Possible zinc deficiency, I need a diagnosis!! - Pics inside

Hey sup guys, been lurking this site for awhile trying to gather up as much info as I can on growing. About 2 weeks ago I started my first grow and planted a couple bag seeds, out of about 5 seeds only 2 ended up sprouting and started veg growth. The plants are both at 3 nodes each so I haven't started any neuts yet at all, just plain tap water so far. The medium is a mixture of potting soil, worm castings, sand and perlite. Anyways, one of those 2 plants is developing some colour lightening on the top leaves after a week and a half under CFL's in my grow box. It kind of looks like zinc deficiency to me, but then again this is my first grow and I have absolutely no idea.

I might just be worrying too much and it could be nothing, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. If anyone could let me know that would be awesome, thanks.

how much dirt you got in those cups???

Looks like less than 1/2 a cup.....I would be transplanting them into some 6-8 inch potters

I have tried most of the commercial brands of potting soils and this one works the best... IMO:hippy:

Well until I know if its something in my dirt thats causing negative effects on my plants I'm not going to be changing it just yet.

Something else that might help: This is only occurring, so far, on the smaller of the 2 plants... They both sprouted on the same day and have been under the same lights the entire time, but one is still much smaller and has now developed this weird colouring. Could it just be shitty genetics in the one seed?

I completely agree........they need new more food, soil and space. They're ready.

Just finished transplanting them into much bigger pots, about 3 times the size of their previous pots. My timers are about to turn the lights off for the night so I'll post tomorrow with some pics.

Okay, well its been 2 days since I transplanted and gave some 20-20-20 neuts to the plants at 1/4 strength. There hasn't been much change in the one plant that already had the colouring appear, but the 2nd, more healthier plant is starting to show some signs of the same thing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Back off on your new nutes.....you just transplanted into fresh soil which should have nutes in it already.....Now you're starting to talk overnute here so so stop giving nutes for awhile, make sure your drainage is good, use water within the correct ph and if using RO or distilled water be sure to add Cal Mag.

You didn't specifically mention what type of soil you transplanted into so i'm assuming it's a quality soil already set to the correct ph.

How long should I expect to wait before I start seeing some of this light greenish/yellow colour to start going away?

The leaf damage will not get much better looking, so watch the new growth. That should give you a good idea whether or not they're still pissed at ya. :thumbsup:

You need to fill out the form with info on the soil, nutes, and water.

I thought I'd give you guys a bit of an update instead of leaving you in the dark - If you care or not :jointsmile:

Plants are starting to look alot better in my opinion, the colour changing that I was starting to notice in the more healthier of the two plants appears to have completely halted. I've also just finished tying down the stem for the 2nd time, I'm working with limited space in a grow box so I decided to give LSTing a try :rasta:. The smaller of the two is looking much better with the colour evening out, however the tips of a few leaves on it are slightly burnt.

stinky, if you feel my plants are still looking like they're not quite out of the woods yet, or if I should fill out the form to be on the safe side, by all means I will.
