About to buy some lighting equipment and have found that ebay cant be beat for pricing... just sketched about using my card info. to order with.
What's people's thoughts on buying equipment off of ebay? Worth the savings over cash at a store or what? Would really like to save the 100's of dollars.. but obviously don't want to be seen by the man...
everything used in a growroom can be bought legally and used for purposes other than growing herb. you should be legit, although a rule of thumb is never ship to the growing address...got a buddy?
Ya, I do have a different place to have it sent.. it's just my info. that they ask for when I'm buying is what's got me paranoid. Just learned that a money order can be sent to this company which should take care of my worries. Won't be as speedy.. but will provide the much needed peace of mind.
I have heard that is a risk to buy off Ebay. But I would think that it depends on what your buying and the quantity... I wouldnt worry too much about buying enough equipment for personal grows, myself but some people do... For example I wouldnt purchase multiple large wattage lights( 4 1000 watts HPS).. But I wouldnt do that anywhere on line!! Ive used TexasHydroponics in the past... But Ive recently heard some negativity towards them... Im not of the believe that the FEDs are out there everywhere clamping down on personal growers.. Scouring the internet. Maybe they do, but I cant see the validity in trying to round up everyone with a spare room and a 600 HPS! Be careful but not paranoid...d:rastasmoke: Good Luck:D

It's pretty ridiculous that for $300 on ebay a whole 600W HPS w/vented hood, and digital ballast can be bought, and to get the same setup at a local store its like twice the amount. I don't get how the stores jack it up that much and still sell there shit... People must be wantin to be as secret as possible and are willing to pay out the ass for it. Paranoia is a side effect of the hippy lettuce am I wrong? :stoned:
go to the mall or gas station and you can buy an american express gift card, put some cash on that. and use that number to buy stuff. you could still get caught on camera somewhere, but i SERIOUSLY doubt that will happen for a personal grow

I agree with the other poster ... get a pre-paid credit card at the mall, bank, where ever, so long as you don't have to provide any of your info to get it. Then use that to order all your stuff. Alternately, you can get an 'additional cardholder' on your credit card. You can get it in any name you want. I got one for my 'roommate' who orders everything.

I suggest you try Craigs list for your town. You never know, that old guy who lives down the street may be selling his setup, who knows. and it sure is easier and cheaper to just pick it up in person and pay cash.
buying off ebay is as safe as buying anywhere else.you're buying a light fixture.what you use it for is none of anyone else's business.i've bought lights off Ebay before and never had a problem.
