I forgot to switch on air pump in DWC bucket!!

Hi, I am in a bit of a panic. My plant is 2 1/2 weeks into flower and going great, but I changed the nute solution in my DWC bucket about 17 hours ago and forgot to switch the air pump back on. I just realised when I noticed how quiet it was. I opened the cupboard to switch it on (letting light in during dark period) and some of the leaves are a little bit limp. Has anyone else had a similar experience, and do you think it will be ok? I could just wait and see but I guess I am looking for a bit of reassurance. :(

Or maybe there is something else I can do to help it.

Don't Panic !!!!!

There is lots of oxy in the water for that amount of time. It maybe the water change. Did you up the nutes or change your mix in any way ? Did you bring the level of water to the same mark so roots hang in water ? If not I would take a cup os so from the rez and pour over the rootball in the netpot. It will come back quick.

My bro just had one do the same thing but he is still in veg. We are not shure why it did that but a little rez water broght it back quick and is doing fine.

If there were any changes in rez mix then it could be something else. Let us know.

Oh yea I think we figured the fresh rez mix was a bit cold and needed to warm up on these cold days first. So we will check temp of water before change to make shure it's not toooo hot or tooo cold.

I agree with LOC NAR.

Less than 24 hours without the airpump should be ok.

Cold water temps definitely give it a shock. Either mix in some warm water or let the res sit in the room for a couple hours to warm it up. 65-75 F is a good range to shoot for.

I had done a full water change, which I do every 4 or 5 days. If the level drops in between changes I just top it up. I only switch the pump off when I drain the bucket for a full change, and thats when I stupidly forgot to switch it back on again!

The leaves were only a little droopy, and it was only some of them. Oh and I use the shower to fill the bucket as I can control the temp and it sprays the water in, so should add a little oxygen to the water. Nutes are the same as last change. I guess I will find out when the light comes on this evening and I can open the door to have a look. :thumbsup:

That's a tall plant! How big was it when you started 12/12?

The roots look great. i would do a full res change every 7-10 days. It's less work, saves you time and Nutes, and is just fine for the plant.

Is the height troublesome for you? in future grows are you going to try and control the height more? My only comment is that it looks like there's a bit of stretch.

He he, it is a tall plant, and does seem a little stretched. I am running it under a 250w HPS, and kept raising the light because 1 branch kept reaching higher than the others, should have invested some time in Low Stress Training I guess.
It was only 16" when I switched to 12/12 on the 17th January (see pic 1, under HPS but last day of 18/6), now it's about 50"+. It is a bit of a hassle being so tall, but I will be bending the tops over gradually, already done a couple.

BTW, the cupboard is only approx 1.5' x 2.5' x 6.5', so a 250w HPS should be good. I have a 4" passive air inlet with a 4" exhaust with inline fan in the loft space. The system is a DWC grow bucket with about 20 litre capacity and a drain tap at the bottom. As for the strain, I don't have a clue, it was a seed that came out of some really, really head fuck weed I got from a mate, it may have been called phsycosis or something, could be a hermie seed or some kind of cross. All I know is it is sticky already and has a wonderfully strong citrus/skunk aroma.

hah. very nice. that's an excellent setup for a first grow. Growing a nice bag seed is always satisfying. I'm about to buy some new seeds and get some super genes going.

Since these boards were down for so long i had been spending time over at ICMag. There's a group over there called the 150w club. You should wander over there and check out some of those setups. Really great stuff.

get a few grows under your belt to get a good feel for it, then start messing with LST and ScrOG. If you can get the height under control you'll have a killer little factory there. I'm sure you've read that many strains can double or even triple in height when flowering starts. In a space that size i'd flower around 8-10". But then again it is all strain/training dependent.

what kind of Nutes are you using?

Thanks elskeetro, my local hydro shop sells a huge variety of stuff, but the nutes I went for were Canna Aqua Veg and Canna Aqua Flores because they help regulate the pH of the solution somehow (seems to work too, always stays between 5.4 and 6). :thumbsup: And I'll take a look at the 150w club, cheers!

Thanks to you too LOC NAR, I will start a grow log too on my next grow. I did start one for this grow but it all disappeared when the site went down. I went back from about 50 posts to about 5. :(

Oh, and a quickie question... I haven't got any booster or anything yet, but will look into that over the next few days (too much snow here to get to my local hydro shop at the moment). Does anyone think boosters are a worthwhile investment for hydro? And if so does anyone recommend a brand or type?

I have used bud blood and then follow that with big bud. Also have used liquid Karma. Both made a good difference. I got some Gravity flower hardener just a couple days ago to fatten and make your buds hard. I don't think my bro will use it, he just don't like to try new things. Once he see's me use it he will beg for it if it works. Same company makes Bush Master. It may help you. Bush Master is for veg time and it makes the plant stop going up and bushes out. I hope to use them soon. Check out the bushmaster and we will compare. I might get to it first.

Oh and as for nutes. They are all formulated for one thing only and that's what we do. So more money doesn't alway give you more in that way. Yes some maybe alittle better because of like you say PH buffer but most do that too.

Do a search for LOC NAR and go back a couple years. I got my first grow log on here. It's funny tooo, check it out. The grow logs they busted me with some good friends here deleted just in case but I have all the pic's if you want to see some.

your grow is looking great bro. i sort of have the same situation as you with underestimating the stretch of my plant. i just didnt think it would grow so much so fast i'm 2 weeks and 2 days into flower and i've gone from 1 that started at 20 inches the other was 23 and now their 45 and 56 inches, i should have put them under the 12/12 when they were smaller. but i guess thats what first grows are for learning the ropes. its not a mistake i'll make with their clones, did you take any clones from your plant? you see my girls here if want to cheack them out

Hi animalman, yeah looks like we are almost at the same point in growing. I took some clones just before putting it into flower and they are doing great. Will have a look at your grow. Cheers.

From the ones I used you are correct 3 to 4 weeks into flower. All have instuctions on time. May vary just a bit but not much.
