First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
Hello there. New here, new to growing, nice to e-meet all of you.
Just lookin for input on my first grow.
Soil= ProMix
Nutes= foxfarm
water at 6.5 ph
600 watt hps
fun fun. The big ones are unidentified random seeds from a friend. Look like anything you may have seen?? They are 3.5 weeks old
The little ones are DP Blueberry at 2 weeks. Have some strange brown on one of the berries, cant see in bad light, but it is in the first leaves and not the new growth...so.... the closeup is of the damage. sorry cant see too well but what i've been able to find on the internet would suggest heat burn.. weird that its on the lower leaves tho. The blues are still on water.. may have spilled a lil nute water on them when watering big ones. neway.

Plants look great in those pics:thumbsup: Couldn't see the trouble spot. What's the temps and humidity in the grow space?
Welcome aboard and keep us updated

First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
Thanx for taking time for me. The blueberries are Dutch passion Blueberry and I got them from seedboutique. I keep the temp at 75 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity is at 36%. I have to use a bucket of water to keep it there or it will drop to around 24%. I read that around 50% is optimal but I cant get it that high, I have a humidifier but dunno if I should implement it. Thoughts?

one other weird thing. When i watered the babies with 6.5 ph h2o, i check the ph of the run off and it's down to 5.5...huh? did the same thing with the big ones on nutes. is promix bad?

First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
nevermind.. heh.. i found the post on what to do in this case.

First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
update.
flushed one plant with 7.2 ph water and the runoff was at 5.6
i'm stumped.
-
First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
Well. Decided not to worry about the run off water as it doesnt seem to be accurate.. no problems any plants. Just updating for anyone that is interested. This is my first grow. Big ones are unidentified..seems they are heavy indica. one on left is confirmed female (pre-sexed) other one seems to be as well.. will know in few days.. yay!!!! The smaller 10 are my Dutch Passion Blueberry. Little magnesium deficiency in a couple plants but it seems to have worked out.. only on water too.. wierd. Big ones were fed today. Fox Farm, big bloom and grow big. Anyway.. wanted to post pics and get some expert eyes on them.
:rastasmoke: Got a couple close-ups of the lady.. kinda hard to see, holding a magnifying glass and a cam whilst bent over... priceless.
p.s. Might have neglected to mention that I'm growing these for a patient so if anyone has or have had dp blueberry before, your input would be appreciated.

Dude the first close up pic looks like it's going to be a male. the other isn't showing any sign of sex yet. they look great you'll love the blueberry.

hi :) Thanks! the angle is bad on that pic. thought the same thing when i saw the pic but you can see the white hairs coming out with the naked eye.

Nice mate. Congrats on the ladies. I haven't grown Blureberry but I heard you can easily over feed it. My buddy grew some DJ Shot Blueberry and it was fantastic. great body high very relaxing. I'm gonna pick up some DP blueberry pretty soon. I'll be hanging around your grow log.
-
First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
Thanx alot. I will pay close attention to them with the nutes. starting that next feeding, I'm thinking of starting at 300 ppm of grow big and big bloom, will increase ppm as feedings progress. Hope these finicky eaters do ok. Probably not the best for a first grow but what I've heard about them, it's exactly whats needed.

Boy these plants seem wide awake in the morning... they stand up tall during the first hours of light. Is it normal for them to be like this in morning and towards the end of the day for them to get a little droopy?

First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
Hello everyone. So many nice grows and helpful information in these forums, I figured I would share what i'm learning about the DP Blueberry strain. They grow quick. These are not quite four weeks yet and getting kinda tall. I noticed some magnesium deficiencies as well as some calcium deficiencies in them at around three weeks and learned that this strain likes nutes early. At just over 3 weeks they all got a nice feeding of FF big Bloom and grow big at 500 ppm and they love it! In fact, I might be a little low on the ppm so next feeding I will likely double it as all of these plants are going 12/12 as of tonight. Taking clones today of the un id'd bag seed plants that are growing like crazy. Good day to you all :rastasmoke:

Very nice little group you have there. Are you planning on training them? They are very bushy and yummy looking. Keep up the great work!:)

Does any one know if this is regular, or is like he said a inaccurate reading? I have never put much thought into it, but I would think the ph would come out the same or close to what it goes in. I am curious and gonna ask around about this, I saw Franco from the green house talking about this too, Is it like reading the exhaust of a car, or like reading a stool sample? Does it contain the same type of information? Such as if your plants are taking in nutrients efficiently

Thank you :) I'm just learning about training them.. still unsure of what to do but. I just took 4 clones off of the female..other one still unknown. I also did what seems to be called fimming (sic?) on them in hopes of increasing the yield. I followed instructions from a post on these forums :) I will be trimming the leaves once they go into 12/12 and putting some cfl's on the sides. I do alot of "tucking" of the bigger leaves under the new ones so they get light. What other training should i be doing?? Thank you in advance :rastasmoke:

how are you testing the PH of the run-off? you really need a meter to test run-off accuratly... if you are using regular liquid indicator the test will be inccurate because your run-off water won;t be clear and will skew the results. It'll be tinted from the soil, nutes, etc.
assuming your test was accurate... puttnig in ph 7.2 water and getting 5.6 run-off would mean that your actual soil PH would probably be a high 4.x number which would be very acidic and would kill your plant for sure, so I think its safe to say that something is up with your test results

Thank you all for your input and words of encouragement. As you said Side, the test cant be accurate, the plants are doing too well.

So the run off should be at a ph of or close to what you put in. is What you are sayin? Correct? and if it is not then when measured with a digital ph tester it is time to flush I asume. I dont grow but will be asking those that I do know what their measurements are in the runoff or waste.
I would think their would be a small differance in the feed water and the waste water

mad, the runoff pH reading will kinda give you an idea of what's going on in your pot. i can't even pretend to begin to tell you how. that's for the someone like rusty.
maybe he'll stop in. or start a new post calling for his help. he is a soil guru.
the plants are looking fine perp! be careful trying to diagnose deficiencies. this can really get you in a bind. with a pH of 6.5 you shouldn't have a magnesium or calcium deficiency. (unless maybe you have a salt build up or something).
maybe if your pH is really 5.6 then you might start to have a problem.
a transplant and the fresh soil will help if you do have a pH issue with your (hopeful) ladies.
keep up the good work!

Thanx for all the help. One of the big plants seems to have a serious magnesium deficiency, i think i might have over fertilized her so i flushed her with some 6.5 water to get any salt buildup out of the soil. I fed her nutes 2 times in a row and have learned that fox farm has bad salt buildup and you are supposed to nute every other feeding. ugh.
Thoughts?

First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
i have just started the using the FF line up so i can't comment from personal experience. but i have read around here that people prefer to feed them 1/2 strength nutes twice a week (so still a full dosage) because they run a little "hot".
i've also been advised to flush them on about a once a month basis.
keep up the good work!

I have been giving them half strength like you said, is good advice. Still got this problem on the leaves though... still trying to figure out what it is. I flushed them with plain water to stop whats happening (hopefully). was going to put them into flower this week but looks like i cant till i straighten this issue out.

hey perp, i read on one of these logs, although i can't find it at the moment, that one of the different breeders blueberry strains is kinda a pain in the ass. i'll keep trying to find it to see if it was the DP version.
did you post in the plant problems section? and fill out the troubleshooting form (in my sig).
someone with more knowledge/experience than i will surely stop in and give the appropriate advice.

Promising read :) He didint have the problems i'm having with the nutes.. my thumb is brown i guess. He did an awesome job.
will update with pics , i think i have the problem under control. flushed with water.. i guess i over fed them nutes.
first pic is my lil cloning machine with the bag seed clones and some clones from a g13 cross i got from secondary :)
2nd pic is the g13 i will keep as a mom for now,
3 pic is one of my blueberries stem.. fan blows on them all day every day.
next pic is field of blueberries :)
i over ferted the bb's a lil.... curling leaf tips and very slight nute burn. makes no sense cause i'm using half strength nutes! damn these brown thumbs!!!

Hello all! Little update and a question. The plants seem to be all doing well and REALLY need to go into flower but I was told that i need to give them a feeding of FF grow big and open sesame a week before i put them into flower. Is this 100 pct true? The blues got nutes last feeding and the bag seed plants in the front row were flushed with water to correct an issue that has since cleared up. Can i start flowering and feed them in about 4 days with the recommended nutes?
thanx
p.s. Almost forgot to mention that the blues are 4 weeks and the bags are 5 weeks.
thanx again.

Hey e1...I have a slight dilemma in that when I put my WW in to flowering.I had previously set the timer to 8hrs on instead of 12..now 3 weeks into budding what should i do?...keep it there or move it up to 12?..sorry for posting here..being a newbie I couldnt find the new thread link...thanks KKID

Hi kkid! thanx for stopping by my grow log:) Even if it was just looking for help;)
you can find the "new thread" button on the top left of your screen just above the third dark green header from the top. Good luck!

I'd recommend cloning that mutant cabbage on the bottom right of those pictures if its female. Nice genetics!
-
First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
rofl! Thanx CFLHydro! I do believe it is a female and will be cloning her this weekend! I got a few fast runners out of these DP blueberries. Hope they are all girls..heh. Some of these leaves are almost 12 inches across! geez.

First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
Can an expert tell me if these are definite female preflowers? in this pic and the one above?
thanx in advance!
-
First grow "Blueberry"... mmmmm
yes that last picture is def. a ladie you got there!! Treat that lady with all your love and she shall return the flavor with nice juicy buds of blueberry goodness....
I just started a blueberry grow from PeakSeedsBC and they are starting to show it's first true leaves...I will be putting pics up tomorrow if you would like to check 'em out!

I have lots of experience with dp blueberry and any concerns you have with them I know them very well and would be happy to help.
