well the state its in sucks except for a few talented ones like outkast, kanye west, eminem and a few other talent rap artists that keep it fresh and new. However the underground is still good and has quality music with artists like canibus, royce 5'9'', and others. My favorite is em b/c he is funny, original, and a very talented poet/lyracist plus he has mastered his flow.
Ever heard of malice? great underground shit
I want to say yes but to tell you the truth i really don't think soQuote:

Underground is the place to be. Down ass artistis not in it for the fame. Wicked shit 4 lyfe
I don't really give two shits what state it's in, but here's what I like...
GZA
50 Cent
Gravediggaz
Cypress Hill
Some Ice Cube
Eazy E
old Snoop Dogg
Outkast
Twiztid
and course
The I.C.P.
Hip hop right now isn't that great but I still love it. Don't be fooled though by the underground/mainstream status. There are plenty of underground guys who suck, and there is a select few that are good. (That's why most of em stay underground, they suck)
And I know people like to shit on mainstream rappers like Ludacris, saying he's too "pop" or whatever. Yeah he's got a few bubblegum songs but Ludacris is nasty.
I'm all fucked up so my typing doesn't make too much sense so I'll wrap this up.
Mainstream, I really like Nas, Biggie, Big Pun, Big L (RIP x3), D-block, wu-tang, Cormega, Mobb Deep, Cam'ron, Scarface, and Jay-Z. (Never was too big of a 2pac fan)
As far as underground artists, the only ones I like are Apathy, El-P, Jedi Mind tricks, akrobatik, and aesop rock.
Stoned Penguin, Malice is one of the dudes in the Clipse, right?
Anyways if any of you guys want me to reccomend some tracks I will, hopefully I can turn you on to some new shit. Peace

Well sir, I'm calling bullshit on this one. At least for the part about rape. I don't know any one who would condone that behavior. But you're right about the mistreatment, violence, abuse, etc. I guess all I can say to that is that I don't buy music by anyone who beats women. A lot of the best rappers out there have done songs praising women as well, so you really can't generalize.
And as far as Ludacris goes, I can tell by your avatar that you are the type to watch FOX news... Well Bill O'Reilly is full of shit, sorry.
And sorry for the double post but wasn't your man O'Reilly recently brought up on sexual harrassment charges? And if I'm not mistaken he settled out of court.

She got fired..just like Rather..for conducting a smear campaign based on lies and mis-information.
Yeah Jedi mind trcks, Immortal technique, A-Z thelist goes on, none of these talk about rape they talk more about elevation. Lets face it gangsta rap sells big units to white kids who wanna buy into the immage that they think being bad is what hip hop is, I always thought it was about 2 mics and a turntable.
I blame the record companies they just wana make a quick $..........
Peace
Eminem talks about rape in a few of his songs. He also mentions kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach because she wouldnt have an abortion. And you know what? He says that shit to get reactions out of people like Torog, and it works!
Secondly, George Bush promotes violence, prejudism, etc.. The difference is, rappers dont actually kill someone just because they said they would, whereas GW Bush is responsible for the suffering and deaths of thousands of innocents lives.
oh yeah, I dont listen to much rap or hip hop anymore, but when I do its all stuff from the 80's and 90's, coz I dont like much of the stuff thats out at the moment, which the exception of maybe Nas and a few others
Its one thing to listen to rap.... but its another if you take the words to heart... its pretty harmless if you take it with a grain of salt... it often has good beats and stuff... that is just my opinion.
Muslim jihadists, are the ones responsible for the deaths and suffering of thousands of innocents-not Bush. Thanx to the hard work and brave sacrifice of our men and women in the armed forces, women are allowed to vote and participate in politics,in both Afghanistan and Iraq..and a new era of democratic freedom, has risen, where there was none before. I reckon that keeping women oppressed and second-class citizens,is what you advocate.Quote:

I live in Atlanta, the dirty south, the new motown, and whatever else they are calling it on the radio. We get more underground and new stuff out here than anywhere else, I like it. I like luda, a whole lot, em makes me laugh, Trina is my girl, you can never go wrong with Dr. Dre, I am liking the youngbloodz lately and yin yang twins because it's good ass shaking music.
i like listenign to choped and screwed music where they slow it down nice and slow!
I know both of those songs, they're good but not close to nas' best.Quote:

Oh yeah, any song from Illmatic is good, too.
I am an avid fan of rap, although I started out listening to mainstream, I now mostly listen to underground.
I beleive Torog said something about songs who talk about rape and other criminal acts. Who the fuck rapes a woman then talks about it in there songs? They might say something out of anger or to express themselves but wouldn't do it then brag about it in there songs. If your accussing Tupac or any other artist for this, just listen to other types of music and mos tof the sames stuff is in there. It's just most of rap artist talk about there reality and that stuff might be in there reality. Anyways, they always have songs such complementing women and appreciating them for many things. Just as an example you can look up, Tupac has songs for women such as Dear Mama and others that complement them and also ask "Why do we rape our women, Do we hate our womem? He also has a song saying" Since a man can't make one, he has no right to tell a woman when and where to create one." THis is just off the head. There are plenty of songs out there, mostly by the more intelligent rappers though, that say the same things whether mainstream or underground.
I agree with RIP ODB here with his choices on rap artists but I'd liek to also throw in Slug, Murs, Sage Francis, Louis Logic, and some others I can't think of now.
But I also love Nas, Tupac, Jay-Z, Eminem(don't know how many times I had his first lp taken away in 4th grade), Big L(so many props to him), BIG, Scarface and so many others.
But I recommend downloading some good underground stuff. Although im only 16 I remember when Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas and Outkast dropped classic albums. Sorry, not sure where I went with this stuff.
-peace
Yeah i like sage francis too, good call there.
i like sum rap n hip hop.....i like kmk, icp, twiztid.......but i also like snoop...and i like run dmc.....and beastie boys....and de la soul (some of it)...i dont like most of todays music tho :(
and the difference between that and movies like kill bill, and stephen king novels is?Quote:

I listen to musick all about killin, rape, murder, etc. I've always been a fan of horror, i love it. i like gore and shit like that. You either like it or you don't, everyone has there own opinions.
"You see the kids, they listen to the rap music which gives them the brain damage, with the hippin' and the hoppin' and the bippin' and the boppin' they don't know what the jazz is all about!" I like some rap, like bone thugs n harmony, old skool gangster rap, 2pac, snoop, dre, but i'm mostly a classic rock guy.
you ever hear ill bill and necro, them and the entire crew at psycological records rap about smoking crack, killing people, school shootings, rapeing girls, and other crazy ass shit. they've been around for a while there proberly the second best underground label (after psycopathic).Quote:

i used to hate rap, but you've gotta open your mind, Dr Octagon, aka Kool Keith, fucking awesome, with Q-Bert mixing, it's great guys, check out the track
"Bear Witness", you'll love it!
As for you Torog, you are the most stupid, brainwashed imbecile i have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Please don't bother to reply to this, any point that you could attempt to make would be inconcequential, as you have been so badly brainwashed.
ps Dr octagon is class shit, it aint all about shootin hoes an smokin crack, like all that mainstream shit, it's old school cool, peace!
shit dude....that was a little harsh! he was just givin his opinion and saying why.....better than just sayin "raps shit dont listen to it, listen to this..." you know....just his opinion....and now mine....Quote:

The reason why they make songs like this is soley for the purpose of pissing people like you off. Im not even kidding. You've admitted that you cannot name any of these songs (of course there are plenty out there), so you're basically making an assumption about something you know nothing about first hand.Quote:

"Voice my opinion regardless of how you feel."
And whats wrong with music about smoking crack?
Im sure you all jump at KMK and their bullshit though...but oohhh no, not crack.
the reason he wont and other underground rappers most likely not make it big is cause they wont whore themselves out to mtv. fuckin most of the in 'rappers' are just the new generation of pop stars, fucking look at ludacrises new video where he dresses like austin powers hes a fuckin joke. same with 50 cent fuck his bullshit and all of g-units shit is played out crap, how can you have any credibility when they chill on total request live with carson daily, thats just gay, the reason these rappers are huge and selling millions of records is cause the majoority of people buying them are those lil teenie boopers who'll buy whatever the flavor of the month mtv and radio says is. even snoop doggs new cd, he has a song with justin timberlake, enough said. eminem has been on teen people magazine, thats the same shit that used to have nsync and back street boys on it when they were officially 'cool'.Quote:
