My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Hey heres pics of my most recent stealth grow...
Im looking for your opinion too please. as you can see by the pics, one of the babies is sufferring from brown patches, getting considerably worse on the leaves...currently using no added nutes. Any ideas? is the plant in trouble?
The one on the left is currently day 18....and the effected one, day 21

My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
it's hard to say, everything looks good in your setup. what kind of soil are you using?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Its a Royal mix soil...specially for cannabis growing. The royal mix means i basicaly dont have to use nutes for like 7 weeks, and seeing as theyr autoflowering, i reckon i might not have to use any nutes(or i am hoping), what u think? They are both in that soil, and the PHs are the same and perfect. The other one is doing brilliant, the effected one has been wierd since sprouting to be honest, very purpley undertones in places, curling leaf edges in places too.
Could the browning be a big problem? Or do u think its manageble?
Using a gutted out PC drive...3 fans- 1 input, 2 exhaust. 4 CFL 115watt 2700k(seeing as there is VERY if no vegatative state with the lowryder). Basically kitted it for the flowering.
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
that is very weird. you'd think if it was the nutes in the soil it would have burned them when they were little. what's your watering cycle like? are you letting them dry good in between waterings? over watering is a common mistake. how's the drainage on your pots?

I was kinda thinking this too... possibly damage from over watering in a previous week or something
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Thats the thing...i let them completely dry before watering. Im definitely not over-watering them....theres holes in the pots and its mixed with perlite for drainage.
This is really boggling me! The other plant is doing superb and this one, since starting growth has been slightly wierd with these marks and stuff. Maybe its just like an ugly duckling plant? ha. The plant itself doesnt stink, but the other younger one smell fresh and pungent! Theyr the same strains...its leaves look nice but feel very dry to the touch compared with the other.
Should i maybe start to mist them just before dark period?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
wow, total mind blow. maybe it is a bad seed. one last thought here, I see you've lined your box with mylar or foil, maybe a hot spot? have you tried swithing them?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Its lined with that car window reflector stuff. Ya iv swithched them on numerous times!! Its not from the lights either as iv raised and dropped with no difference. haha its a boggler.
Probably a bad seed no doubt, maybe its handicapped!
None the less il grow it out, never know, might produce some "retardedly" big buds:stoned:
Will keep ye updated on this daily with pics right through the grow anyways!
Thanks for all your help, appreciate it!

are you sure you didnt let water sit on those leaves? after reading through that's the only thing I could come up with...
looks good though I'll be following through this one! my first grow was in a pc :D
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
No water was definitely not sitting on the leaves unfortunately. At least it would explain. It's now starting to cover other newer leaves! :-(

So from the looks of it, it looks like a nutrient burn form the soil. i had the same problem not to long ago on a W.R. i had. The soil had to much nutrients in it so your best bet is try to flush out as much of the nutrients from the soil asap. but other then that your LR2 look good. but try to flush your soil out.
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Hey, im using the Plagron royalty mix soil. It says its all time release so nutrients isnt used till the plant needs it. the other girl is in the same soil and flourishing. im really begining to think its a bad seed if thats possible. had quirky little things about it since sprouting.
If it gets considerably worse then il flush it. Thanks a mill! ;)
Quick pic updates... First you can see the troubled girl, and the last 2 are the healthy one...

My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
not bad, ave you seen my growlog?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Yes just had a look there. Unfortunately i dont have as much space as you so they'l be staying pretty small. At what day did yours start to flower?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Hey just a quick update on my grow....
on the right....28days....this has been the problematic one. leaves were goin a-wall as seen above so they have been pruned off to help light get at the under leaves sprouting. Hopefully she'l be flowering soon.
On the left its day 24..... here ya go.
How you think theyr doing?

and what exactly is that pH?
what are your temps like? humidity?
and if you are using an active intake it should be rated at the same CFM as the exhaust fan. you possibly might have stale air that sits in your case and is not getting exchanged as much as needed. at the minimum the air in your case should be exchanged completely every 5 minutes.
if flushing is not working and making it worse then the soil is probably too hot, or you are over watering.
what are the NPK values for your soil?
you are aware that the average size for a lowryder #2 is ~17-19 inches, and probably a bit bigger?

My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Doesnt the pot and overall space determine the size in the end...as in it can be manipulated!?
PH is just under 7....and soil temp is around 26c, give or take!
The air is always being pushed in and sucked out....rotated! relatively low humidity! all this can vary on current outdoor weather due to house heating and windows etc.

My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Hey guys, Just to give you an update on my PC Grow. Im not too sure if its going good or bad or just OK?
The taller is at day 37, still not into flowering even tho its auto flower, and the other is at day 33 also not flowering, and no pistils that i can see?
Also as you can see from pics the lower leaves are gettin takin by the colour yellow and brown in spot form. Iv decided i need to add something but not sure what? Any ideas?
The temp, air circulation, watering and PH is all stable. Using plagron royalty mix as recomended, and no nutes have been added? You think i need something?
i NEED HELP :-(

My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Look in the 'Nutrients' link in my sig. Place to symptom to the explanation. Try to work from there. Try lowes or homedepot or order some superthrive. I'm thinking its a 'micro nute' deficiency. I'm no guru, so don't take anything I say for granted. =D

Thanks for that man.
The playgron royalty mix site says this to describe it...
"This special potting soil was developed in Holland and is, in our opinion, the best soil for organic cultivation. It consists of White peat, Baltic peat, Irish peat, sphagnum peat moss and Black peat comprising 60% of the total volume. The remainder consists of 20% worm compost, 15% perlite and 5% bio super mix which is a concentrated selection of biological fertilisers containing minerals, bacteria, vitamins, blood-meal, bone-dust, basalt-dust, bentonite, seaweed meal, guano and lava-dust. The complete mix is a ready to use, completely biologically mixed potting compost with a pH between 5.9-6.2 and an EC of 1.3.
The compost will only need water for the first 5-6 weeks of cultivation because of the amount of nutrient already present in the compost.
Plagron Royalty-mix contains a carefully selected combination of organic fertilizers which meet all the plantā??s nutritional requirements throughout the complete cycle. These Plagron fertilizers are unique because they are only released exactly when the plant needs them.
Plagron Royalty-mix is Plagronā??s premium product. Attention! Water well, allowing the water to seep through, before use. Do not add any fertilizer for the first 6 weeks."
Does this mean i have to add nutes or water after 5-6 weeks? this leaf yellowing prob has started pretty soon since sprouting!

When did this problem start occurring ? I'm using the same stuff.

I noticed it creeping on after maybe 2-3 weeks of growth. I just really wanna sort this. I don't want it to affect the budding!
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
didn't see your post about your ph being just under 7. thats still a little high but probably not the problem. as be suggested its probably lacking a micronute of some sort.
So you haven't started flowering yet?

My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Hey problem of withering leaves seems to be solved. wasnt reading my pH correctly. Got a digital reader, purchased a bottle of "PH Down" and i brought my waters PH from 7 to 6.4...and overnight...BOOM!! Iv also switched it to 12/12 and its growth has exploded, but with one problem fixed another occurs....im worried they will be too big for the PC Box. Theyr ALMOST touching the CFLs which are cool by the way. Should i be worried or will it be ok?
Is tying them down in anyway possible?
Heres some pics...

Right back with somegood news. iv moved my babys outta the pc grow box as they were gettin seriously cramped and have moved them into theyr brand new Homebox tent. Have also upgraded their lighting With a 110w PPL tubes 6400k output! Really excellent light off it. far better than spiral CFLs. I have also put in my normal 2700k spirals.
This post is basically a lighting question. Theyv been put onto 12/12 for the last 3 days and now that i have the addition on the 6400k im just wondering on where i should place my plants? I here having both spectrums is good for flowering.
This is how i have them, will they be fine like that or will i have to keep adjusting them?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Sticky ~ The positioning of your plants looks fine. The bulk of the lumens from a household type CFL comes mostly from the side. When I was running similar CFL's, I rotated the plants 1/4 clockwise turn on each watering/feeding day. They seemed to like that.
Lots of folks, way smarter than me, recommend mixing the spectrums for both vegging and flowering when using CFL's. You just want to have more bulbs in the blue range for vegging and more bulbs in the red end of the spectrum for flowering.
Good news on your PH. I started out using the drops/test tube type, then went to the paper strips, with different results, and finally broke down and got a digital. No contest, the digital wins and the plants definitely show the difference.
I'm anxious to see how your Lowriders turn out. I've thought that was a strain I might like to try.

you can get a digital pH pen on ebay for ~$20-25. try to get a milwaukee as opoosed to hanna if you can. i've heard bad things about hannas.

Directly after posting the pics i got finiky and nailed the row of 2700ks inbetween the 2 PLL fluros on the reflector so now it looks pretty nice and evenly distributed....
4 spiral 2700ks hanging down from center, in between the 2 6400k tubes.
Im gonna leave that set up for veg and into flowering. should be fine. all it has to do is choose which light it wants on any given day lol!!
Yup the PH was a big problem for me too at the start. Hopefully with all the extra light it will start to flourish. This is only a petty grow compared to next. Now that i have all the space im gonna go for 2 Hasberries in some big as pots :rastasmoke:

Hey everyone, havent updated in a long time....well the babies have flourished into flowering beauties, and now comes my next question. WHEN to harvest?
im looking for a nice relaxing stone so im wondering how long i should leave them. HOW do i tell when to chop? I dont have a microscope on any kind so kinda have to just judge by colouring. Here are some pics i took yesterday...
Oh im also wondering should i chop the whole thing at once or should i just pic the ones higher up first....?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Probably need just a little more time if your looking for relaxing high. At least a few more days if not more.
Nice plant too BTW, if you reallly want to increase yeild let it go 7-10 more days.
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
10 days???
has it swelled yet do u reckon? isnt there ment to be swelled pods?
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
Be careful with peat-based soils. The Jiffy #7 peat cubes that I used for germination can easily become sopping wet and fully saturated beyond what you want for the plants. I lost a lot of sends due to rot, since it doesn't dry out too well. From where I'm sitting, it appears to be a combination of too much water in the soil and some nutrient burning. Just wait until the top inch of soil is bone-dry to water. Double check your stems too and look for purple veining, which is an indication of nutrient lock-out.

Get a jeweler's loupe with 10x & 20x magnification, so you can see the trichomes clearly. I won't go into the different highs based on when you harvest, you can find that elsewhere, but they should be totally mature when 2/3 to 3/4 of the trichomes are milky white and some are turning amber. Also once about 75% of the hairs have turned from white to orange (depending on your variety) is also a good indication of maturity.
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
that plant is far from maturation! don't harvest it in 10 days you will be disappointed. I use to check the trichs but lately Ive just gotten a feel for it. Here's the trick, the hairs will start to suck back in and when they do start to suck back in you're ready to harvest within 10 days
you're only about what.. 35 days in? i'd say AT LEAST 55-60 days...your girl looks sativa-leaning. online source says 9 weeks from seed. where does that put you?
oh and your camera works fine for checking the trichs you can see them pretty well. wish my camera macro'd like that :rasta:
-
My Pc Grow Journal! Lowryder 2
back again with a quick update of the girl...
as u can see from my last post im looking to harvest for a relaxing high, nothing too cerebral. Im having trouble with when i should harvest her. Iv been advised to go and get a magnifying glass to check the trichomes, but as of now that isnt possible so all i have is my macro camera lol.
Here are the pics from today?
Any ideas?
Thanks again for all your help peeps :rastasmoke:
