big problem need answers

first off i read the instructions for ocean breeze at least twice and the soil is good for 3week or so out the bag no nutes. my babies were at least 3 weeks old startd from clones and potted with power flower so 3 weeks are up i transplant with the ocean breeze and i decided to get greedy i added three cap fulls per gallon and proceeded to feed. now my situation is that leaves are getting brown spots and leaves are burning up some were already burnt but catch my drift what can i do? Please help i went and got a ph tester because advice from shops around me said ph levels in the water were high also those tested to around 8 i tried to balance them out to around 7 that didn't work so I dropped them to 4 i flushed out each 5gl twice and my runoff was also 4 is there a chance for a comeback...?or are my plants done also out of the six they are showeing individual differences in how this situation is panning out but also know i am working on my humidity levels so things tend to be humid at times... please help :rastasmoke:

Whoa dude, this is scary stuff. You went from pH 8 to pH 4?

Please copy/paste this troubleshooting form to your next post and answer the questions as best you can. Any pictures you can provide will help also. http://boards.cannabis.com/plant-pro...ml#post2000155

In the meantime, I believe you have 2 distinct issues, first, your pH is way out of range, second, overnuting.

Post the form. Depending on how bad your plant looks/how long this has been going on, it should be easy to fix both problems and get you back on track.

I need to double check a couple of things with you:

When you got the clones were they already rooted or did you root them?
Plants are at least 3 weeks old?
You just transplanted into Fox Farms Ocean Forest not Ocean Breeze, correct?
At time of transplant you fed Fox Farms Grow Big at what rate? Is that the Fox Farms recommended rate?
Do you have the Fox Farms feeding charts? If not, you need them. FoxFarm Soil & Fertilizer Company

Your Fox Farm Ocean Forest (not ocean breeze / ocean spray) soil is EXTREMELY hot! It sounds like these babies went from neutral soil and no nutes to hot soil and overnuting all at once. Their roots are cooked.

Here's my advice to you:
1. You must flush. Read this sticky about flushing and follow the directions. http://boards.cannabis.com/plant-pro...ml#post1840641
2. DO NOT feed anything. Water only with pH adjusted water (correct range) until new growth looks normal. Then you can resume feeding at reduced levels. Work up slowly. Some nutrient feeding charts state feeding at the maximum rate! Just because the chart says it doesn't mean you shouldn't use less, just never more.
3. Fox Farms recommends that you feed with every other watering. In between, just pHed water.

MJ is picky about her pH and sensitive to overnuting. You must be more in control of your nutrients, water, pH. Practice getting the pH right. If you can't get your current tester to work you can get a digital pH meter for about $35, they are easier to work with.

The correct pH range for soil is 6.3 ~ 6.7. You adjust pH one time only after adding all nutes, etc., to your water. Also, each strain is different. That's one reason you see different symptoms on different plants. Only experience and research can help you with strain dependent issues.

Ventilation changes in your grow environment are needed. MJ must have fresh air to thrive and ventilation is key. A thermometer/hygrometer to measure temps and humidity is also a must. All too much to cover here, check out the forums for growroom designs.

You need to spend quality time reading the FAQs and stickies in the grow forums. They will explain everything you need to grow, harvest and cure MMJ.

im new to this starting as of last night so i appologize for the multi-posting my comp froze and i started a new one and both When you got the clones were they already rooted or did you root them?
Plants are at least 3 weeks old?this is the 4th week

At time of transplant you fed Fox Farms Grow Big at what rate? Is that the Fox Farms recommended rate?3 cap fulls meaning the cap to the bottle, yeah it was a bit of no thinking but i figured the measurments were close to a tablespoon as i think about it now like homer simpson it says teaspoon on the bottle.i have read the fox farm recomendations and will reply when i have them in sight, im sure you read them i guess you were telling me to refer to them.. my bad

i dont think you did anything wrong just balance out ur ph and keep it consistant

I need to add mag to that soil usually after about a month so hittin em with a little nute is not bad 1/4-1/2 strength. then lets roots grow into newly transplanted soil and no newts fer a couple weeks. you migh twant to add some calmag to your water

i flushed them out again in the morning with normal water that had a ph of 8.5 and higherst top on the chart. the first drip out came rated a ph6 i also checked the entire amount came out which came to 6.5 for some REASON if someone could answer that? better than the ph4 of yesterdays results.. after 2 flushes on all 6 my average was ph6 for the worst off looking one which leaves are dwindling just the bottom ones. 6.5 for 4 and a 6 for one that is not soo bad. cal mag for the 8.5 tap water?

Do you know the pH of your soil before you added anything to it? Do you know the pH of the nutes you have added? These things along with your irrigation water affect your runoff pH. Just so happens you seem to be in the correct range right now.

As I said before, don't feed anything else right now, not even calmag. Your soil is new and that brand of soil is known for being heavy on the nutrients.

From here on out, when you water or flush, make sure the water is in the 6.3 ~ 6.7 pH range. When the new growth looks like it is coming back in without showing damage (old burnt growth will NOT recover), start feeding at reduced rate, as I mentioned above. Increase feeding amount slowly but be careful, Ocean Forest is rich stuff.

It is sometimes difficult to read your posts. Try using some punctuation and spacing if you could.

thanks everybody especially carbbyback, with lowering ph, everytime i add negative my ph shoot's all the way down to 4ph. yeah i do needa keep it simple tho.

Add pH down 1 drop at a time. Then let it sit for awhile before you test again. Practice makes perfect.

1 ml usually drops a gal 1 whole point for me from 7.0 to 6.0 you might vary so just use a lil

Ok, so you think you fed approx. 3 Tablespoons/gal. as opposed to 3 teaspoons/gal? One tablespoon = 3 teaspoons. Therefore, you overfed at 3? times (my math sucks) the stated rate.

You have learned your first lesson in growing MJ, and most plants in general. More does not always = better. ;) But, hopefully you have flushed and solved your problem and your plants will start to reward you for your efforts. :jointsmile:

Growing MJ, indoors, I've found is somewhat like raising a kid. First you have an infant, then a toddler, then a teenager, then hopefully, a decent adult (if you are lucky). You can't feed an infant a steak and expect a good outcome. Babies need only milk, plants need only water in the beginning.

Plants can "sunburn" like we do, if put into strong sun, without being acclimated or protected. When you make changes to a plant's light, do it in stages. This goes for indoor lights and sunlight as well. Any major change in environment needs to be done slowly, or you are going to have a "fussy baby" on your hands. :angelsmiley:

Once a plant has been transplanted once and gains some root mass and size, they are toddlers/small children. You feed a vegetative formula of nutrients for good, all-around growth and nutrition.:hippy:

At the point you put them into flowering, they start to become teenagers. You can't seems to fill them up, they are really packing away the water and the blooming nutrients and growing like mad. They become horrible and unruly, they won't stay in the space you've given to them. They are no longer delicate, they can take some rough handling. :rhinoceros: And, if you don't watch them, they have sex and reproduce/seed all over the place. :wtf:

We all wish to raise one to adulthood, to reap the rewards, don't we? If you stay with this challenge for the long haul, you will be realize more than great bud.

ouch! yeah i guess i fed them 3x over. the plant hurt the most is begining to have burnt upper leaves and newer leaves are takeing time to gain size and form..

how long before a turn-around? meaning new growth?

Depends on how bad they are burnt. Are they worse? Do you see any new growth at all? Is all the newest growth burnt?

You might want to flush again the next time they need water, yeah? A picture sure would help...;)

Can you get more cuts if the worst happens?

yeah getting worse. i am not seeing any new growth at all... i sat on my camera and broke the screen lol, more cuts should be available.

If your original plants are severely stunted, they may never recover enough to grow strong and bloom well.

In the time it takes for your plants to recover (guess maybe 2 weeks), you could have new cuts coming along with younger plants that had not been burned or had a set back.

Which should you do? Only you can decide. :jointsmile:

You certainly are very knowlegeable about botany, I would greatly appreciate it if you could look at my post about my grow right above this one (Hawaii grow) and possibly give me some feedback. I don't really want to listen to just anyone on here, just the knowlegeable few. I will post the same questionare that was before this post.
