LR2 under a 400w MH
Here it is guys, my complete indoor Lowrider 2 grow. Started under cflā??s and finished under a 400w Metal Halide in 6ā? then 12ā? pots. I used 2 different Miracle Grow vegetable plant foods, 1 for vegetative growth and 1 for flowering. I believe they were 24-8-16 and 15-30-15.
The details of the grow are explained below with pictures.
Enjoy!
P.S. This grow actually took place some time ago. Iā??m just now getting around to posting the log and pics

Day 16
These are pictures of my Lowriders after just over 2 weeks. They have rooted nicely and are starting to grow rapidly. Unfortunately, this is when I fucked up. I added 2 more CFL lights over the plants with no extra ventilation then left for 10 hours. It was close to 110 degrees in there when I got back and the plants were nicely burned. I believe this stunted their growth later on because of the low harvest weight. If this happens in the future, Iā??ll probably try changing the light cycle from 24/0 to something more like 17/7 or 16/8 to ease the stress and slow down the flowering process. Or if someone has some experience in the matter and has some good advice to offerā?¦

Day 19
A few picture of the damaged plants. The lower leaves continue to turn yellow and burn for several weeks after the ā??incident.ā? Despite the burning, this plant is doing pretty well and continues to grow.

Day 21
I finally build a cabinet and start some HID growing. Iā??m using a 400w metal halide from HTG Supplies (via eBay) that I bought last year and never really got to use. As it turns out, HID is really f***ing hot and I had heat issues the entire grow. I had an 80cfm fan venting the air out into my attic and quite frankly, it wasnā??t enough. For anyone planning on growing in small enclosed spaces with HID, I highly recommend an enclosed reflector and at least a 250cfm fan, if not more (400cfm, 500cfmā?¦). Heat is something that shouldnā??t be an issue and can cause some subtle but very real problems. My final harvest was half of what it should be, and heat was a large factor.
At temperatures of 95+ degrees F, cannabis basically stops growing. The fact that my box was between 92-98 degrees for the majority of the grow means the plants were stressed and didnā??t grow as much as they could.
You can still see the leaves yellowing and burning in these pics.

Day 23
This pic shows how badly the plants are still burning in the heat. I think at this point they were also nutrient deprived. I used regular Miracle Grow vegetable plant food and looking again at the directions now, I badly under-fertilized my plants. This is something that should be easy to fix in the future if I use Miracle Grow again.

Day 25
This is when it gets ugly for me. I was doing my usual daily maintenance and noticed what looked like patches of white mold growing on the high points on my soil. Closer inspection revealed millions of tiny white mites crawling around on the dirt. The mites only infected 1 of the 4 plants at first which I moved out of the box and destroyed. The other plants got infected a few days later, probably with eggs that had been laid earlier. I bought a pyrethrum ā??vegetable safeā? insecticide spray at my local hardware store, and sprayed daily until the bugs were all gone. It cleaned up the majority of the bugs the first day then I was spot treating small areas for the next few days. Eventually it killed all of the bugs. This might have had an influence on the overall harvest weight, but I donā??t think it really did that much damage. The actual plants were never infested and I only sprayed them once (I usually just sprayed the dirt).
Here is a pic of one of the little white mounds.

Day 30
Itā??s amazing what a few days of good growth can do. The plants are starting to show their personalities for the first time and are starting to bloom. One plant is obviously taller and more spread out than the other 2. One seems to be growing dense lower foliage and the other looks like a typical indica. There is a ruler in the pictures by the 3 different plants to show height and give you a reference. The growing pattern of the plants was actually reflected in the bud when you smoke it. The tall one gives you more of a sativa buzz and the shorter ones make you more stoned.

Day 34
These pics are of the tall sativa like plant and the typically indica plant. Both are starting to flower nicely and are producing numerous budding sites. The sativa is producing multiple side branches with buds while the indica is producing buds mostly on the main stem with only 1 large side branch.

Day 36
Today I tried something new with my lighting. The colors are much more accurate this way. You can see how nicely the plants are budding. The middle plant is blooming much slower than the other 2 and finishes a few days later.

Day 40
The plants have pretty much stopped vertical growth and are now starting to really grow. They are just starting to grow some frosty resin glands on the buds and bud leaves.

Hi, How much of a yield did you get?

Day 42
Wow, these buds are really growing! You can see an obvious difference in just 2 days of growing. The buds are starting to poof up and become solid and there is some serious resin production going on. I did my best to take some close ups of the developing buds.
Enjoy!

Iā??ll let the pics speak for themselves

Day 52
This is the point where the hairy fluffy bud becomes a dense solid mass. This was really cool to watch because you could tell a significant difference each day. Resin production is out of control and you could see some of the trichs starting to turn cloudy under the microscope. Harvest is only a few days away!

Day 63/65
11 days later, and itā??s harvest time. The final wet weight was 83g for the indica, 52g for the sativa, and 72g for the leafy one. All dried out, I got 17.9g, 15.3g, and 16.3g. The leafy plant was not quite ready on day 63 and was harvested 2 days later.
The 3 plants smelled very different. The sativa had a sweet cedar smell that was really amazing and smoked extremely well with a nice balance of woody body and sweet aftertaste. The indica was much sweeter and smelled almost like honeysuckle or light tropical fruit. It smoked well but hit the lungs a bit harder. The third leafy plant was actually the most resinous plant, but was rather disappointing to smoke. It tasted like typical beaster and got you pretty stoned without much head buzz. The last few hits of the bowl usually tasted like ash.
Overall a good grow. I got some highly discounted buds and provided myself some therapy in the process. I learned some valuable lessons about growing and will definitely be able to improve my outcome next time.
If anyone has questions or comments, please feel free to leave them and Iā??ll do my best to answer.
And just for the record, hell yes Iā??d grow this plant again!
Peace!

really, really, nice grow!!!

Looks awsome. I just purchased Some cheap MH light setups and I was afraid I had wasted my money and they may not flower right with it. But With your grow, and a few others on here grew some massive buds with MH. I started mine with cfl, and ending with 400w MH just like yours. SHould be done in a month or so.

Yeah, a MH can be used to flower plants, but i would highly recommend a HPS instead. The red spectrum of light actually induces plants to flower more and the higher lumen output makes a noticeable difference in yield.
After this grow, I went out and bought a 400w HPS and I noticed immediate improved results.

I have 3 girls on a 400 watt MH, 14 days into flower, so I am inspired by your harvest. I added 150 watts of orange/red soft white cfls for the budding cycle to hopefully help, but will also likely get an hps for the next cycle. Good grow! :rastasmoke:
