Everyone has their own ritual while smoking. Certain ways you hold the lighter, the strength of your inhale, how long you hold it in, what you'll drink or each specifically for it, how long you wait per hit, etc.
Over time, everyone builds these little nuances and details to their smoking.
What're yours and do they work?
I have been fine tuning my ritual for a long time... First, Its gotta be grinded, and good. Meta hand grinder is good, coffee grinder is better. I pack most bowls full, no more than I can take in one hit though.Quote:

I dont smoke "community" bowls because I get more efficiently baked off my way, I like green hits, and take to big of hits, it wouldnt be fair.

Too much work and effort.
I'm almost always smoking with one other person, sometimes its a group of 3, and I rarely smoke in large groups anymore. When I'm with just one other guy (who typically also has a very high tolerance) we usually weigh out .35 to .45 of top grade and divide that into two bowl packs. We take huge tokes so it usually only takes a short while to smoke.
A lot of people claim to need to smoke more in one sitting then that (it comes out to roughly .2 each) but I inhale very very deeply and take very large rips.
With my bong atleast, it milks very fast and I pull hard for a good while completely milked and then I carb the bong really fast and hold it in a good while.
As far as lighting it goes, the buds always grinded very well and and I light the whole bowl for about a second until the whole bowl starts to cherry itself as one.
I am a believer in the idea that the bong capacity is the size of the hit. I fill it to capacity and inhale it in one go. I don't really even use a bong, I use a Zong with a double Z neck. I cannot stand bongwater touching me. Thats nasty.
I like to fill the base of my bong half way with water and then the neck with ice. If I want to get ripped I'll hold the flame to the weed until it is burned away. It usually takes a full lung full to kill the bowl. I hold it in for about 3 seconds and exhale out my nose without lifting my mouth from the bong. Then I clear it.
If I'm just kicking back and relaxing I take small bong rips off the corner of the bowl. Rotate, take another, and repeat. That way I get a good dozen hits off it, and it never gets gross cause every hit is green.

You must exhale fully before you hit anything. there is no experienced smoker that hasnt met a clown who donst inhale the smoke and leaves it in there mouth. Exhale, pull whatever you have, then inhale. bored? then play chicago in a car to hot box it out. Chicago is where you can only Exhale your smoke when the opposing player chooses to exhale his. If you lose on a regular basis the term "bitch" shall be aquired.
Weed gets so slow for me during the winter. come this may me and 10 foot stalks will be reunited.

open bag, take a wiff
grab some nugs
turn them over to decide if i like that one.
grind it up, any grinder, i have a really good plastic one that kiefs well.
pack it up, i usually grind up atleast enough for maybe 2 bowls.
hit it, hold it, pass it.
usually it passes around some, or i wait maybe a minute or two between hits.
as for the preperation, i need a drink, anything but milk will do, and milk suffices sometimes. i cant drink the tap water here, if you only knew what was in it.
Arizona Juice is the shit, 99c for a double can of the best juice ever. Gotta get watermelon, or grape. Cherry Dr. Pepper is nice too.
hold the hit for maybe 5 seconds, put the bowl back, pass it, hold it a second longer.
as for the weed, the cool thing is i use/roll on a wooden chessboard, so its a large flat area, very useful. When i grind up a lot of weed, i like to shape my mound into something, circles, squares, pentagons, yesterday it was a 3.5g paisley pattern, triangles, just to pretty things up a bit.
packer has first hit, and deuces can be called, but only in rotation, and second bowl goes opposite direction. and it continues in that way.
music is always on, pandora, or iTunes, something. Bone thugs is nice, most people are ok with it even if they dont like the genre as a whole.
something to try, turn the tv on, mute it. turn your favorite music on. smoke, watch tv, listen to music. its the best way, you can decide your own story, while the music is pleasing.
oh, and do the hot water bong trick. trust me, its completely worth it. turn your tap to the hottest you can put your hand in the water, not too hot, your bong is glass, and you still have to hold it mind you.
its smooth, and refreshing. nothing like what instinct tells. no naysayers unless you are experienced, and then there wont be any naysayers.
plus, its a good reason to fill your bong with fresh water each session.
Well I own a bong and my preferred hit includes:
* Ice or Otter pops put into an Ice Tray and used in an Ice Catcher
* Cold Gatorade or Tea in the bongs base
* My big RooR diffuser
* Ash catcher with hot water in it or hot tea (REALLY flavors the smoke)
This way, if we have things with really strong flavors like Sobe or Gatorade, and with otter pops or those other drinks frozen and used as ice, we get smoke that is literally a little colored. We used grape gatorade with grape gatorade ice in the top and just Water in the ash catcher. Holy crap the smoke is faintly blueish purple!
And the inhaled smoke tastes almost like candy, not as strong, but definitely even around hookah tastes, sometimes even stronger.
Anyway,
I like to corner it when I burn it, but move towards the center. So I crisp up the corner and save a little weed but also get a good hit.
I inhale a bit faster on the bong since its filtering through 2 different liquids. Through the ash catcher with the hot water it literally almost eliminates any harshness in the smoke.
The cold water recools it down, and makes it even less harsh, and the ice makes it a refreshing it.
I wait until I see a thick blanket of smoke in there. I'm not talking like light, I literally mean like the bong has nothing but a thick, thick bunch of smoke in there, its velvety when I remove the ash catcher and inhale faster. Sometimes I'll cap the bong and take a deep breath before finishing my hit off.
I build it up slow, but if I lit it too hard or I have to light it a lot to get anything, it pretty much builds itself up.
I try to hold it in for 5+ seconds, its a big hit, there is TONS of THC getting into my blood stream only within the 1st 2-3 seconds. Its hard to hold in sometimes so I might cough, but very rarely with an ash catcher/ice.
When I have to use no ice or ash catcher, sometimes I'm not used to the harshness that also comes with smoking from the normal carb that came with my bong or smoking blunts/joints...but I can do those. For my personal bong and the way I normally use it though, I take my hits by lighting it nicely, letting it build up, and inhaling it quickly and letting it sit in my lungs for a decent amount of time.
For different bongs/methods of smoking however, its subjective. And every time I take a break from smoking I usually get pretty active exercise wise and reinstate my lungs to perfect healthiness...meaning that when I start smoking again I can't take hits even close to my old ones, my friends told me, after my first time smoking in 40+ days, to not take the hits I used to take since I can't handle it.
I don't see bongs as 'work and effort'. It's enjoyable to me, never work.
The girls I usually smoke with like blunts cuz they can hit it gently...I hate that wacky tabaccy.
I have also noticed that girls really like blunts for the nice and slow pull they offer. Actually, the only person I've ever seen puke after hitting a bong too hard was a girl. Weird...
Anyways, first thing is retrieving the bong and deciding how I want to smoke it for that session: super cold water with ice in the tube or warm water for a smooth therapeutic hit (don't knock it until you try it). I usually grind my buds up and leave the weed in a small lengthwise folded piece of paper for dumping into the bowl. After I load one up and pack it down ever so slightly, I corner the bowl but at the same time rip it hard enough to smoke half the green off the top. I always try and hold this first hit as long as possible because I know the first hit gets you the most buzz. Then, after that first monster hit, I spark up small corners of the rest of the green and smoke it slowly. I always hit it super hard once, then take my time with the rest of the bowl.

leave as soon as possible for my dudes house is usually packed full of high school kids, who think they know to much, get home open my bag(never check my bag when i buy anymore... cause i just don't get ripped off... i like to save it till i'm about to smoke... the suspense is awsome.) examine the weed for a couple minutes(well till my lady bitches cause she aint been stoned all day)... then apologize to it for smoking something so beautiful(for real ask my lady) load a fat bong hit (more like 3 hits to the typical one... i like to preserve as much as i can... but i also hate loading 6 seperate bong hits) for me and my lady.
Important(not really) i do not gring my hits, i know i'm growing lame in this last year of teen-hood but... to brutal. it takes me a half an hour to stop coughing... welll atleast when my buddy makes it for me... he like to throw unsuspected pieces of hash in from time to time, just to see if you'll pass out.
i like to just barely touch the weed with my lighter, suck kinda hard at first get a little cherry going, retract the lighter flame then inhale long and smooth... maybe light it again if i need to(anyone bored yet) then i like to hold my hits for a good amount of time... not ghost hit, mostly cause i have an issue with coughing... very loud cough, but not just spit it out like venom. then i vegitate infront of some tv screen or go to school, or get drunk... fuck or... you know... whatever i would do normally

Got to call the wife in, if shes home we aways some together, i never have been a guy for grinding but i do break the nug up a little by hand. take a nice fat corner rip and hold it for maybe 5+ secs. she rips just as hard as me and hate to smoke blunts. latley things have changed and we have been smoking the gravity bong:stoned: pack just the hit rip then pass.

Everyone has his own way of smoking but i dont have any particular way of smoking i always smoke in different ways sometimes i inhale with deep breath and sometimes i inhale with light breath depends upon the conditions of my health. I dont believe in one way of smoking we should have something difference in each bong.
