looking for bubble bucket grow guide
Im looking for some noob instructions for growing in a bubble bucket, looking for information such as what ppms at what stages, water level info, how often to drain etc basically enough information to start growing in a bubble bucket if you are completely clueless about how to grow in it. if someone could link me to a good guide i would appreciate it.
EDIT-darn i guess i should have posted this in hydroponics

Michael,
Try starting with Latewood??s Legacy http://boards.cannabis.com/hydroponi...cussion-3.html
Many say that it??s good place to start.
Some say a little difficult to understand. I read it through once?..the second time I made notes in my own language?.all together, that I could understand. Most of what you ask for is there, it??ll just take a little personalizing.
Good luck to you sir,

thanks, i checked it out but i think i need something dumbed down a little more. It has great info on nutes and stuff like that but I have never even seen a bubble bucket in person and i dont know anything about it. I dont know how much the roots need to be suspended or anything like that. Do all the roots need to stay wet? These basic questions and more are the ones I don't know. I guess im looking for a guide the same calibre as the noob instructions for growing the dankness but for bubble buckets.

Have you ever seen a fish tank with an air stone bubbling away ? If so , then you have seen one. They come in many different shapes and sizes. Buckets are just easy to find and use. Most do one plant der bucket. 10 or 20 gallon tubs can handle many more.
It depends on your room and how tall and the light.
Tell us what you can afford in the way of lights and things and room.
When you do a bubbler, you place a netpot ( look them up ) in the lid of the bucket. Place an air stone in bucket. Bring water level just to the bottom of the Netpot. The idea is for the air bubbles to splash the netpot. Never let the netpot sit in water (unless EBB and Flow). partly fill the netpot with hydrtron rocks or lava rocks. Place rooted clone or seedling in and fill the rest of the way. Place in bubbler. Mix your nutes and away you go. to start you may have to hand water with water from the bucket untill the roots start to hang in the water.
Did I say keep the PH from 5.2 to 5.8. This is what the PH gods say. Do not stay from the PH path or certain DOOM will avail you.

Thank you very much, hard to find such basic info. i guess i have seen one then, i used to have a fish tank. i plan on building a 5 gallon bubble bucket, and if thats all there is to it is a container, hydroton, netpots, bubbler, nutes and airstone I think i will be fine. I guess the reason I was so confused was looking at the instructions here: Lets Build a Bubble Bucket *Step by Step* - Grasscity.com Forums all kinds of pvc fittings, multiple holes drilled, are these all necessary? and how do you know how high to have the water? I guess its okay for some of the roots to stay completely dry?

Michael,
An important starting point is to decide whether you want just 1 bucket or more. You can build a very nice bubbler bucket without the need for circulation. But for multiples the circulation factor makes the initial build more complicated?..but the maintenance from that point on? simplified.
For a single bucket, take the time to look at the Weezard??s gallery??he??s worked simplicity to the n??th degree.

All that is unnecessary for a single bucket.
and how do you know how high to have the water
LOC NAR did that one above.
I guess its okay for some of the roots to stay completely dry?
Nothing is going to survive ??completely dry?. That??s one of the reasons for the bubbles, to aerate the solution and to splash enough moisture onto the roots to keep them from drying out.
Again?..luck to you.

ok good im only doing one bucket to see if i am any good at growing like this, thanks. Just need to know like the water levels after the seed or clone has lots of roots, does it stay the same through all stages or do i keep it just to the bottom of the the netpot the whole grow?

same through out the whole grow.

ah thank you very much. sorry a couple more questions, in a 5 gallon bucket, where is the 5 gallon mark? is it at the rim of the bucket? I want to know so I kind of know how many gallons I actually have in the bucket so I know much nutes to give them. I hope this makes sense. and how much does the pH fluctuate day to day using only general hydroponics flora micro, gro, and bloom?

what do you guys do with the plant when you need to change the water?

The initial height could even be a little variable based on how active the bubbler/s are. If you used multiple stones and a good strong air pump the sparkle from the bubbles popping on the surface might even start you a little below the bottom of the netpot. After you decide on which equipment you want?..do a dry run (no plant) and see how moist the medium stays. That will influence your starting height.
same through out the whole grow.
My opinion varies from cigarettes a little. As the roots begin to become established in the nutrient solution?.allowing the level to fall some could be beneficial as keeping the root cube too moist could eventually cause problems. Lots of replies offers lots of methods??all have merit.

Place the netpot into the bucket and fill to your desired working level?..then measure how much water you used. (gonna be in the neighborhood of 3 ½ gallons with a 6? netpot)
and how much does the pH fluctuate day to day using only general hydroponics flora micro, gro, and bloom?
Only experience will tell
what do you guys do with the plant when you need to change the water?
Prepare a second bucket and simply move to the other bucket. (Be sure that the temperature of the solution is the same)
Good luck,

thank you. questions are done for now, im sure I will have more when i start buying the supplies.

when you guys put your nutes in your res do you go by what the bottle says or do you keep adding nutes to the water until you reach the right ppm in the res?

man this site is starting to stink (and not in a good way), its getting a little too dead for me. Any person who has grown hydro should know this question.

keep adding nutes to the water until you reach the right ppm. first add your calmag and any other kind of products or powders in first unless given an order from the manufacture. also remember if you add powders you should let you tank stir abit before adding your next nutrient cause they dont disolve quickly and can spike your ppm after adding the rest. also you must keep ratio of nutes correct if you are using a multipart nute system like "sensi bloom or grow". also i dont suggest foxfarm in hydro setup with pumps or hoses cause they tend to get lots of sedement from the wormcastings. ff is great in soil tho!! do what the bottle says on ratio mixtures but add nutes accordingly to your ppm monitor. if i missed something chime in
also you have to give us atleast 1 pic update! its the law. haha i keed and oh this site responds slowly cause most of us are working then smoking way to much to type!! haah

thanks, i would post a pic but there is nothing to take a pic of lol. I haven't bought the supplies yet. Does everyone agree with the ppms listed on this schedule http://www.genhydro.com/genhydro_US/GH_Feed-Chart.pdf if you use general hydroponics flora series? are any of the ppms listed too high for certain stages?
