Drying Too Fast In SoCal

Howdy.
My last grow I dried indoors, but it dried way too fast, in like 3 days stems snapped.
The RH is really low, about 30% at best, but can be lower.
Would a cool mist humidifier be a good thing?
Some folks that deal with this low RH crap please chime in. What do you do to slow down the drying process?
I am going to cut and hang the whole plants in tact, I know that will slow it a little, but I am really thinking I need to use a humidifier to up my humidity. What are some thoughts to this specific situation? How do the rest of you SoCal folks do it? I mean the rest of you that do it right! Not the ones that get airy, hay tasting buds, I already perfected that.:mad:
I realize that curing will be the other half of the equation, but even with a 2 month cure on my last round, they were still horrible and I would not smoketh them.

I have also wondered about paper bagging them, but don't understand how that works exactly?

Putting them in a grocery bag (brown - unwaxed) helps hold-in the moisture yet the paper itself absorbs enough moisture that mold is averted. (a slow dry)

Hanging the plant is an old wives tale as far as resins flowing back into the cola, but hanging does allow a slower dry because of all the moisture in the stalk and branches. Hanging also allows a better airflow to the harvest, too.

I let my freshly harvested buds dry for a day or two, then I put em in the grocery bag. Just like curing, open the bag daily for an hour or so to let in some fresh air. :jointsmile:

that was what I was wondering about the paper bag! if the flowers were more prone to mold since they were all touching.
sounds like not necessarily, thanks rusty. it sounds like that come of the 2 would work! I think I will do that and forget about the humidifier.

You can hang for the first 2 days, then snip the buds off the plant and bag up for a couple more to slow the drying process, or use a large cardboard box that you can open and close the flaps to slow the process, just watch out for mold!

If my stuff gets too dry too fast I put it in a jar with a nice healthy green fan leaf and that seems to help restore some of the moisture without making things "wet" or moldy.

The only way to re-moisturize your buds correctly imo. :thumbsup:

A cheap humidifier does wonders KC, for $20-25 you could have the room sitting at 50% all day...

I figured, no helos or swat teams so I started to worry a little less.:jointsmile:

you could use the cooler curing method smoke comes out very tasty,
ya get a good size cooler (like a beer cooler) and fill halfway with water and put buds in for couple days pulls all the crap outta plants and they taste very good,the method is in Jorge's book. but I would after that use a cardboard box like stinky was saying works really well as you can control the air humidity and then into the glass jars for month;)

I hang mine in the shower room. I add hot water steam as needed, to the room. (not on the plants)
