Bud genetics and hybridization

there's got to be a way of cross-breeding the marijuana plant with something that looks completely innocent and innocuous. That way, you can grow right in your front yard and the 5-0 would be none the wiser.

Consider for a moment a pine tree crossed with a pot plant. A THC yielding pine tree! Instead of pine pitch, pure TCH comes seeping out of a gash in the tree's trunk! And the best part is, it's an evergreen! It'll last year-round!

Should be simple enough; make a slice in the seed, take a pine seed, do the same thing and tape them together for a little while while soaking them in a bath of auxin or something.

hasn't been accomplished yet, to any useful degree of success ... pot has been crossed with hops (a very close relative), however, it has NO psychoactive effects, etc ... go do it, and tell us all how :D

Oh geez, I never thought that it would be so easy to make a new species, if all you have to do is cut 2 seeds in half and stick them together. I never thought of that, do you use normal super gluez to stick the seeds together?

EDIT: "Evergreen" isn't the term for a plant to live year round, its the term for the type of trees that have green foliage year round. I think you were looking for the word "perennial" which is plants that live longer than a year, not dying during the winter months.

OK sorry bud, we are having too much fun at your expense.

Two different types of plants don't just graft to eachother. They have to be in the same family at least, and even then grafting is not usually successful unless they are the same species. The "fruit salad" trees don't generally do too well, with one or more of the grafts failing within a year.

That being said, you may be able to get the gene responsible for THC into a virus or bacteria, and get that into another plant somehow. But if a laboratory is going to do that, they either have some kind of permit to carry out research on cannabis, or they don't mind operating illegally, either way, they have no reason to find an alternative method to produce THC.

That sh** will never happen. Come on pine trees and cannabis?! That's like sexing a chihuahua and a doberman together....

I think tomorrow I'm going to go outside and split a cannabis seed and a pecan seed, glue them together, plant them and make edible THC pecans that ooze green goo of thc that burst in your mouth like gushers :D:wtf::D:wtf:

actually you can make a graft chimeara from totally different species. i'm not saying that it is always successful, but it can be done.

how do you think they make hybrid orchids? They just split the stamen and tape them together. It's really that simple. Sure, it might be more complicated with a seed but I don't see any need to dump on me for it.

And yes, you can make a graft between two species. There is a fruit tree called "fruit salad" but the grafts are not vigorous enough to be very worthwhile. It's only a novelty really. I think it has peaches, red plums, nectarines, purple plums, and apricots. But everything I have read says that the grafts fail most of the time, and even if they survive they do not produce well.

You were talking "evergreen" trees and cannabis....
They make hybrid orchids out of different species of orchids (generas/genus) not out of two completely different species of plant all together. Plus it is said that insects pollinate the orchids also to make hybrids occasionally. Below is a link for ya to check out. :D :jointsmile::thumbsup:
