First grow. Please help, Sick Plant, leaves browning.

Please Help. I have 2 plants pure power and pure gold, I have been having problems with leaves browning and dying on the pure power. They were root bound last week in their 3 gallon pots and i transplanted a few days ago into 6 gallon pots. They perked right up and the gold looks great but the power is struggling, ill post a bunch of good pics in a few hours after my class.

Any advice would be awsome, thanks in advance.

One more of the pure pwers leaf problem and here is the pure gold which seems to be doing fine in the same conditions.

Starvation is not a valid growing technique. Even if all you give them is Grow Big...I'd feed those ladies per the Fox Farms Feeding Schedule. Fox Farms Feeding Schedule...
Just went 12/12...? Grow Big is not a bloom fert, so you'll have to make changes there. I'd go with the Tiger Bloom. (I use Fox Farms myself)

A little low on the ph, as ph in peat-based soils drift downwards. it's nothing major yet...but something to keep in mind.

what i was saying is that i fed them grow big once during veg, i am aware that it is a vegging fert and i have tiger bloom. im just afraid to use it because when i used one teaspoon to a gallon of the grow big a while back it burnt the tips of the leaves. I want to use the tiger bloom but i dont want to burn them again. How much should i use to a gallon?

they look like they are a) a little over-fed and b) a little under watered.

With fox farms and happy frog soils you shouldn't have to feed anything for 20 days. (I've heard 30, but my plants have said differently)

I'd water with cal-mag, then water a little more often. stick your index finger deep in the soil -- it should feel slightly damp when you water, not bone dry.

If you don't have cal-mag, sprinkle 1tsp of epsom salts (magnesium salt) on top of soild to leach into with each watering.

thanks a lot guys, i think next time i water ill use like half a teaspoon to a gallon of tiger bloom and ph it to 6.8 and then next time i water ill use a teaspoon of garden lime to a gallon. I limed them a while ago but it might have worn out by now.

yo rusty, do u follow the ff feeding schedule exactly and do u water w/ straight water in between or what? what amt. per gallon do u start with?

So i just got done giving them 5 cups each out of a gallon of half a teaspoon tiger bloom, and one teaspoon lime. Thanks for the advice guys ill let u know how it turns out, any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use the Fox Farms schedule, but I feed twice weekly, at half-strength dilutions. Same totals weekly, and the sativa's don't burn as much. If growing only sativa doms, I will flat-out cut back on the Tiger Bloom dilution. (3/4 strength, or so) If you use Big Bloom, half-strength is fine through to harvest. Adjustments may be necessary, depending on additives, soils, ammendments. Before I feed the ladies, I'll pour some plain, ph'd water in, (about a quart per 3 gallon pot) to start the absorption of moisture, and help keep my nutes from draining-off. (a waste) I wait a couple/few minutes, then add nute solution till slight runoff.

Keep in mind, too...Per Fox Farms...you have all the micro's you'll need in the Grow Big, and the Tiger Bloom. (Big Bloom is the catalyst) I do add humic acid after monthly flushes, (to relieve salt build-up FF is notorious for) and an occational shot of Sweet or molasses. (carbs-n-stuff)

Plain, ph'd water between feedings, if necessary. I never foliar in flower, unless it's to correct a defeciency or bugs.

Don't know if all this works best, but it works best for me. :thumbsup:

Also, if you're going to be using a pre-nuted soil, adjustments must be made to pull it off. The nutes in stuff like Miracle Grow lasts cannabis about three or four weeks in veg, and about two to three weeks in flower, before low-doses of nutes should be attempted.

yo rusty, what soil do u use? And since i havent been feeding much, how do u recommend i go about starting my feeding schedule for flowering?

I'd start 'em at half dose, and watch their reaction. Like I said, I give 'em half dose, twice a week. Less of a shock versus a full dose, once per week. Some folks fert full-dose, once a week and get good results. Boils down to fine-tuning the schedules and quantities, either way. :thumbsup:

just wanted to let u guys know, i also moved that 400w hps from where it was at about 7 inches to about 12. i noticed a little brown spot on the top leaf of the pure gold.

the first is the pure power, second, pure gold and the third is the top leaf on the gold. Im pretty sure its a light burn cause the rest of the plant looks great.

Best advice I can give you is to listen to what Rusty is saying. He's been a presence on these boards for a while and has a proven method that works. I use the same line of FF products and get outstanding results. I have also found that their feeding schedule is a little on the heavy side so adjust according to what your plants tell you.

I have also tried to be el'cheapo and get just grow big and tiger bloom figuring that they would work. And they did.....kinda. Disappointed is a PC way of describing how I felt. Didn't even figure the product with the lowest numbers would be the most important. One more lesson learned. The only really optional FF products are the additives, Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz, and ChaChing. I think they are a little on the synthetic side for me, but I'm in the middle of my first Beastie Bloomz experiment. I'll try to post a thread illustrating the difference in yield if there is one.

Keep Rusty and all the other vets in your good graces and you'll be amazed how quickly your comprehension of this process expands. I'm stoned and rambling. Take care all and keep it green.

Thanks for the post Iry, advice well taken. Yea my next grow ill get the big bloom too. U guys have all been so helpful, Rusty, my boy Dive. Thanks for all the advice guys. Also the pure gold(healthier) has already shot out pistils all over the plant and the pure power has shown no signs of sex yet. they were femenized seeds but i have read that does not garentee female. What do u guys think, maybe the power just takes longer to show?

Also, Hey rusty do u presoak with the big bloom like the feeding schedule says to and do u feed with every other watering or what? I want to do everything right for my next grow.

Femmed seeds have no females if done right. Ever. (per genetic limitations...no male genes)
I've never presoaked, but I never use jiffy pellets or rockwool, either.
My FF schedule is above, But I have been using Cha Ching with mixed results for the past 6 months or so. Not something I'll purchase again, but have nothing against continued study till gone.

Some strains take longer. Patience.

I'd say if it's only been a couple days of health, give it a week or so before you go playing with the hormones. If it isn't 100% you'll just throw another variable into solving your problem. K.I.S.S. philosophy definitely applies until you have it dialed in. Keep it green bro

Topping is a technique used early in veg, and should not be done during flower. After the stress they've already seen, likely best to let 'em finish untouched anyway.

Baby steps can reap great rewards. Might be best to learn how to take them all the way to harvest, before risking a tragic mistake. If they like what you're doing, they'll let you know. Patience. :jointsmile:
