To those who have grown her, I am having some drooping going on with the NCDG.(I got a male too!!!!!!!!!!!) She has been transplanted a few days ago, and I watered her lightly yesterday. SO she cant be waterlogged....and getting some yellowing. Treated with cal-mag to no avail. Also, I started the seeds in RW, (never again) and the plants are VERY wobbly, will actually fall over if not supported on both sides....What did I do wrong?
Ideas?
also the leaflets are not flat. they are more v shaped. Is that just a gene trait?
Looks like low pH lockout; however, if you JUST transplanted, it may be a residual problem from previously.
Next time the pots are quite dry, give a heavy watering and check your runoff. Adjust if necessary, but in fresh soil, if it's good dirt, the numbers should be reasonable.
What's the dirt?
Also NCDG feeds lightly, like a skinny girl at a buffet.
Prop her up with chopsticks so the roots don't get more damaged- that will shock your plant like a sloppy transplant.
What's the soil brand?
Soil brand is MG Organic mix. Just opened bag. about 40% perlite. Feed every other watering. lightly. gave calmag every time though, thought I heard they needed it. My tapwater is 7ph.
MGO is pre fertilized. Give only water for now. Also I think calmag actually has N in it- don't quote me on that though. If your tap water is normal, you should not need to add the calmag. One member over at IC was saying that a top-dressing with a light dusting of lime, scratched into the soil surface, would be appropriate to give CaCO3 without adding anything else.
Hvent given em a full watering since transplant 2 days ago. they where not rootbound, but there was NO lack of roots. But none circling the cup. Hope they get over it in their new pots soon!!!

Sorry to hear you're having problems with the NCDGs, they sure look healthy to me....I too use that dirt, but havent used it on my pot plants as I love my hydro...Do as Stinky suggests, but I would give them a good watering after a transplant.....I water my plants in dirt till it runs out of the bottom...I then know they have a nice deep water...I have found thats a necessary way to water in growing on my deck...I also add my own compost I make to that MG...Can ya see the Hawaiian Snow? its there....
Hope things work out as I'm sure they will...DGs a tough one...she'll pull through for ya...

Kidding... I know you're nowhere around here but my ex's dad, a definite toker, has a deck and plant collection that look EXACTLY like yours!!! hahahha
They seemed to not be draining good, and where amost soggy when transplanted, thats why I didnt water. Just not getting the droopiness still 2 days later. Hope they pull through. BIIIIIIG plans for that male!!!
Treetops, I garden (nonMJ) as a hobby too! (took a minute to find that HS! Was fortunate enough to try it in adam in 05) Just something very peaceful to me to sit blazed with any of my plants and tend to em, something about being able to control how something grows. make it go left, ujp down many or one branch...... I am even starting an extreeme bonsai with one of my JD cuttings, gonna attempt max stem, with minimal root and vegitation....mostly wood, true bonsai style.

Hmmm, well its not like you havent a clue as to what you are doing...I thought your dirt looked dry...I too have a male....planning on brushing a few flowers as well...She'll pull through with your loving care...
Enjoy growin a plant of two out there..first time was able to do it all summer...It is so nice to be able to see it has grown the next time you take a look at it...and like you say, just to sit there and look...Thank God!! Smokin the top of that plant as I type...Excellent!!
I hope you start a thread showing how you're doing a bonsai as I would like to see the progress...havent tried that as yet...

Treetops, Here's a few shots of the first bonsai I started on....She has just been WAY chopped back again, pics up later today.....but she gives well over15 cuts being 4in tall......
They arent look too much better. Still getting new growth, but still with the fan leaf sag...Dirt is still a wee moist to add water yet, maybe tomorrow. I may just end up taking cuttings from both if they dont get better and cull em. Ideas? Or am I over-worrying here. I mean, they are still giveng some growth, just wobbly and saggin leaves....GRRRRRRRRR

I can't get the photos to pull up, large enough for me to see (my internet bandwidth not too good here), but I would suggest maybe over-watered ... I've never had a problem with NCDG not being sturdy, that's a new one ... I'd suggest taking a close look at the mainstem, where it enters the soil ... look for any sign of stemrot, (a narrowing of the stem at soil level, or just under the surface) ... don't start throwing 'remedies' at her ... she's VERY durable, and likely to recover on her own ... I'll be watching this one ... good luck there :thumbsup:
Thanks a bunch IR!!! Im tryin to let them ride out! Not really "treating" them. The soil was pretty moist when I transplanted, and its been about 4-5 days since that. I think the looseness? has to do with the RW imo...never using those again for seed!
Maybe I buried the RW too close to the surface? ahqqa!
edit: I did get a male!
