here are some pictures of my plant at about a month
its almost a foot tall
but the leaves at the bottom are turning yellow and falling off.
is this normal?
also any suggestions you may have would be great.
this is my first time growing. i hope its a female

Not good my friend. At this rate, you will be lucky to yield 1 gram of bud, which might get you high if you are really lucky. The fact that it is still alive means there might be some hope in you after all...

That plant looks very stretched. What type of lighting are you using?

At a foot tall it should be much bushier, judging by the leaves it is not sativa dominent so should look something like the pic below, which is my current grow when it was about a foot tall.

Don't sprout those seeds until you get things together a little better (especially on the lighting side) The "El Cheap Guide for Lighting" is a sticky in the indoor lighting section, a must read. Dude get a better light. go to the Home Depot and pick up 2 42watt CFL's My plants are a mounth old today and they are over a foot tall and very bushy. I'm already on 12/12 lighting.
Im going to help you out because i made all of this mistakes you are making right now.
Cheap grows are not hard to make work but they take a little finagling.
First you are going to need 2 sets of bulbs.. some that are cool light and some that are warm.
you will need about 3 bulbs per plant for veg i would suggest you get something that is 5000k or higher. from what i can see it seems like you put your lights way to high up. your plant is stretching its little heart out to get at that light. The cool things about florescent lighting is that you can almost put it right on your plant. You really should be doing that. once it gets to a mature level and is big enough you can start flowering and this is done by taking your lights and putting them on a 12/12 light schedule. when you go to this i would suggest you switch to 2600k lights.
reading the lighting section will really help you i would suggest you do that too.
Your space seems pretty open i would suggest making it into a smaller space with a white or reflective surface to maximize your lighting. get a fan on it because that will help your plant bulk up.
I had a real problem with over watering and the pot your using might have that same issue if it doesnt have holes in the bottom.
you can still make this work but it will take a little more time and upgrading.
your plant can still do alright. but yeah it will not be the best. I did a shitty job my first time and still ended up with quite a bit of weed. Mine was cheap but took a lot more time then it should have. dont worry stick in there and good luck. plus most the people here are professional growers they know a lot and make the best bud they can. me personally im the home brewer that just wants to get drunk for less then he is paying outside.
You really need a better light like a H.I.D. for better growing !!:):rasta:
Way to go at least you are growing something. Read some of rustys, stinkys, dutchpimps, weedhound,and images posts along with the others.Try to find posts from folks that are located in same area as you as they have delt with same issues. Good luck and feel free to ask for help! Peace
I think you could still grow the plant. More light, more fans, more ferts.
Get a small fan and have it blowing on the plant. Then have 6 cfls above it and around it. Then give it some MG. See what happens while you are waiting for some new plants to sprout.
If seen worse go further on here. You can use the plant as a practice plant.
Yeah you will find a lot of info here. I think one of your main problems is your lights, specifically if they are flourescents, are to far away from the plant. My flourescent grow lights are basically touching my plant and its going well.
