Bio-bucket bagseed grow

My setup...

4 26watt CFLs.
2 24" flouro tubes
211gph pump
2 5 gallon buckets
15 gallon res
Advanced Nutrients 2-part Sensi-grow at around 800 PPM
PH is approximately 6.2

It took me a while to get the PH right, but now that it is right the roots on one of the test plants have grown very quickly. It went from just a long spike with very few hairy barely noticeable roots, to what is in the pic provided, in a little over a day. The other pic is just of my current setup until I get something more permanent with the wiring and lighting.

There is really no drip though and it is recirculated at a high rate to keep the water oxygenated for the plants. This stimulates benificial bacteria growth to fight off the risk of root rot which also helps maintain a steady PH.

I think I do need to lower my PPMs though, the tips of the leaves are burning. The one plant has some faint yellow spots as well, although I'm not sure if that was from before adjusting the PH or if it is a current problem.

Just a little update. Not too much has happened as far as pictures go. They have grown a decent amount in size though and have many new branches forming. I'm still trying to decide if they like the nutrient levels and PH. The leaves don't appear to be getting any worse, so hopefully I am right about that.

I did transfer a larger plant (not pictured) to one of the buckets from soil. The plant was very healthy in the soil, so as long as it maintains it's healthy leaves then I'll be sure that I have good water perimeters. It had a weak root system, so I'm sure the roots will take off like the other plants have done.

They seem to be doing good.

The plant next to my thermometer/hydrometer has been growing like crazy. They roots on all the plants are all looking great as well. I'm very glad I switched to hydro.

One question I have is, will it be ok if I leave the plants two to a bucket? I know it's bad to do in soil, but I've seen other hydro grows with more then one plant to a bucket. If it's not very healthy for the plants, I have no problem getting rid of the two smaller ones. After all, they were basically just in there to make sure the water was ready. Although, it would be nice to just let them grow because they seem to be coming along rather nicely now. One is a little deformed, but I love all my babies equally.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention about my grow. These are femenized seed that I produced from my first grow that had a few plants turn hermie on me. I know have a rather large amount of femmed seed, so I'll have plenty of practice grows under my belt before I grow some Blue Mystic and Jock Horror. Hopefully this one continues till the end with how well it's going, then I'll move straight to the Mysitc and Horror for the next grow.

A few more pics of my plants. The one plant looks like it will be very bushy and I'm excited to see how well it continues to grow. The other plant seems to have self topped itself but is also kind of a mutant. It doe looks better and better as time goes on though.

Did a little reworking of my grow room, so I feel it is time to post more pics to better show what I have going on here.

The first pic is my current ventilation system, which is routed through the access door to the plumbing for my tub. There is a hole under the tub through the floor boards for the plumbing, so the air exits into my utility room in the basement. A carbon scrubber will come when I can afford to either make one myself or purchase one. (I'll probably just make my own, I'm pretty poor right now.)

Then the other pics are just of my plants progress and various pics of the current setup. I will also be trying to come up with a new lighting arrangement, but what I have right now seems to be doing a great job of keeping my plants bushy instead of stretching them out.

and a second post to show some close ups of the ladies. The first pic is of my plant that started out as a self topped mutant that seems to be sick right now. Second pic is of the girl that seems to be doing the best so far.

Just a little update. I started to LST two of the plants. One plant has been very sick, so hopefully it will get better and grow up to be beautiful.

Yesterday I switched over to 12/12. This is what they look like as of last night. I was going to let them veg a little longer, but seeing as this is mostly just a test grow, I just want to get the flowering done to make sure I can get through an entire grow without any major problems. That and I'm excited to see how good the bud will be for some seeds that I got from my hermed schwagseed plants.

So probably another two months before I'm able to have my own smoke, but it will be well worth the wait. I'll probably switch over to bloom ferts in a week and hopefully I'll be able to afford some more/better lighting by then.
