molasses has a lot of carbohydrates that the plant can use. your plants create sugar (which is a carb) during photosynthesis. how did you test it? you noticed no positive effects at all?
i use molasses from start to finish. i use 1 Tbsp/gallon on days when the plants get water but no food. they seem to love it. i always notice a thickening in the under growth.

I think "usually readilly avalible" are the keywords here! When you grow plants that are "treesize" it is hard to provide them with all the necessary nutes.I personally have a hard time keeping up with my gardens needs...My nute needs far exceed what is on the side of the bottle..I LOVE the EXTRA "BOOST" it gives my ladies...WORKS for ME .....I vote "YES".....With NO bug problems from this NASTY sugarwater.....Try it for yourself,if it works for YOU that is ALL that matters.PERIOD!!!!!!PEACE....Quote:

I couldn't explain it like she did, I ain't a chemist ... but, if you're buying carbo loaders, etc., you're wasting your money, molasses does the same thing, near as I can tell ... and, I only have used it indoors, I would suspect that it 'may', indeed, attract insects ... also, I wouldn't use it as a foliar spray, as I think it might clog the pores ... Thanks for all the info, guys, sounds like a good source of micronutes. In my 8 years I haven't used many additives, I prefer the natural way and always have a good harvest and tall plants (9-14ft.), but I grow in the blackdirt valley. I had heard of using molasses, but thought it sounded kind of odd, kind of like superstition. Ed Rosenthal wrote in Marijuana Question: Ask Ed "the sugar in molasses would never pass from the soil into the roots". I'm kind of a bookworm and info nut, but I may try it as you guys seem to swear by it. Anyway, thanks again, guys. If it works, I'm never too proud to admit I'm wrong. Peace.
hey, no prob, it's all about questions, answers, and opinions, etc :D ... in all fairness though, it was Ed Rosenthal's ex-writing partner, Mel Frank, that was the botanist, and 'brains' of the team :thumbsup: but, most of his writings are way over my head, Rosenthal is much easier to understand ... Rosenthal was more the 'publicist-promoter' of the pair ... :smokin:

First Molasses booster I've seen that actually tried it in a double-blind, (details?).

Did a double-blind with Superthrive and found it to be worthless!
I was about to set-up 4 clones for a molasses test. 2 with, 2 without.
But, "Your words have Iron".
I'll add some blackstrap to one of the G13s and sorta ease into it. ;-}

When they look good, it's quite common to attribute that to the last additive or procedure. Kinda like a "lucky shirt" " Every time I wear this shirt, my team wins!!!" :wtf:

One of the effects that is often overlooked when using molasses is the soil drying cycle. Molasses is syrupy sugar and when it dries in the soil it crystalizes like sugar does. The crystalization creates an effect called chelating, which breaks the ionic bonds of other elements present in the soil, making it available for uptake by the roots. Basically, the sugar comes out of solution with water by dessication (drying), at the same time its drying into an organized crystal form that grows and as it grows it jams the ionic bonds of locked up elements apart, making the elements flake up and become available. The same microscopically sharp crystals puncture and poke the roots and hairs which stimulates some root processes, and of course microbes can use some of the molasses too. Remember that science experiment with the celery stalk and the dyed water? Better yet, the white carnation placed in blue dyed water....the plant will suck molasses up the same way making the juice in the plant stickier. That sugar content will translate into more resin production, and make the plant taste sweeter overall. Because of the chelating effects, using molasses combined with proper ph and other factors guarantees the soil will not lock up nutrients, and make flushing at harvest easier and faster. I would recommend 1-2 tbsp per every 5 gal of soil and the same for every 5 gal of hydro reservoir, every watering during flower, til harvest.

Fun theory but...
Bottom line with me is testable, reproduceable, results.
So, I'm still looking for a "lab partner" to run a sideby side test.
Many of our "old growers tales" have basis in fact.
Many do not!
I like to sort them out.
Many of these "tales" require you to "believe in them".
Plants are not as easily fooled as new growers.
And I grow some very sceptical ladies.:D
So I test.:)
It's a hassle, but it saves time, money, and effort in the long run.
Fer instance, I no longer waste $$ on Superthrive or Magical rooting compounds thanks to side by side testing.
Startin' to look like I'm da only guy here that uses a scientific method on "common knowledge", hand-me-down, information.:(

Heya Weez! I've just taken six clones from a lovely new mum, and so far, they're doing all right. I've put four of 'em in a homebrew bubble cloner (two in rockwool, two in rapid rooters), and two of 'em in dixie cups with soil.Quote:

Um, yeah, with some hard disk room and decent DVR software, a webcam or two should do.
I use a dedicated 750gb. dvr and 4 color/IR cameras.
The whole schmeer was under $400 on ebay.
A little more than the cost of one z. onna street.
Bottom line, with present street prices for meds, I'm too broke not to have security.
