This is fun. Apparently someone read Obama's Book. Who knew?
And it was of all people, a (gasp!!) Fox News reporter.
I know what you all are thinking, and if you just wiggled in your seat a little just from reading the words "fox news" then you may just want to ignore this post. I realize of course most here will dismiss this by...now.
Just for the fact it from Fox News. Whatever. Your excused I guess, get the fuck outta here!
For everyone else that could go on and read the article, here you go.
Basically, all excerpts from Osama's book.
Of course this is just horrible horrible journalism, the nerve of someone to read ButCrack's book and then talk about it! AWWW!
Well it's a good read.
I am going to read his book if he gets elected.
Probably in a prison camp somewhere on the arctic tundra, hopefully in the same cell as a certain VP candidate that may be able to help me survive in that kind of a climate. Yay.:D
Obama Affinity to Marxists Dates Back to College Days
Barack Obama shrugs off charges of socialism, but noted in his own memoir that he carefully chose Marxist professors as friends in college.
Barack Obama laughs off charges of socialism. Joe Biden scoffs at references to Marxism. Both men shrug off accusations of liberalism.
But Obama himself acknowledges that he was drawn to socialists and even Marxists as a college student. He continued to associate with Marxists later in life, even choosing to launch his political career in the living room of a self-described Marxist, William Ayers, in 1995, when Obama was 34.
Obama's affinity for Marxists began when he attended Occidental College in Los Angeles.
"To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully," the Democratic presidential candidate wrote in his memoir, "Dreams From My Father." "The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists."
Obama's interest in leftist politics continued after he transferred to Columbia University in New York. He lived on Manhattan's Upper East Side, venturing to the East Village for what he called "the socialist conferences I sometimes attended at Cooper Union."
After graduating from Columbia in 1983, Obama spent a year working for a consulting firm and then went to work for what he described as "a Ralph Nader offshoot" in Harlem.
"In search of some inspiration, I went to hear Kwame Toure, formerly Stokely Carmichael of Black Panther fame, speak at Columbia," Obama wrote in "Dreams," which he published in 1995. "At the entrance to the auditorium, two women, one black, one Asian, were selling Marxist literature."
Obama supporters point out that plenty of Americans flirt with radical ideologies in college, only to join the political mainstream later in life. But Obama, who made a point of noting how "carefully" he chose his friends in college, also chose to launch his political career in the Chicago living room of Ayers, a domestic terrorist who in 2002 proclaimed: "I am a Marxist."
Also present at that meeting was Ayers' wife, fellow terrorist Bernardine Dohrn, who once gave a speech extolling socialism, communism and "Marxism-Leninism."
Obama has been widely criticized for choosing the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, an anti-American firebrand, as his pastor. Wright is a purveyor of black liberation theology, which analysts say is based in part on Marxist ideas.
Few political observers go so far as to accuse Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, of being a Marxist. But Republican John McCain has been accusing Obama of espousing socialism ever since the Democrat told an Ohio plumber named Joe earlier this month that he wanted to "spread the wealth around."
Obama's running mate, Biden, recently contradicted his boss, saying: "He is not spreading the wealth around." The remark came as Biden was answering a question from a TV anchor who asked: "How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he intends to spread the wealth around?"
"Are you joking? Is this a joke? Or is that a real question?" an incredulous Biden shot back. "It's a ridiculous comparison."
But the debate intensified Monday with the surfacing of a 2001 radio interview in which Obama lamented the Supreme Court's inability to enact "redistribution of wealth" -- a key tenet of socialism. On Tuesday, McCain said Obama aspires to become "Redistributionist-in-Chief."
Obama has managed to cultivate the image of a political moderate in spite of his consistently liberal voting record. In 2006, he published a second memoir, "The Audacity of Hope," that leaves little doubt about his adherence to the left.
"The arguments of liberals are more often grounded in reason and fact," Obama wrote in "Audacity." "Much of what I absorbed from the sixties was filtered through my mother, who to the end of her life would proudly proclaim herself an unreconstructed liberal."
National Journal magazine ranked Obama as the most liberal member of the Senate. The publication is far from conservative, employing such journalists as Linda Douglass, who resigned in May to become Obama's traveling press secretary.
Bill Sammon is the Washington deputy managing editor for FOX News Channel.
I guess you can say whatever you want, but this is basically Borat Osama very clearly communicating the very core of who he is. So the source is not so much Fox News, as it is the man himself. I don't even see how entertaining the notion to vote for him is even defendable really.
But if someone could enlighten me as to which parts are, "taken out of context", or "that's not what he meant", and set me straight on this I am all ears. I mean, it's his own book, that he wrote right? It's not exactly disputable is it, or is it?:wtf:

I don't believe he's the only guy in the world with the access to Obama's memoirs.
""Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though," he wrote, about having used illegal drugs when he was a high school student." - Barack Obama

Of course not! But it is interesting that he has written 2 books and what not, and you don't hear much about them. You would think the adoring media that fall all over him would be citing pages like it was the bible. Better wait till after the election though, and then just mandate an entire class to Obama in all government screwwls. For every grade, every year. And make them all eat just pie, all the time, and make everyone have short haircuts too, and....
You get it.:D

You mean the same media, LA times, that has a copy of a video of Obama at a party for Rashid Khalidi and toasting/praising him after a bunch of anti Israel statements were made over the evening??
LA Times Refuses to Release Tape of Obama Praising Controversial Activist - FOXNews.com Elections
Allies of Palestinians see a friend in Barack Obama - Los Angeles Times
The LA times endorsed Obama on Oct. 19th; has this video and is choosing to not release it. If that's not bias then I don't know what is..
apparently Sarah Palin's wardrobe is suitable for media coverage and having the information released but another questionable figure in the life of Obama is not.
If there are such differences and disagreements between the two (kalidi and Obama) as Khalidi suggests then why would the video not be released?

The average conservative voter is a corrupt bigot that swallows bullshit whole and doesn't question anything. Look, I can generalize too!
By now, it would take something DRAMATIC to make me not vote for Obama. Is he perfect? Fuck nah, but is McCain good, at all? Fuck no! I won't pretend to know absolutely everything about both candidates, but so far the worst I've seen from Obama pales in comparison to even the best of McCain. I could care less if Obama hasn't mentioned Israel at all, or even if he harbors negative feelings toward them. I hate this whole fawning over Israel shit, like they're gonna help us out EVER.

Damn, I wish I could rep you again! That was . Simply because I have different beliefs and thoughts than anyone doesn't make me an idiot. Fucking get real! Generalizing kind of makes you sound idiotic.
I study the issues just as much as any one. I will never, NEVER, vote for someone who wants to take away my right to choice.
And, do tell? Why is FOX the only one jumping on this "terrorist" video? I read the article in LA times. I also knew you guys would run and jump with it. You're running out of time.
Obama had lunch with Palestinian-Americans!! How scandalous! This video was first talked about in April. Now its a issue?

Figures you would want to rep someone feeding off their own emotions. You may find it impressive but I certainly don't. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
I'll answer your question.. I don't know why Fox news is the only one jumping on this video and honestly I didn't even hear it from fox news.. I picked it up from the radio while driving into work. I listen for the traffic report and there was a brief mention of it.
So I googled to verify it.. and then cross referenced with the LA times to see if they did indeed have the video and if they were with holding it. The answer was yes they had the video, and yes they were withholding it.
So the question I pose to you is this. If you are a source of news and information... why would you choose to withhold information to your audience especially after you just gave him your endorsement.
People say the media is not biased.. people say the media is not compromised but I would like you to point out one TOUGH question Obama has had to answer about himself.
William Ayers was blown over as though it didn't matter. A man who is a self confessed marxist as of at least 2002. A man who attacked government buildings and put people's lives at risk. Why is the media not covering this? Why is this ok? Would it be ok if Obama had close ties to Timothy Mcveigh?
Obama's two books where he states socialist/marxist philosophies... why does no one ask him to go into detail about this? Why is it that the media seems indifferent about this?
Obama's party with Rashid Khalidi.. why would the new york times refuse to release this tape to the public? Typically when information/data like this is available it is made public. However this has been blown off and even refused to be given. What is there to hide and why do other media sources not go after this?
Obama's connection with slum Lord Tony Rezko; whom Obama defended and helped to get government money to help build his sub standard buildings that often were condemned.. a man who was indicted for his crimes.. a man who made contributions to Obama. Why does no one investigate this deeper? Hell you hardly even heard about it.
Obama's Connection with Jim Johnson who was the head of Fannie Mae during the time of it's accounting scandal. In addition Jim Johnson made over 90 million dollars during the book keeping mishap; later Fannie and Freddie would collapse and now Jim Johnson has been advising the Obama campaign unofficially (he withdrew from the campaign after a mortgage scandal surrounded him).. Why is no one asking these questions? Why is it ok that we ignore this?
Obama's connection with Chris Dodd, #1 receiver of donations from the financial institutions that would later collapse... with Obama being #2. Seems rather peculiar doesn't it? Why is no one investigating this? Why is it ok to ignore it?
Obama's connection to ACORN and their questionable practices. Why is it ok to ignore this? Why does neither ACORN nor Obama catch any flak for this. I could understand if Obama got a free pass but ACORN? Even if it's individuals doing this and not the organization.. as an entity it is their responsibility to ensure that the people they employ are conducting themselves in a legal and mature fashion. What they are doing is far from legal. Why does this not get more news coverage? Why is it ok to ignore this?
I have a much longer list and can go on and on. So I ask you... yes YOU specifically. Why is it ok that the media ignores things like this but it's ok to report on Sarah Palin's wardrobe?
Since you're such a student of the issues I would love to debate this with you. Since you're such a student of the issues why aren't you questioning the media's lack of interest in reporting the issues? Why aren't you questioning the media's inability to ask some genuinely difficult questions?

Whether you think so or not that is a big deal. Most jewish voters traditionally are thought to support democrats. This is another example of Obama speaking to the crowd, serving up the "flavor of the moment". Just dining it up while people make all kinds of racist remarks, imagine if McCain was at some dinner with KKK leaders etc....and there was a tape of it and there were people making racist jokes about blacks, and he was just smiling and having a good ol' time.
Nah, you are right, it's probably not a big deal. WTF?

- mccain said something very similar about how everyone would jump on him if there was a tape of him in a neonazi suit (conveniently forgetting that there are tapes of mccain saying racist things that the media has been sitting on for the entire campaign)...i still haven't seen or heard what was said and what it has to do with obama...jimmy carter, bill clinton, colin powell, and tony blair met personally with the head of the plo and john mccain isn't screaming his head off about that
"a bunch of anti Israel statements were made over the evening"
- exactly what statements were made? is it illegal to criticize israel's government?

Unfortunately no one has seen this yet, so no one knows. Can't imagine that it would be news if there wasn't anything significant on the tape, can't imagine why the source would demand that it be withheld until after the election. Hmmmm? I wonder? Why could that be?
No there is nothing wrong with criticizing Isreal's government, however, I sincerely doubt if that dialog, that evening, was a pleasant civil discourse over the political policies of the state of Isreal, but I don't know I am just guessing, just like you are I guess. WTF?:wtf:

As anyone can plainly see, this election has gotten rather dirty. Both campaigns, in my opinion, are filled with bullshit. I've heard and read many good and bad things about both candidates. IMO, neither is "best-suited" to be president at this time, due to the spiral of problems that we have currently. I have nothing against a liberal such as Obama. From what I have noticed, he is a collected and mature individual that has the capacity to respect every American perspective on policy. I believe that if Obama is elected, he will be a breath of liberal fresh air to our nation, with the POSSIBILITY of alot of good things happening. However, I do not believe he is that capable in handling an event of national threat. In this sense, I believe McCain would be a better commander-in-chief. If McCain were elected, I honestly would have no concerns for our nation's economy, because it would be absolute hell if it got any worse. And I don't think McCain is even capable of damaging it any more, and if he is, it would not be allowed. Everyone is watching, now, because our issues are serious, and has affected everyone.
The only solution I could come up with in my stoned mind is to have McCain take the reigns first, then have Obama or someone even more qualified to run after McCain's term. Why? Because, either way, our economy would improve slowly. There is no overnight solution. And I don't really find either's policies to be ideal. Both are wise men, in different areas. Both, from my views, seem to be tolerant of beliefs. So, I'm really at peace <now> because either is going to win. And marijuana decriminalization will happen on it's own regardless.

And I could've sworn the deal breaker for you was when he had an 'R' after his name on the vote ticket. Throughout several threads you've said some pretty mean things about republicans and conservatives a like. Hardly open minded like is suggested in your signature IMO.

"Really? Such as? Link provided? I am calling bull shit. No way the media would be "sitting" on a tape of McCain making racial slurs. Try again."
- John McCain's racist remark very troubling
here's someone wondering why the media buried the story:
Revisiting John McCain’s Hatred Towards “Gooks”
"Unfortunately no one has seen this yet, so no one knows. Can't imagine that it would be news if there wasn't anything significant on the tape, can't imagine why the source would demand that it be withheld until after the election."
- really? no evidence/link? i am calling bullshit...if no one has seen this yet, then it's something like the hoax tape of michelle obama saying 'whitey'...there may be alot of folks here that would read that and say "hell yaaa!" and not even question it, i am not one of those folks though...there might be a very good reason to sit on that tape...all it takes is a picture of obama wearing a turban to convince the republican base that he's a dangerous secret muslim...a tape of him smiling at a palestinian-american scholar might convince them he's the anti-christ
so: are you outraged that mccain repeatedly used the word GOOK? i bet you would be if obama used a similar racist term!

Obviously not. I don't know how else to tell you this, but I will tell you again, I am alot of things, pissed off is not one of them. But if it makes you feel good, then go ahead and tell yourself that. Obviously the negative rep was deserved!

Maybe, I don't know, but maybe it's not in the news, because it has ALREADY BEEN REPORTED!!!! THE MEDIA IS NOT "SITTING ON TAPES OF MCCAIN SAYING RACIST THINGS"!!!
So let's review,
On one hand we have the L.A. Times, that IS SITTING ON A REAL TAPE THAT IS NEWSWORTHY, AND ARE WITHHOLDING IT FOR POLITICAL REASONS!!!
On the other, you posted a link to a new article that was actually already reported in the news....8 years ago, as evidence to support your claim that the McCain campaign is "sitting on some secret tape of McCains.
So you put forth a premise, that is completely hypothetical, and then supported it with a link to a new article from 8 years ago? WTF? Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying prior to this post?:wtf:
So do I understand that you are outraged that the McCain campaign is "sitting on a secret video tape of McCain being a racist?" You do realize you made that up out of the blue?
And that in real life, there really is a tape of Obama living it up with real racist people that would like to eradicate every man woman and jewish child off the face of the earth.:D
You realize this right?
Unrelated, I do appreciate your ability to have a conversation and actually make relevant posts to the dialog, as opposed to crying about negative reps and then projecting your personal anger onto the person that really makes you so mad you pop a new hemroid! LOL!!:D:thumbsup::D
I appreciate your opinion and perspective, but that doesn't mean I will agree with you! But I do appreciate the fact that you can hang in and give and take in the back and forth instead of making worthless posts!
Kudos to you sir!

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS POST AS A PERSONAL ATTACK ON YOU! IT'S NOT, BUT I KNOW HOW SENSITIVE FOLKS LIKE YOU GET WHEN SOMEONE STAYS ON POINT, ASK DIRECT QUESTIONS, AND REMINDS YOU OF WHAT YOU SAID.

McCain campaign accuses L.A. Times of 'suppressing' Obama video - Los Angeles Times
You don't have different beliefs and thoughts, you think the exact same as the vast majority of members on this site. FYI
FYI, the other media outlets aren't running the story because THEY ARE IN THE TANK FOR OBAMA!
FYI McCain will not and cannot overturn Roe Vs. Wade, he can have an opinion, and yes, it may not be yours, but he is not a democrat, and will not/nor has the ability to overturn Roe Vs. Wade, and fundamentally believes that you are entitled to your opinion, and that the states should decide the issue. NOT HIM.

Interesting, since you are so informed, why don't you lay out the scenario of HOW she will do this as a VP? Good luck.

Not hardly, actually it makes my day to blast away on a true believer that can't keep it straight even as to why the "hate" McCain/Palin, "because he is going to overturn it, no wait because she will, no wait I have no idea what I am talking about, no wait I am trying to do everything besides directly respond to any questions or statements directed to me."
LOL
I actually enjoy the back and forth, your posts make me smile, alot. :D

"NEWS FLASH!!!

- how long ago did barack obama meet with bill ayers? how long ago did barack obama speak with that palistinian-american professor? when is the cutoff for legitimate historial reference?
"On the other, you posted a link to a new article that was actually already reported in the news....8 years ago, as evidence to support your claim that the McCain campaign is "sitting on some secret tape of McCains."
- no, i am claiming that the media and the obama campaign are sitting on tapes that might as well be secret because nobody knows about it...mccain gets a free pass for using the word GOOK because he was a POW...it's a non-issue because mccain probably isn't a real racist, but obama gets damned for being a secret muslim, or a terrorist sympathizer based on ????...if obama used a racist term to describe whites, hispanics, blacks, muslims, jews, or ANY group, mccain would have engraved it on the side of mount rushmore in 50 foot high flaming letters
point goes to obama for taking the high road (again)

WHAT!?
You sir are a crazy man!:D
Obama didn't take the high road? He didn't do anything! If he was really taking the "high road" he would demand that the tape be released to squash any doubt that there was anything questionable about the event and his attendance. That my friend, would be taking the high road!

obama took the high road by not reaching back into the past to make an issue of mccain's racist comments
why should obama demand anything to help mccain's negative campaign strategy? that would be like mccain demanding publication of his racist comments to prove he isn't a racist...no matter what mccain does to defend himself, his critics would pounce on a few tiny quotes and extrapolate that to his qualifications for the highest office in the land
i can't wait to see the video of evil osama wiping israel off the map...it should be a doozy

What do you believe will happen if it is overturned?
Here is a fact for all. Overturning Roe v Wade will not make abortion illegal, it would only say it is not a right. It would be up to congress or the individual states to pass laws regarding the issue, one way or the other.
