Republican Rep Michelle Bachmann's "Anti-American" comments will cost her her seat
Republican Representative Michelle Bachmann went on Hardball and said she thinks Obama has "anti-American" views, and that the media should investigate Congress to determine who is "pro-American" and who has "anti-American" views. Holy crap! Get ready for the witchhunts!
Turns out her rant spawned such a backlash that her opponent raised nearly a million dollars overnight and is now in striking distance to unseat her! She raised her profile so much that the Democratic party piled in to run ads for her opponent. They are going to kick her hate-mongering McCarthyite ass out of Congress!
Here is the CNN video about the backlash:

she has never seen hardball, what a joke. if you are in politics you should watch all sides or you are bias and ignorant. i heard her tald and shes one of the most ignorant people ive ever heard talk, infact i would consider her a traitor to america
its insane to think the republicans are now saying half america is against america and half is pro america.
but the fact of the matter and you can see it, that the republicans have destroyed the american constitution by all the illegal laws they have passed and things like congress, executive branches ignore subpinas, private armys working in our borders, buying housing and banking markets(but thats both sides), so i would say look in the freakin mirror before talking

Chris Matthews ambushed her and took what she said, paraphrased it
to 'anti-american' and then smashed her over the head with his words.
he should be fired
don't worry though, the democrats are spending some $2,000,000.00 to
try and buy her seat. soon, they will have enough seats that they will be
able to do anything they want and we won't be able to do anything about
it. and by we i mean ordinary American citizens.

I saw the interview, and he did badger her and goad her, which is what he does on the show, sort of like O'Reilly and Hannity do on Fox. But he didn't "paraphrase" her like you said, and he didn't put the words "anti-American" in her mouth --- that is exactly what she said in her own words. Watch the video of the interview if you don't believe me --- only clips of it are in the CNN piece, but I'm sure the whole thing is online.
I think there is really nothing more un-American than calling another American anti-American. If you are an American, you are an American, and that is it. We need to get past the name calling. We should be able to have extreme differences of opinion about what the country should do and how it should be run without labeling the other side as anti-American.
What the hell does she mean by "anti-American?" And what does she mean when she says Obama is anti-American or that there are members of Congress who should be investigated for being anti-American? These words have meaning. To me "anti-American" means a person who is actively working against the country. Is she suggesting that Obama and members of congress are actively working against the country? Like some kind of fifth column network who has infiltrated the government?

if you actually care about being fair then you will watch this video
again, in it's entirety. if you do, you'll see it was Matthews who
used the term 'anti'American', then he spent the rest of the interview
trying to get her to say it so he could stick it to her.
she brings up many, many things that are troubling to many Americans.
we're headed toward socialism and Obama wants us to return to the
welfare state of the '70's, and don't take my word for it, do some
research into the Democratic tax policies of the '70's.
Chris Matthews should be ashamed of himself.

I guess you have a completely different take on it than I do. She spends her time making a roundabout case that Obama associates with people like Ayers and Wright, and Mathews tries to get at the relevance of the association. What does it mean?
So he asks her, "So you believe he may, you are suspicious that because of this association, Barack Obama may have anti-American views?"
And she reasponds "Absolutely! Absolutely! I am very concerned he may have anti-American views!"
He didn't put those words in her mouth. She said them. Do you think he hypnotized her with his Jedi mind trick?
Frankly, I do not like these kinds of shows at all and do not watch them. Mathews technique and style are as annoying as any of these combative style interview shows on either side. But I'm sick of this guilt by association and the way they use it to SUGGEST something without coming out and saying it. So I think it was great that Matthews got her to come out and SAY what she means, even if it took some badgering. She thinks Obama may have anti-American views and she thinks Congress should be investigated and exposed for its anti-American views.
Now that we know what she thinks, we can let her constituents decide if that is the kind of person they want representing them.

I don't see what the big deal is. Its just more mindless rhetoric by politicians.
An anti-american congressional commitee? Yeah thats going to happen. They would first have to try and find someone pro-american in the congress.lol

the relevance is that, with associations like this, Obama wouldn't pass
the security clearance to get a job at the local VA Hospital, let alone
the Presidency

first, they were his words, not hers, second she said 'may' have anti-American
views. the point is, we know for a fact that Ayers has anti-American views,
as does Wright and Flager. Resko is just a thief.

You can view "I am very concerned he may have anti-American views!" through your filter, and I will view it through mine. The fact is she was secure in her seat and now she may well lose it, and the turnaround is directly related this dumbass statement of hers. Nothing more pro-American than voting out a hatemonger through the democratic process!

I'll bet Murtha loses his seat due to calling his constituents a bunch of red neck racists. Agreed that's not NEAR as bad as picking on the chosen one though.
Have a good one!:s4:

God willing, every person in her district that cares about truth will
show up on election day to re-elect her, fuck Chris Matthews.
hopefully, Dodd, Frank, Pelosi and Murtha will all be voted out and
replaced by people with enough integrity to vote for America and
not for themselves.

When did politics get so bad?
Oh wait. Probably when we put in a two party system. I think we should dig up the grave of whoever's idea that was and smack em.

Does that mean Ben Franklin came up with the idea? If so, god damnit. I swear sometimes Ben Franklin should have just shut up....
It doesn't help my image of him when he was a womanizer and an alcoholic. Oh well.

To say Obama can't even acquire the lowest level clearance, a public trust, is laughable. Obama already has some kind of clearance to be able to serve in some of the committees he has. Let's take a look:
Committees:
Foreign Relations, Member
Health, Education, Labor & Pensions, Member
Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Member
Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, Member
Subcommittee on African Affairs, Member
Subcommittee on Children and Families, Member
Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Member
Subcommittee on Employment and Workplace Safety, Member
Subcommittee on European Affairs, Chair
Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services, and International Security , Member
Subcommittee on International Development and Foreign Assistance, Economic Affairs and International Environmental Protection, Member
Subcommittee on State, Local, and Private Sector Preparedness and Integration, Member
Veterans' Affairs, Member
How ironic!

I love the idea of anti-American , it's something I have been called on a number of ocassions and still find it hilarious.
If I don't like what your goverment is doing I am called Anti -American.
Therefore my hatred of American pot laws (I find the penalties far too harsh) would also make me Anti-American as they are something American. :D
Do you see the insanity of the very use of anti just because someone wishes to change something about America , the person in question may be happy with 99.9% of what America does and is, but because they express a dislike for 0.01% they are branded with the stupidest of titles.
It all sounds very 50's and reds under the bed. :wtf:

Tit for tat rep is kinda childish don't you think :S2:
I live in the country that drew up the document that your bill of rights is based on except our version has been around since June 15, 1215 CE.
I like my country but I know it could be run better and I also know that corruption is rife.
If someone were to criticise the British goverment there would be a good chance I would agree with them , I certainly wouldn't think of calling them anti-British as I would consider the fact that they have the freedom to criticise to be totally British.
Although in all honesty the concept of democracy is neither American or British.. it is in fact Greek. :D

post Civil war, we should have remained 2 Americas i guess.. that way, everyone would have been better off(except minorities of the federation) and we probably wouldnt be in any of this mess... i mean just think about these comments. people who make them would be better off living without association with those they attack, and the ones being attacked would live a happier life not hearing these stuff ...
even if it would go on this very same way that its happening now, it would go on between 2 independent geopolitical entities, so it would be fair game... this is just sad to see Americans saying these things about Americans.
We probably would have never gotten involved in WW II as a whole country and part of us would be excluded from blame of being imperialist or using nukes on civilians. maybe the more pacifist part would be the one possessing nukes, who knows
it's just funny thinking how the world would have been if we had the federation and the union as 2 countries in 2008, order of power would be much much different!
the only sure-bad thing would perhaps be prolonging of slavery in such a case
i aint sayin this to promote division at all, rather ridiculing such divisive comments, its just sad to hear these things and see that such beliefs actually exist at different levels of the society in this day and time
I have an analogy for this election: America's got a long lasted nasty pimple and this election is the tight pinch, poppin it with the burning alcohol on top; bringing out both the nasty germs and the blood, but i hope the exposure to the reality that this election has brought will have a long lasting effect in minds and eyes of the people... sadly i think masses got a messed up memory and will forget very important points as soon as the storm is passed, until the next time that is.
if we had the technology and security of 1950s or 60s, i betcha obama would have been assassinated a hundred times by now!!! so much hate for him under different excuses by different type of people. and i totally wonder what if one extremist within the secret service or the trusted circle could just pull the trigger on the fella one day... when i get here in the scenario, i stop thinking, cuz it gets really scary and quite unpredictable on what may happen next...
