An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
This thread is going to be a bunch of pictures, grow tips, and strain descriptions of some of the strains I have worked with in the past, and still work with today.
If you have pictures of your own, post em up- include the following:
-Non-blurry pics of your plant
-Life stage when the pics were taken
-Any grow tips you have for it
-Smoke report and any medicinal benefits it might have
Cool.

An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Old school commercial strain that is still being run in New England. Frosty, outstanding tolerance of abuse, thick leathery leaves, high yield in all types of systems.
Outstanding for anxiety.

There are a few iterations of the Sweet Tooth line from Spice of Life. Shown is a flowering Sweet Tooth #3 that needs a drink, a vegging SWT, and a BlockHead that is re-vegging. It's a high-yielding grapefruit strain and commonly cashcropped.

An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Afghani x Iranian from Plan B Collective. Anti-insomnia. Crops easily under indoor lighting conditions. Excessively frosty. This is a true hash plant. Sorry I've got no cola shots- they are SPEACTACULAR. Best bag appeal of anything I run, or at least in the top 3, and one of my favorite strains for anxiety. 7 week finish is manageable. Spicy-sweet hashy flavor.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Nirvana Standard. Just a basic Haze with an accelerated finish. Structure is pretty indica and I just don't get excited about this one.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
A Toronto commercial strain crossed with an American medical strain (see 'Bogglegum' entry later in thread). True wild blueberry aroma. Beautiful silver buds. Plant is very unruly in shape. I intend to outcross her to my BlueMoonRocks male (the BoggleGum isn't much better for structure and I don't have access to the BlueJay parent) and fix that before line-breeding it to stability.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
BOG seeds. Outstanding structure, IMVHO the burliest plant I've run. The leaves are so thick that the edges ruffle up. They are like shoe leather. The main stem is like a tree trunk even on young plants. For bud production it is nothing special, but for breeding sturdiness into an otherwise weak line, it has a ton of potential. Look closely at the pics to see the ruffles. Oooh pretty!
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
BOG seeds. Very frosty, fruity, and sweet. Good medical strain for pain- it's quite strong. Seems to pass along the surface resination in crosses (see BlueJay x Bogglegum above). I love it!
Shown are various life stages. The last picture is my male.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
IR Seeds. A 3-way hybrid of C99, G13, and Northern Lights. Light feeder, fast rooter, super fast and frosty finish, but the best part is the fruity sweet scent. Pineapple while growing, grapefruit and gin when cured. Body effects that are more euphoric than other body stones I've encountered, almost sexual when over-done. The soil-flowering plant shown is the actual individual that placed 4th in the 2008 East Coast Nugs n Jugs competition.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
West Coast Seeds. The ones I got are not from WCS; they are an inbred-line derivative from my area (western New England). It's originally a cross of Mighty Mite and a pre-Dutch-era Skunk of some sort. The high is said to be uplifting. I've never smoked it, but a DD x MM backgross I had at a festival last month in Maine was definitely a good solid spicy-skunky flavor and good up high. It has semi-autoflowering traits and finishes Sept15 at 45'N lat. It begins to flower earlier than other strains. I have no flower pics because all the plants were given away to be finished outdoors after I selected a vigorous mother to keep.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
FoxySeeds. White Rhino x Yeag's Matanuska Thunderfuck (Kenai line). Strongest weed I have ever smoked. Narcotic. Outstanding for pain and opiate painkiller withdrawl/replacement. Needs some breeding work to get the structure a little better but heck, smoke em if ya got em... Good sweet flavor, calyxes may be pink or striped, adn teh overall appearance of the dried product is a dusty grey-pink-ivory color.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Clone-Only. Massachusetts Super Skunk x Chem D. Painkilling. May go pale bluish-purple. Note the really fat calyxes and how they stack on each other. Has potential to yield quite well. Excellent for pain, and very relaxing.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Mandala Seeds. True hash plant, very tolerant of abuse, grows well under flouros, excessively frosty, ping pong ball nugs, sweet/hash scent, near-pink appearance, excellent for bubblehash. I like it for bag appeal and ease of growth. The leaves are very wide. It makes me sleepy.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Nirvana Standard. This is the best strain I run for nausea. It is easy to grow too. The yield is average and the flavor is average. I plan to work with this line and the BOG SourBubble (also a Kush type) to breed a more flavorful line than the HK with taller stature than the cabbagey SourBubble.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
TGA seeds. Space Queen male x Orange Velvet female. Excellent structure- stiff and upright. I prefer to run this one in soil or soilless. The colas are so large that I have had mold problems in hydro where the buds rot from the bottom/inside up. Scent of an orange Julius. Remember those? Long hairs, maroon leaves at harvest. This is my #1 recommendation for Multiple Sclerosis and other degenerative nerve diseases! It is effective against nerve pain and inflammation-related pain.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
W-Ma clone only. Originally from a pack of Sensi Super Skunk, discovered in 1986. This is a true roadkill skunk. It is the heaviest cropper I have EVER run. It reeks, feeds heavily, gets big, and is just a very vigorous plant that makes its presence in your garden known. High is perky. So is the plant. So are... ; )
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Soldotna AK local line. Phenotypic variation is noted among the beans I have run but all have some commonalities- dark wild grape scent with hints of chocolate, heavy creeper stone with visual effects, long duration of high, ease of growth under artifical lighting. Note in the pictures you can actually see some Ruderalis influence on one pheno, and another has pink hairs and some striped calyxes. The pheno not shown in live form produced the pure plum purple buds shown in the last pic.

You'll be hearing from my lawyer!
Nice list so far. I'll add the 2 strains i'm running.
1. Northern Lights X Skunk #1: From Toronto420 seedbank.
Decent yield. Responds well to training.
Very dense buds, tight nugs, great bag appeal.
Slightly hashy odor, needs filtering.
Takes some abuse, but doesn't like heavy bloom boosting.
Solid finish in 8 weeks.
soft, perky leaves. Very beautiful at 5 weeks flowering.
Taste, odor, and potency GREATLY improve after 1 week dry, 1 week cure (but keep curing!)
High goes: buzzed - body - laughing - artsy (read, music, be creative at this stage) - stoned - passed out.
Here's some pics at 6 weeks flowering. Could have finished bigger but this batch suffered some root rot towards the end from a high res temp.
i'll be right back with strain #2.
thanks
Skeet.

I'm glad you said that, I've been too embarrassed to ask anybody else :wtf: ... NCDG always makes me horny :computerlove1: ... definitely going to concentrate on that trait, in future grows ... hell, I already got her name picked out :D

Lookin good Skeet! Thanks!
WT- Sticky? Perhaps... let's get the snowball rolling first!
Art- What a surprise! I'm so happy to see you show up on this side of the pond. Yeah- you already knew what sorts of 'things' I was going crazy with, though. lol.
Stoned- I dig strains with interesting flavors and always end up with a few fruity knockouts. It's hard to pick a favorite, but that NCDG is my favorite fruit strain yet. As for the MTF yield, there are 3 different phenos from that seed ine that I have tried. One is huge and has given me over a zip a plant in NFT hydro, one is Ruderalis in appearance and yields small but strong (I hung on to it for breeding), and the one I decided was the keeper for production is somewhere in the middle and I haven't tested her SOG yet. Yield off that I'd say is lower than average, but totally worth it.
Reap- Nothing like a lil spring in yer step. What'cha gonna name the offspring? Dirty Girl or sumin? :D
Luna- Those pics are from several years' worht of grows, in many different styles that include coco, promix, compost, ebb n flow, NFT... lol... similarly, the lighting on all was different. Right now I am running 2k air cooled over 2- 2x4 ebb n flow trays of containerized hydroton in 6" pots each on a 25 gal res in a total room footprint 6x6 with CO2 using the Canna Aqua line. Works out nice.
Trinitybound- That's because it IS the best. Easiest plant I've run yet, tied with the Afghani Dream. Rockin'!

Tex- That's right! Put 'em up. Congratulations again, by the way.
Bloodbrother- thanks!
Weedhound- They do? :wtf: MAster... SOMEthing, anyway!
WT- Yeah, or you know I'll post a reply with every typo corrected in red text, like a 5th grade teacher! MWAHAHAH!!!
Kowalski- Nice to see ya here!
Okay I got guests, gotta run!

An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
EXTREMELY lucky cal on selection of a very nice batch of beans. Almost chose a different one, but the last 3 weeks, well.....you can see it.
-Clone only
-Clones root VERY easy and within 5-7 days
-Veg up to one gal, transfer to 3 gal at flower for about a 5-6zip plant.
-responds GREAT to supercropping
-I like to top/FIM only once, if at all, supercropping can getcha a much more even canopy...IMHO
-Resin starts almost as soon as pistils show.
-Smell: Spicy, and woodsy...almost like cedar and sage I guess, hard to finger it, Ill refine this part upon further testing...lol
-Stone: 1st hit brings an immediate flushing starting at your face and traveling down your neck, and through your body. Second hint brings on that smile, as your smacking your lips, knowing whats to come. 3rd bong rip and well.....it earns its name. VERY good for anxiety, crohns, IBS, skeletal pain. Not a couch lock dumb high, but a VERY relaxed warm vibe. Does have creeper effect, so chill after 2-3 hits for about 15 min, see where your at. VERY strong meds.
Harvested at 20% amber for effects above. Doing 50% amber in a few weeks, so Ill have a revision coming Im sure...lol
Pics are as follows.
1. Bonsai mom
2. clones
3.veg
4.flower
5.dry
edit if ya like stinks;)

Nirvana Standard. Pretty basic commercial indoor strain, but it tastes better than commercial weed is supposed to taste, and grows easily. It yields well under many different conditions so is suitable for newer growers.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
West Coast clone-only. Very lemony, with a buzzy high. I don't like the structure- it's too viny for my taste and does not suit my growing style. Here's a pic of one re-vegging, but I no longer grow this strain.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Nirvana Standard. Very large yields of super furry orange buds. The bag appeal is great. The high and flavor don't come out until a good cure, at least 3 weeks. IT is also easy to grow and is excellent for noobs, or for people who want to count on high yields consistently no matter what happens. Keep humidity low because the giant buds will rot from the inside out if they are allowed to get moist.
-
An illustrated guide to some Cannabis strains
Nirvana Standard. South African IBL. It's a sativa that behaves like an indica. The harvest window starts around 8 weeks but give it 9 to put on the last kick of bulk before harvest. It yields really well and I like it best as a multi-top bush. Very hardy but does not like it outdoors in my climate because of mold.

Awesome thread stinky! I think I may have a Frosty going myself ( a mystery seed!) but we'll see.
You ever sample any of DJ Shorts wares? After much study and deliberation, and keeping in mind what I've seen here as well as read in Jason King's books, I finally made my first order ever - from the Dr. as well, thanks to your stellar review. Caught him with Blueberry and Flo in stock, and they shipped the same day. I can't wait! :D
Can't wait to see what quality genetics turn up under what I call my new "photon trifecta"! (A combo of HPS, MH, and a UFO LED).
Keep us in the know about that Sensi Super Skunk, sounds pretty damn cool. Whatcha feedin it?

Plan B Collective. Pretty quick plant that seems to do well under flourescents, but the yield is nothing to write home about. IT does, however, smell like berry jam and kick like a mule. I retired it.
