New to marijuana...

Hi guys. I was wondering if I can get some help from some of you on this site. I just received my recommendation from the doc. for my headaches. I've only smoked marijuana several times before just to see if it would help my headaches and it did; however, I had no idea what kind of marijuana I smoked since it was offered by a "friend".

I'm going to a dispensary this Saturday but I have no idea what to get. I don't want anything too strong for my first purchase so my first question is: What kind of marijuana do I get for mild strength? (If that makes sense)

I'm trying to learn as much as I can and so far this is what I know regarding marijuana weight. Correct me if I'm wrong. 1 oz.= 28g 14g = half an oz. 7g = quarter. 3.5g = an "8th".

Another question I have is: what is the best way for a beginner to smoke???(joint, blunt, apple ect.)

I'm still learning the terminology so forgive me if ask questions on some of the things you guys write. :)

Some info: I'm 22, Male, live in the Burbank area, tried marijuana 3-4 times and it helps my migraines and headaches.

If you can afford a vape, that is best and it tastes better also!
Your gms figures are fine! But ask, anyway, they know and you need to keep them on their feet!

There was a recent thread on migraines, I am not sure, but look for it, there were definite recommendations of what to buy for migraines' from people that have that specific problem. Since, it is only a minor one for me, I go for the more serious problems. Wish I could remember, know I read it the past few days!

I agree with Painretreat. Vaporiser is the best/least harmful.

Northern lights would be a great strain to start off with. It's mildly sedative, has great pain relieving properties, and has only slight (sometimes none at all) visuals.

Stay away from hazes for now as they can be very intense, introspective, and sometimes dark for beginners. Kushes might be good, but again, they might be a bit too much for you to start off with.

Thanks for the replies. Just got back from a nice little place that just opened up last week, they didn't have big a selection so I got an 8th of Mr. Nice Guy.

agreed start off with something not so danky, northern lights is a good one. or try some of the various purple strains. just get a decent pipe. vipes are great but fucking expense and they go through more dank then anything else....

What you should do is get one indica strain, and one sativa. See which one helps your migraines better and stick with that influence. I personally like sativa better, but whatever helps you is best for you. Indica is more for pain relieving, as it is a full body high, and sativa is more of a trippy head high. Just get a cheap 20 dollar pipe (glass is the best). Since you're a beginner, you might want to get a bong or another water piece since it cools the smoke and is easier on the lungs, and gets you stoned fast and easy. I have a great 30 dollar plastic bong, it doesn't break b/c its plastic and it hits well. Hope this helped :jointsmile::jointsmile::rastasmoke:

Vapes' do appear to use more herb. However, I know a person that use's 30% less overall due to switching to vapes! I personally could care less about the high, I get high from decrease in pain alone!!! However, there are tricks you can use to utilize the vape to the fullest value for your money in herb! The ones you fill the bags with are nice, and the bag makes a nice backing bag for a chicken & veges when you are done with that one. However, one that heats up and you can place your mixture and tubes on WHEN you are about to medicate keeps the whole amt from being 'used' and you can use it many times. You will become accustom to the taste and feeling of when it is spent. Works fast and smooth! You do not have to spend hundreds for them. Go on Ebay and order one there. I went to a head shop and checked them all out, curiosity. I have noticed in the past few months they have been changing a bit, and I think I'd hold the big bucks back for what is ultimately what you prefer--even if it is the cheap one-results will be what you are looking for and buy from. It is too bad we can't have 'toy' parties like sex toy parties and get familiar with all that is available to us. Due to the stigma related to mmj, it is a shame that people have to learn how to be safe and use safely with the cloud of shame & fear over everyone's heads!

I had a migraine one time before I was vaping, not a bad one and we tried a mixture of Blueberry and Lavendar Soma: Another time, Lavendar crossed with kush! Both were full body experience's and very good for spinal-nerve and muscle problems. I don't remember what happened with the headache. Which is why they are telling you, stay with lighter stuff and find the right one or mixture for yourself. The other thing is, take a dose and wait to see effects prior to second dose. Get to know what it takes and doesn't. Stop when you know you have the amount you know works. Or keep on if you like the higher feeling and it doesn't adversely effect you in another way (I haven't heard of any yet). You don't have to smoke an entire bowl or bong full before stopping.

I have found, more than anything else in the world--EDIBLES are working the best for just about everything. I wake up with less pain in the A.M. and it gets me going better. I've had migraine's that last up to 6 mos or so. My guess is--try some edibles. The hard candy to suck on is really good (lollipop). Cupcakes, extrodinary! You do not get that 'high' feeling but you FEEL GOOD! Only someone that suffers with a lot of pain would really understand that. And it took me many months to really come to that conclusion!

Remember, some will stay in your system and you don't need as much medication as time goes one. As the months and years go on, you will need to take a break from the herb to lower your threshold for its' effect!

My only other advice would be edibles. You seem to have found the outlets. There are 2 in the Inland Empire that sell edibles that I am aware of and this is the one that I've tried: Human Kindness Center: (951) 654-2272. It is delivery (due to Inland Empire) but I think you would be kindly impressed at the relief you will experience!

I have recently discovered, now that I have been medicatine on a fairly regular basis for months that I tend to need a little sativa with what I use to give me energy. As the Indica tends to make me lazy (not my normal self) and I like the energy. Just enough, not too much, or you can overdo and make your physical problems worse (if you have other medical problems-back, or whatever).
Please check back and let us know how it is going. I am very `curious as to type of herb and your results? I am sure others are as well. And, I am starting to keep a list for my future reference! I doubt spending much time on a PC helps your migraine either! :rastasmoke: GL :hippy:

So far I've only tried Mr. Nice Guy. It helped my pain a bit but I am curious to see how other kinds of marijuana effect me. I have some sour diesel that I yet to try so that will be next on my list.

Here is a list of what the club close to me has. What do you guys suggest I try next??? Mr. Nice Guy was nice and not to strong so that was a good first experience but I have no idea what to get next. I don't want to get something TOO strong just yet.

Thanks for the edibles tip. I didn't even look at the edibles when I was at the store but I'll check them out next time I go. Only once that the club next to me has are soft drinks, cookies and brownies.

ask about what there plants are in relation to indica/sativa, mr nice im not sure but sour diesel is a hybrid, might be good as it will be a mix of body and head, so it should trouble shoot alot of pains,


Hash, its a concentrate of marijuana, probably something you should stay away from until your comfortable with what your using to medicate, hash would probably give you a one hit and you'd be well medicated...

Kush is just sort of a type of generally strong potency marijuanna

and marijuanna is well... marijuanna

also take one hit of sour diesel, and wait 5-10 minutes as its really strong and find a place where you like to be with it, i find sour diesel to be ANTI anxiety, very relaxing

You certainly don't get them off mids/regs/schwag/beasters. Try finding top quality herb and/or haze and you'll know what I mean. Just because I said visuals does not necessarily mean I was talking about hard core hallucinations like mushrooms. Those are two completely different types of visuals and both substances have far different chemical compositions.

Not all people are wired the same... marijuana has different effects on different people especially if someone, such as this particular user, is new to marijuana with a low tolerance. It could certainly have adverse effects.

I find sour diesel to be anxiety prone, try some OG kush and let us know how you liked it.. Don't be afraid of strong buds, a lot of it has to do with how you use it...

The Pineapple Kush might be good. The last time I had it, it had a calming, sedative feel to it and the taste/smell was out of this world. :thumbsup:

Sour Diesel is always good, but it tends to lean more towards the head and away from the body. Not sure how that will affect headaches. :what:

The kushes in general should be good for headaches. I find that when I have a headache, sativas tend to make me focus moreso on the headache where indicas usually just make me plain forget about everything. :twocents:

Are the vendors helpful at all? If so, I would certainly ask them what they may recommend for headaches of your type. They might be able to give you a better answer than the general population of pot-heads. :D

I actually forgot to ask the guy at the vendor what was good for headaches but he did suggest Mr. Nice Guy for beginners. Next time I'll make sure to ask him about headaches and defiantly get some indicas.

One other question. I'm smoking once maybe twice a week and not a lot for now. How long dose marijuana last if I keep it in a dry and cool place? Should I start buying marijuana in grams at a time or is it OK to buy an 8th if it's going to last me a month or two?

I would suggest getting a glass jar (possibly air tight if possible) and storing it that way. If it's hot in your area, you can always store in the refridgerator, but MAKE SURE ALL MOISTURE IS OUT OF THE BUD... if not, air it out 20-30 minutes a day so that it does not mold. Once fairly dry, you can keep in the the fridge for weeks and even months. By doing this, you're curing the bud and this process can even give it a better taste and smell.

Again, make sure to get all of the moisture out of it before sealing and cooling. If it happens to mold, toss it. Don't chance it. :thumbsup:

It is generally Sativas that are most effective against headaches. It's good that you have some sour diesel already, I think that will work out well.

An 1/8th usually lasts me and my friend about 3 smoke sessions if it lasts you a month your damn good at conserving.

I am curious. I most likely would not have tried them if they had not been given to me. It wasn't until days later I realized, I wasn't in pain that day! You can get a piece of candy and suck on it for several hours. Or, cupcakes and one is good for hours as well. It is smooth, you don't really feel it and you feel better, get busy with life and forget you had the pain. Again, I am not sure if it works for a migraine, but mine has not come back.

sorry, so long checking back. I've been down with my back and it seems I have been spending so much time on this forum, I either need to get a new back or some sort of expensive satelite system thru Hughes Net that is portable to have better ISP service. I am stuck with dial up for now that is barely adequate, takes too much time and having new bad type of back pain I haven't had in years. So, have to take a break from the forum, which I miss so much! But, I think of you and many others. Hope you are doing better and please give a report?? Hell yea he's savin. I went threw about a quarter (7g) last night i usually smoke about a quarter (7g) to 2 quarters (14g aka half) a day.

did some reading, id think mr nice guy would probably be best its g13x sensi's current hashplant which is actually (a clone of hashplant x northernlights backcrossed to hashplant, ) so its mostly hash plant and g13, g13 is called stupifying and potent, its stupifying just in the sense as you zone out, and hashplant gives it some super resin, making it quite a potent indica,its very full bodied smoke, high, and smell, and since its so potent it will require less meaning you use less and that helps save on money
