Newbie that needs some quick advice - emergency!!!

I had a few seeds given to me and i put them in a wet napkin in a drawer and they sprouted within a few days. I planted them in miracle grow with some perlite. Me, a newbie, not knowing enough, constructed my own hydroponic system and used some earth juice grow and water of course to feed the plant. The plants started off ok, two of them out of eight have already died. I stopped feeding them the earth juice because i figured i was over feeding them and maybe my ph is all off and now im just feeding straight water a few times a day to hopefully flush out whatever might be wrong.

Only one of the eight is looking healthy but not like i think it should look. After they sprouted from the soil they grew about four inches, started growing the first set of leaves, and now the next set perpindicular to the first set are starting to grow. But that is only on the healthiest plant, the other five remaining the first and only set of leaves are drooping and curling at the ends. i have a set of 30 inch flours with t5 bulbs and two 225 bulb led lights. i have the two leds angled on each end at about a 45 degree angle and the t5s about 6 inches directly on top of the plants.

Any advice or tips on what i might be doing wrong is greatly appreciated as i think the rest of the plants are on their way out and would be such a waste.

MG soil has nutes, no need to give them this early anyways. Probably burned them babies up!

can anyone suggest a medium i can buy at homedepot/lowes/etc that i can repot my plants in that would work with my earth juice?? maybe i can save a few before its too late

maybe rockwool, peatmoss, or something along those lines?

you sprouted them in soil, then moved them to your hydro system? you live in a city with no other gardening shops eh? me too, and it sucks. lowes, home depot, wal-mart, all are great for building your setup, but they have NOTHING for nutes, soil, etc. They must have a contract with MG, because its all they sell lol. i bought some Scotts Premium Topsoil (scotts and MG are a paired company i think) and mixed it with the MG perlite. no problems too bad yet with my plants, but i'm gonna order some stuff off the internet soon. the MG potting soil continuous feed worked fine for me too, but it was full of bugs. if you get that, you should sterilize it in the oven before you use it to kill the eggs. i know i've read a thread about doing that on here somewhere, but you dont wanna get it too hot or the soil will be doneski. hope i helped a little.

Promix HP or Sunshine #5, while your there get your self a bag of dolomite pulverized lime and learn how to apply it. I suggest read like a MoFo, I know school sucks but you can get high in this classroom.

thanks for the replies. i sure wish i would have found this site before i started this whole thing, ive read alot elsewhere but i found more info on this forum tonight than ever.

my first mistake was repotting them inproperly, i also had them too far from the lights for the first couple of days and may have either not been enough light or stressed them out. Im off to find a better medium and transfer them properly this time.

thing is how do i know when to give up on a plant? i would hate to throw a few out when all they needed was a little time to recoop in the correct conditions. some of them the leaves are curled up and weighing the tops down (look like they "broke their neck")...but they are still almost 95% green... should i throw these out and reposition the rest for better use of light or keep them?

Prob. got nute burns like stated earlier. Flush ,Flush ,Flush with water only. MG soil or fert is crap stay away from it like the plauge. Me personaly I use60-65% vermiculite to 40-45% perlite as a medium thats it. Old school hydro.
Clones...veg...flower.... loves the mix. When done right, after harvest the roots look and smell fresh like alfalfa sprouts. Enough of that I am getting hungry now. Best advice is the K.I.S.S system. Keep it simple stupid. You feed that plant like feeding a newborn on a Berry Bonds "juice" diet. Like everything, practice and trial and error will show you the light. I happen to think MG is a very manageable soil. With practice of course.

i transplated all my plants into a mix of vermiculite, perlite, and a little peat moss. i watered them a few times since but they still arent looking too good. im hoping its not a disease issue or a lighting issue

what kinda lights and how far are plants from light? check out fox farm line of nutes you can search it online.

I thought peat moss had a ph in like the fours or something........I could be wrong.

i have two t5 bulbs, two 225 bulb red/blue led lights, two 6500k 2000 lumen cfls and one i think 2700k 1950 lumen cfl. its rigged well and the light is even, and i have a good spectrum range. i hope!!


my healthiest one of the plants one of the leaves curled up and fell off, but the newest node (2nd node) seems to be growing noticably fast. maybe it will be ok in the new soil while feeding a super small amount of earth juice grow in water (about 1/4th the amount suggest for the mild solution)

i forgot to add that i have the t5s about 4 inches on top in the middle, the cfls pointing from the top corners, and the leds hanging at a 45 degree angle from the top sides of the grow area which is all encased in white
