First Grow, Bubblelicious.
Hello All.
First time grower here, I figured I'd keep a journal for future reference and for you all to chime in with help I'm sure I'll need plenty of it.
I just used some jiffy pots to start my plants under a few shop light florescent cool tubes to start off, They germinated on 4/22 and I transplanted them to 6" pots and set them under a 400 Watt Pulsar Mini MH/HPS 5/1. Been watering them every 2 days until water comes out the bottom of the pot. My cabinet measures 5' x 2 'x 3' I have a 50 CFM exhaust fan above the light with one oscillating fan blowing heat toward the exhaust and one agitating the plants.
I have six Nirvana Bubblelicious, and one bagseed. I'm using a soil mix 2 parts Earthgro Organic Humus and Manure .05-.05.-05 1 part Promix ultra organic sea based compost with AVEC, and 1 part Perlite. They are currently about 11" away from the light, these pics where before I watered and put the first nutrients on them today. They received a quarter strength dose of MiracleGro 8-7-6. Temps have been hovering right around 80 degress. I'm working on getting a better fan and I have to come up with a smell solution still. I've got my eye on a Air Tiger, but I may have to go DIY. First question is if I go SoG should I start tying them down now or let them get more height? I plan to transplant in to 8" pots as soon as the roots fill out the ones they are in. Thanks for any help you all can give.
Enjoy the pics

Just soo long as you start before they branches get to "tough" then you will be ok, but looking at the size of them I would start them now. But that's just me! :D Starting to look good though! Keep it up!!!

Here's some pictures one month into the grow. I have them all transplanted into 8'' pots and topped, and today I tied them down. I'll post pics of that soon. I've went to a higher N fertilizer, but still giving them pretty low doses though. You can some some damage on some of the leaves, I believe this is from some heat issues I was having. I've put a bigger fan into the box and raised the light about 4''. It was getting in the 80's midday, so hopefully I've taken the right steps. The PH seems fine it's a little on the low side but I figure it will go up as time goes by. If you have any suggestions don't hesitate to critique.
P.S. How do I post the pictures where the thumbnails will expand?

What kind of soil are you using? sorry if i missed that in the orignal post but... if you are using a soil with Peat in it like most potting mixes do, your PH is actually likely to go down, not up. As the peat breaks down it becomes quite acidic, if your not far out of range though, probably nothing to worry about yet though.

Ok, thanks for the input sydee00 I'll have to get more involved and get my post count up :) As for the soil as I said in the original post, I'm using a soil mix 2 parts Earthgro Organic Humus and Manure .05-.05.-05 1 part Promix ultra organic sea based compost with AVEC, and 1 part Perlite. If anyone can tell if the damage looks to be heat or just the soil being to acidic let me know! :)

Update -
4.5 weeks in and the girls are looking much better since I got the heat issue resolved. I plan to start flowering in about 2 weeks. I want to let the roots fill out these pots so I can put them in 12" pots before I start the lights on 12/12. I have tied down 5 of the plants and I topped the other 2. I'm thinking about buying some PVC and chicken wire and try SOG. I want to keep a good even canopy, but one of the things that worry me is after I transplant and start training them through the wholes I'm sure I'll have some males in the mix. Is it a hassle to cut the males out and still keep a even canopy? Here are the pictures.

I transplanted to 12" pots on 6/29 and the plants went to 12/12 on June 2nd, I gave them a healthy dose of Fox Farms Tiger Bloom yesterday and took picks today. I have 4 confirmed girls as I can see the hairs growing out. I have 2 that are very questionable. The bagseed turned out to be a male and I've scraped it. The two I'm unsure about are the healthest, and most robust of the 6, and I just need a second opinion before I take the knife to them. So take a look and tell me what you think. I hope the pics are clear enough for you all to see. Here they are.

Ah man Bubblelicious is FTW man. Love this stuff. Discovered it at a trance party, and I've spent the rest of my life since then tracking more of it down.
Ordered my own seeds to grow and they turned out pretty good, but I didn't get as big a yield as I'd have liked.
We put a full review of bubblelicious here... check it.
Peace:rastasmoke:

Great Review Cannaguy420, this will be my first experience with it, but wow I can't wait to get some of those visuals! :stoned: Just got finished watering the plants, I ended up with 4 girls and they are going through the stretch right now. They are getting so bushy it's hard to fit them in the box. I will post new pics next week. And thanks for stopping by and giving your input.

Well, my girls are coming along nicely I think. I hope they are done with the stretch for the most part because I'm running out of space for my light. I've been using 1 tsp of Fox Farms Tiger Bloom per gallon every 3 days. They receive 32oz of water each on this same schedule. Everything seems to be running smoothly up to this point, and the buds are getting bigger every day. Looking back though I wish I would've took the time to pre-plan for a SOG grow as I may run into space problems later. Well can always do better next time.

Some of my plants leaves have started to show some sort of spots. I'm thinking maybe it's a nutrient problem. I will fill the troubleshooter out in a bit. Here's a pic to show what it's looking like. In case anyone can diagnose off-hand.

Do you ever flush in between waterings? If not, that may be your problem. You don't want to give nutes every time you go to water. You only want to give them nutes every other watering. If you do it every time you will build up the salts in the soil which can lead to lockout as well as a nute problem. Try giving them a nice flush the next watering with just Ph corrected water and see if that helps any. Remember you won't be able to change the look of the already damaged leaves, but it should subside and the new growth should look fine.

looks like spider mite damage to me? check the bottom of the leaves very carefully with a magnifying glass. if its mites you need to act quick. let us know
First Grow, Bubblelicious.
It's Mites, I can see them. I put up a bug strip, maybe that will catch some, but the plants are infested with them. I'm going to the store this morning to pick up this:
1/4 cup Baking Soda
1/2 cup Apple Cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
2 drops dish detergent
1/4 Teaspoon Epsom Salts
Take a cup of very hot water and dissolve the epsom salts, take rest of ingredients and place in a clean 2 liter bottle and let work out. Add epsom solution. Add water to fill to 48ozs(3/4 full).Shake well.
TO USE: Cover soil/medium with plastic, with lights off mist plant all over, especialy under leaves,
Wait 20 mins, then spritz off with clean fresh water shaking as much water off plant as you can.
The fresh water spritz rinse will remove the solution along with the desolved remains of the mites and their eggs.
I'll try this when I get home from work.
I should have bought some Neem, I'm gonna pay for it now. I'm afriad to bomb the place because I'm already a month into flower. Hopefullly the method above works enough to save them and salvage some sort of crop.
First Grow, Bubblelicious.
Well, I tried the spray but it really didn't kill them, there are just so many under all the leaves that I feel that spray is going to be fruitless at this point. So I was forced to take drastic measures. I went to day and bought a NO BUG strip and put it on top of the light right before the night cycle. I plan to leave it there for 12hrs and then take it out tomorrow while the fans run. Then I'll leave it in another 12hrs tomorrow during night cycle. I think that's about as much risk as I'm willing to take with the toxins. I'll wash them with a spray afterward and try to get the dead mites, eggs and left over toxin residue off. I'm sure new eggs will hatch but maybe this will provide enough relief that the problem will be under control until harvest, and maybe get them down to a scale where natural spray will actually work. I'll have at least 4 weeks to let the toxins dissipate before smoking.
Up until recently until I got my vaporizer I smoked cigs and my wife made a good point saying "you've probably been smoking that stuff all along in cigs cause I'm sure the tobacco companies use pesticides." You know I suppose two wrongs don't make a right but she's probably correct in that assumption. What a wake up call for pest deterrent, I won't be making this mistake again.
First Grow, Bubblelicious.
I've finally got the mites under control, although they were able to do a lot of damage I think things are going to be OK. I won't get nearly the yield I was hoping for but lessons had to be learned and I'll be better for it in the long run.
Here's a few picks of the plants on day 45 of Flower.
First Grow, Bubblelicious.
very cool that you got it under control the first time out. next time you'll be right on it. I used Safer insecticidal soap for plants (organic and good for you too). I would not use the pest strips, myself. Read the warnings.
GL with your bubblegum grow, it's one of my favs. I have a male going now for breeding with a nice hybrid that is very similar to BG.
