Leaf burn and discoloration!
The problem:
So I am having some issues with a couple plants. I am seeing discoloration spots on some of the plants...Some lighter and some darker. I posted pictures for you to see.
Also, one of the plants is showing signs of nute burn? The funny thing is that I am not using nutes right now. Maybe it is light burn from my T5 light?
Are these signs of lack or calcium and magnesium?
picture #1 and #2 are showing a plant that is discoloring...I have one other plants that is showing lighter coloring. I did not post a picture of this.
picture #3 is showing a plant that has leaf tips that are dead...and it is also showing discoloration.
The rest of the plants are not showing signs of anything...look very healthy and are growing nicely since I lowered my lights to stop the leggy issue I was facing with Citral ( i have been this is common for this strain in seedlings)
My System:
Growing drip system hydro
no nutes...still seedlings
5 gallon res.
16 pants with 3 showing signs of these problems.
t5 light with 4 bulbs (hot and cold mixture)
lighting schedule on 18/6

What is the source of your water? And its pH?
Good start on info for troubleshooting. There is a troubleshooting form shown as a sticky at the top of this forum. Copy and paste that form to this thread with answers. You will get more, and most likely better, responses by posting that info.
Good luck.
Leaf burn and discoloration!
distilled water from the store. PH of water currently is about 5.5...

Do you have a problem with your tap water? No need to use distilled water for seedling (or any MJ) unless your tap water has issues (very hard or salty). Your seedlings will do quite well with the little bit of minerals most tap water contains.
In addition to lacking some essential trace minerals, I also recall reading that some distilled water can be heavy on the salts, but don't take that as gospel. My memory's not what it used to be :stoned:.

I know nothing about rockwool hydro. You're gonna need someone else.
Trust me... fill out the form.
Leaf burn and discoloration!
Water in my area is super hard and calcifies very easily. I wouldn't grow with it...even if you paid me to. Let alone smoke all the run off and chemicals in our water supply.
I personally will only drink filtered water, or from reverse ozmosis.
If you go to my grow log...I answer all of the questions from the form entirely. Not to mention, I believe I answered all of the basic troubleshooting questions. The form is retarded...especially since I posted pictures.

K) What is the ec/ppm of your nutrient solution? no idea
L) What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? (reservoir high and low temps) temp at 74 degrees
M) Does your ec/ppm show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check? do not have a ppm checker.
N) Does the ph fluctuate? no...stable 5.8
O) Do you foliar feed? no

The form helps answer basic questions that the forum troubleshooters need to know to help you diagnose and solve your problem. Unfortunately, pictures don't always tell the entire story.

In initial post you said no nutes as they are babies. But you list nutes used and feed schedule in your form. Please clarify.
I can't help you anymore. As I said, I've no experience with rockwool hydro. Good luck to you.
Leaf burn and discoloration!
Have you used this t5 set-up with these same bulbs in the past? Looks a bit like insufficient lighting and slight heat stress.
Has your flood schedule worked ok in the past? (not overwatering?)

RO is filtered water.

first off, it's not peoples job (nor do they have the time) to go from grow log to grow log to read specifics. nor do your plants have the time, for that matter. especially in hydro....but i bet you already knew this.
why exactly is the form retarted? please elaborate? what could be done to make the form better?
the form is in place so the people HELPING save your plants can give you the best, accurate information, as quickly as possible.
it also might not be so hard to fill out if you READ the questions and answered the question asked.

this is asking for bulb type and wattage, yet you posted what kind and well, that's about it, i guess you were trying to elude to your kelvin ratings, which the next question asks for.

here is where your kelvin rating goes. yes it asks for wattage again. like i said, it's a work in progress.

this is a close ended question. that's either yes or no. no room for elaboration here.

not redundant, it's an open ended, follow up question. what size exhaust fan are you working with? (CFM) what size is your grow area?
just because you have an exhaust and two circulation fans doesn't mean that you have good circulation. you could be just swirling hot air around inside your area.
also keep in mind that the new form is a work in progress!
as far as the pics go, you can't just plop a pic in front of someone and say "diagnose my problem". it doens't quite work that way. i mean if it did, you'd have fixed your own problem without having to post.
once agian, any feedback to the form will be greatly appreciated. and "it's retarded" is not feedback.
thanks.

Leaf burn and discoloration!
what size t5s 4 4ft t5s is only 200w
circulated air is not fresh air as the question is not redundant
how do you mesure ph cause i believe distilled water is nuetral, what brand
if you want help man u gotta keep it real.
Leaf burn and discoloration!
hello martyrprojket,
First thing that strikes me is PH, for rockwool the target to hit is usually 5.5. I personally find 5.2 to 5.5 works best with my nutes and RW setup. (BTW in the form you say 5.8, but earlier said 5.5, which is it?) Find out what the manufacturer of your nutrients recommends and start there.
Second if using distilled (or RO) water in hydro, you need to add a little cal/mag, this allows the nutrients to be available to the plant.
Third was just touched on, amount of light seems limited. In the form you say "abt 350w" but a T5 in 4' (you don't mention size) would be 28w/ea NO (normal output) or 54w/ea if HO (high output) and 85w/ea if overdriven to VHO (very high output). So 4 t5s would be 112w, 216w, or 340w. Are you using an electronic ballast to overdrive? If you are then keeping the lights 2-3" is way too close, you need 5-6".
Fourth thing is whether you are feeding or not. But when you do you need to go easier then recommended by your nutrient mfg. Without the benefit of a PPM or TDC meter you'll be running blind, so keep in mind "less is more".
We all know filling out the troubleshooting form seems like a bit of work and a pain, but it puts as much info available, together in one place. Makes it easier on us to try to help you, rather then the other way around.
Good luck, let us know how things work out.
Leaf burn and discoloration!
Just took a second look at your pictures and it just dawned on me....if those are 4" delta blocks, and they are 4 rows of 4, you have an area of about 2'x2'. Maybe the form should ask, "what size is the actual grow area?" rather then size of grow room.
It wouldn't hurt to mention size of T5s as in 2' or 4', wattage and degrees Kelvin.
