The quote is not mine but of Jesus from A Course in Miracles. The quote is saying that the truth of who we are cannot be changed and that we are perfect as we were created but that we are dreaming of being in exile from the perfect safety of Heaven and the Love of God. The quote is meant to assure us that Jesus walks with us through this nightmare and will help us, if willing, to awaken from the dream of death. Peace, MH:)Quote:

If you accept that Jesus did not die, consider all things are possible in God. ACIM, including the quote starting this thread is very consistent with most of what Jesus said in the Bible. You have to remember that the actual Bible was formulated hundreds of years after his death and by imperfect men who often politicized the content and left out a lot of material. The premise of ACIM is that the content was scribed by Helen Shuchman from and inner voice that claimed to be Jesus of Nazareth. Believe me, I had a hard time swallowing that until I actually read the book cover to cover. It is fascinating and beautiful and explains a lot about questions I had always had about seeming contradictions in the Bible. Now, if you can believe that Revelations was scribed 2000 years ago, why not today. Presumably, we all have access to this inner voice but it takes a reversal (a mental discipline if you will) of our current ways of thinking and desiring to become aware of it, which would be the great awakening from the dream of death. We are what we were and what we shall be. Theres nothing you can teach or learn because we're a dream all different dreams. Think about teaching within a dream about your current dream to another's dream, both of them make no sence while awake so how could they gain anything truthful from one another?
ACIM along with every other true spiritual study is the art of becomming selfless. you're not really in a body you dont taste or smell or touch, thinking you do is the same as thinking your dreams are real, the meaning of these words isnt even real. How could anything exist if there is only God?
Ok, there are a few problems with this quote that point out to me that it's false, because it does not fall in line with what we know about God from the Bible and from Christ's own words. True, humans are born with an innate knowledge of God, a God-shaped hole, so to speak. We were made like this on purpose, because God desires communion, fellowship, and our worship. The whole "what you are forever" part is misleading, because our condition changes and is not static. At some point in the future those who have accepted the Lord will go to be with him and those who haven't, will be sent away from God according to their own wishes. So what you are is not constant. You either become complete through the renewal of our bodies and reunion with the Lord, or you become forever separated according to your own choice.Quote:

But it is totally false that God NEEDS man. To insinuate that means that God is imperfect. God in His own nature is totally fulfilled and was before time began. The whole concept of "this is just a big dream" can't hold true if you have common sense. It's like the Christian Scientists cult saying that disease and death are just conditions of the mind, and if you defeat the thought, then you defeat the malady. That's just silly. In order for anyone to have any kind of discourse on existence, you have to come to the table with the basic assumption that you can trust your senses. True, your senses can be deceived, but that's why you have five of them. The sensations you perceive form a consensus of the senses, which you interpret and react to.
Paul in his Epistles to the early church says "test the spirits." Meaning just what my first post showed, that the quote from ACIM is inconsistent with what Jesus is known to have said as recorded by the apostles. Satan can appear in the form of an angel of light, so just because you hear some voice in your head that seems good, you can't just trust it off hand.

I respectfully disagree. Well...while it is true that God is perfect, so are you because God cannot create a mistake, or that would make God imperfect. God does indeed have need of us...being his beloved. Man did not betray God but man is scared to death of the love of God. Man is running from God in every moment and the body is his mechanism to run, and death has become his god. This is why our ego seeks idols of pleasure to compensate for the false belief that we have betrayed God. Had we betrayed God and had He no need of us...why did Jesus come? To save the saved??? Those who believe that there are righteous and unrighteous people in this world believe God could leave a part of Himself behind and does not love a part of Himself. God has left noone behind. You seem perfectly willing to accept miraculous communications with God 2000 years ago and to believe literally the interpretations of God's messages by fallible but sincere men (which can be inconsistent even within the Bible), yet for you to consider that Christ communicates with us even today, to clarify inconsistencies...this you will not do. Why? You clearly believe in a Satan which is the great deceiver. So any attempt to clarify anything is feared as deception and imbued with distrust. God is the alpha and omega. God is everything in totality. Good and evil are concepts created by man, just as space and time are created by man. Forgiveness is not understood by man very well. We think God could possibly forgive us if we become circumscribed to a certain kind of behavior and belief system. True Forgiveness is unconditional. Those who take the Bible literally rather than symbolically...get ready to be stoned, and not the good kind of stoned. All who have not followed Jewish laws according to the literal interpretation, which is most of us I presume, should be stoned to death for one damn thing or another.
Of course its a symbolic text, taught to the people of the day, using language of the day. Then interpreted and reinterpreted not by God but by men who picked and chose what to put in it and what to leave out. Of course they left out all that contradicts what they believe.
