I have an innate talent and spending just the right amount of time at someones house. Ill stay and have a real good time, as soon as my special sense can pick up that ive been there a satisfying amount of time I move on.
Elis special tip: If you leave while in the midst of everyone having a good time or right after you've made everyone crack up, it always leaves a real positive impression, they'll try to invite you back real soon.
And yes on the opposite end of the spectrum is one of the worlds greatest pet peeves, those who never leave
I use to be like that during college, mainly because I lived a in real shitty dorm (read: rats and roaches everywhere) and never wanted to actually have to sleep there. HOWEVER, I would always have plenty of weed with me (not to mention a repertoire of amusing anecdotes and a massive CD collection) to make my near constant presence in my friends' homes pleasant and generally welcomed :stoned:.Quote:

my sister inlaw allways over stays her welcome, she turns up in the morning and leaves late evening, she has a 2 yr old who is into everything and wants all the attention,and as i won't smoke in front of the child i end up spending all day in the kitchen,whilst the rest of my house is overtaken,i feel she uses us for a baby siting service and last weekend i told her so, she hasn't been round since, sometimes you just have to tell people if they don't take the hint.
same shit with my uncle. except not by a few hours, by weeks. shows up unexpectedly, consumes SO FUCKING MUCH for one person (mainly soda and tons of food, leaves the lights on all around the house, even during the day). he stays for a month and a few weeks usually. it's the only reasons i dread the holidays, a chance that he might show up.
I had a friend like that. I met her at a "good" time and she later became a real drifter. After a few days stay when she'd done her laundry and over-ate all my munchies and her massive dog had left massive shits in my garden I just wanted her to go. She had a hard life and I had a difficult time telling her to piss off. She eventually settled down and sorted herself out and now I don't hear from her.
Most people who over stay their welcome at my house just get the straightforward "Look, I love you but you have got to go." It doesn't happen often but so far it's always been understood.
thank you, this is the real truth, i try to live by this rule myself, i used to not have anyone over at my house do to the fact that it was a wreck, so i used to bum around and go to everyone elses house, and for the first few times i did i would hang around maybe a little longer than we should have, but i got used to it, for i never really went around to peoples houses till after i started smoking when i got a large base of friends, and now that i have my room clean i have people up and we chill, and luckily ive had very few incidents when people have overstayed their welcome, only once has there been one when it was unbearable, i actually started to fall asleep while i was talking to them i was already laying down too. But its all good they live down the street, so its not like i even cared, cause i dont care if people stay longer, so long as they know that i may fall asleep, just dont fuck with my shit if im not paying attention, and you can stay till i wake up, but its not the usual case.Quote:

last night i went to chill in the Bronx with some kids from work, and we didn't start really chilling until like midnight, cuz it took us like over an hour to get there.
so we basically just ended up chilling all night, i got back to my house around 7am, but the thing is, i was ready to leave by like 4. but they kept goin "oh let's cook somethin, oh let's just go out for one more blunt" and i was like.. damn, i have like an hour commute back home and you want me to just get smacked in the face by this blunt lol all right if you say so
i mean, i guess that's not a bad thing, i was just hellllla tired
I'm a pretty blunt person so if someone is just hanging around my place with no where to go or be I'll just tell them:
Hey, I have to go pee. So either leave or help me get the charmin.
Usually people are so startled they leave...
or they stay even longer haha
And then you have a whole new set of problems haha

my friend, Larry (rip) ws called 'the man who wouldn't leave' he just got loaded and would pass out. I always had a simple method that was 90% effective. I would play badly on guitar and sing songs with my own words, etc. If I could get away with it I would crank it up. You had to know the other '10%' though. <G>

The reality of the situation is just don't have people over who you don't know or trust. It is rare that I go out, mainly because my welcome is quickly out-stayed or so I think. Actually I believe that is why people like me because I don't wanna stay, then there are times I don't wanna leave. Most of all I think there are some s who just ain't got shit to do but sit and stare vacantly. However making friends and keeping friends isn't important to me I try to be social, despite whether my conversation is good or not. Some people have problems and there are some who cause problems. I believe I am the latter (refer to narcissism, up there ^). Maybe I got a little attitude problems, so what? I just have to throw this in but, I have had this happen at leat 5 times with a hot girl in the room (not some anoying dude) and the occward silance comes in, the tumble weed goes buy, and my mouth just blurts out "Wana Fuk", and all of those times it worked. And if I remeber correctly it was always a good time. But that hasnt happend in a while, ahh memories................

I recently moved into a house with a couple of mates and another friend of mine is allllways round ere, six out of the past 7 nights he's stayed over, it's like 'take the hint!', it does my head in. I like the guy and everything but I want my own space everynow and then ffs lol
