i am
Im sick of hearing the word fundamental
Biden roped Palin on gay marriage, making Palin admit she against gay marriage like Barack Obama. I think he's overrated as an "attack dog" but he's definitely good at setting you up for a trap. The only thing stopping him from tearing her apart is he seems to stumble with his words. But I think Palin is holding herself quite well for her inexperience.
yeah but they are both against gay "marriage" but for civil unions and thier rights
That smirk that's constantly on Palin's face irritates me. LOL
palin nailed biden on the surge/afghanistan issue, but other than that, she totally lost the debate, and the next president of the usa will be a secret black muslim who sends american five years olds to madrassas to learn how to 69 with eachother for al qaida *secret terrorist hand bump*
lol she did way better than anyone expected, which is going to help the mccain campaign. She didnt by any means fall on her face like everyone in the media thought. Obama sucks So does Mccain ....obviously everyone here is liberal for the most part so its gonna be a pretty biased conversation
the L-word is too limited a description...i think most people here are economically conservative, and socially liberal...the bush administration has been economically liberal (to say the least) and socially conservative (at least in word, if not in deed)
k well i'll say it this way then lol everyone here is voting Obama....Most here could have not even watched the debate (and probably didnt) and still said Biden was the winner with complete confidence:thumbsup:. time to roll another:rasta:
I loved how Biden totally smashed her face when she was first to speak about VP powers, and how much power they should have in legislative branch.
She was talking about how she would like some more power for the VP to "help" out the legislative branch, and Biden totally owns her by just reading to her what the constitution (that's the bible for politicians) says about how much power the VP SHOULD have and only vote when there is a tie, and nothing else.
She did better there, then in the interview.
I can handle someone stumbling over words (besides, Biden had a terrible stuttering problem from growing up to early 20's), but what I can't handle is someone blatantly trying to override the constitution to give themselves more power. That's a move out of the Cheney/Bush playbook.
I could give 2 shits about McCain, Obama, or Palin.... but Biden.... he actually seems like a guy I can actually vote for, even if hes not the president, the VP still has a lot of say.
Did anyone catch what Palin said about Biden's deceased wife? about her being in heaven while she had her dumb smile/giggle face going? That is like me telling a stranger I hope their dead father is in heaven..... so ruthless
Biden did almost choke when he was talking about raising his children on his own (I don't think he did it for sympathy) and it really touched my heart for some reasons I can't explain (normally when that shit goes down, I just say, "BOO HOO"), but it really touched my heart.
That debate really changed my mind on who I am pulling for. Before I didn't care for either canidate for VP or Pres.(Why would I? I was and still are a Ron Paul supporter) but seeing Biden debate, what he had to say, a little internet reading, and his pretty decent common sense logic (Palin is in the negitives on that one) I would like to give him a shot at being my VP.
I wish they would debate more on how much the wars overseas are draining the government and the us dollar value.
I did like it how Biden talked about the cost Iraq war is, compared to the Afghanistan efforts (something like 3 weeks in Iraq was equal cost to 6 1/2 years in Afghanistan)
One of the best debates I've watched so far, if not the best.
Oh and did anyone count how many times Palin called McCain a "maverick"
...jeez...anyway debate totally goes to Biden...though Palin did do well, better than expected...Biden wiped the floor with her. When the question arose about what would happen if the president died, Biden really gave a good answer and made you believe he can lead...but when Palin started answering...I cringed :DQuote:

I could go on all day about how faulty Palin is in everything she says.... I dont know why, but I hate that woman with all my power...
she keeps on bringing up her "experience" with executive powers being a mayor of a town less than 8000. 8000 > 300million...
sounds kinda like the age of the earth... you know.... 6000years and 4billion
Remember people, dinosaurs and people "co-existed".... people would just be out picking berries when a t-rex would come and ask if they needed help with said berry picking. T-rex was very humble and kind... today's scientists have it all wrong..... . .. . . giggle, smirk, laugh, grin, smile, clap, .... face in palms, shakes head.
^ Yep she's pretty much an idiot...what kind of world, or country rather, do we live in when wisdom and intelligence means nothing to leaders...when people such as her can even be considered a leader!? They keep spewing experience this...experience that...that's not enough to be a leader. I guess that's the kind of product you get from democracy after a certain while. Man seriously...gone is the age when there were great leaders...now we have people like bush, McCain...kerry...jeez
i think this is a product of religious idiots to be honest...
but it all boils down to that 1500page book that was a fictional story that somehow got turned into the truth.
whats the name of that again? B.. .b.....bi.... bib...bible! thats it....
Dr. Seuss could make a more believable story involving greens eggs and ham.
I was there man.
You know why they were green?
Sam-I-Am was the biggest stoner I ever knew and a dab hand at cooking with weed.
Amazing what you can do with a bit of alcohol and a jell-o mold.
...
Anyway, On the surface, the debate looked like a tie. On closer inspection, you'll see that Palin was HARDLY a participant. Sounded to me like she memorized a series of speeches to use at her discretion, because every time she was asked directly about something, she'd go off on something completely different (a great debating strategy, FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT THE ISSUES) or stumble around after giving a one-line answer. As someone who really tries to stand objectively, she insulted my intelligence. If I wanted to hear the bs she pushed on us tonight, I would have looked up her GOP Convention speech.
Sorry for the anger but Palin makes me want to cry some days, and other days she makes me extremely angry.
This is one of the latter.
Jake
I think Sarah Palin did a really good job on the debate good for her i say....I still think she is an idiot and even idiots sometimes have their day......
Seemed the only thing she knows is energy. Did anyone notice when the subject of energy came up she was all smiles, but when asked about gay marriage, the economy, VP powers she looked extremely nervous, and stumbled thru them.
IMO Palin did better than expected but was no match for Biden.

she did better than i would have ever dreamed, but i almost think they held her back and made her look idiotic so everyone had such a low expectation, that just saying hello in a confident voice made her look good.
i think the best part of the debate was when biden said the vp is there to give the best advice possible to the president
i dont think palin did good in the energy department, all she wants to do is drill and more oil, and thats the problem with our society. we need to get away from it while we still have a chance to do it without hurting many people
I think I heard the word "maverick" come out of Palin's mouth at least 2 dozen times. :beatdeadhorse:
Speak for yourself.Quote:

i don't recall biden mentioning mccain's plan to freeze federal spending (at over $3 trillion)...did that come up? maybe they're saving that knockout punch for obama in the next debate

I tend to agree with this poll. Seems that the left has alot of hate for Palin...could there be a reason behind this?
Have a good one!:s4:
Hmm... you must be looking at different polls than me. The numbers I'm seeing are more like Biden 51%- Palin 36%. The rest undecided. Interesting.Quote:

P4B,
I think the poll you seeing is a based on conservitives Because all the ones I am looking at all say Biden won, and Palin did better than expected.
palin biden debate poll - Google News
the drudge poll isn't an objective randomized poll conducted under the rules of statistical sampling....it's a non-scientific survey of people who visit the drudge site
drudge readers think palin won...that says more about drudge readers than palin
I thought Palin did better than expected --- of course, after the Katie Couric interviews, she was expected to gibber like a monkey, so it was not much to overcome. Still, I was almost happy for her that she did not look like a total ass, even though I really cannot stand her.
The main differrence between the debate and the interviews is that when you are in an interview, the interviewer can keep directing you back to the question and not let you wander off and answer something totally different. That is where she failied in the interviews --- when forced to focus on the question, her brain froze up and she babbled. In the debate, she could just ignore the question completely and talk about whatever she wanted to talk about. She'd be asked a question and then say, "Well, I'd like to talk about taxes," or, "I'd like to talk about energy." Biden pointed out once that she didn't talk about the topic, and she outright said she wasn't going to talk about what the moderator or Biden wanted to talk about and she was going to talk about what she wanted to talk about! When she did stick to the subject, it was mostly platitudes and generalities.
I thought Biden did well. He gave good thoughtful answers. He stuck to the topics and answered them intelligently. He was repectful of Palin. He was certainly far less condescending to Palin than McCain was to Obama.
The main goal of both sides was not to do any damage, and I think they both did that. Palin did not fall completely on her face, like many thought she would. And Biden did not stick his foot in his mouth or come off as condescending, as many thought he would. Neither did their side a whole lot of good, but they both avoided the downside.
In the end, the main question to me was, who seems like they could actually be the president if necessary? I thought Joe Biden seemed ready to be president. He knows what he is doing, and he knows the issues. Palin is not ready --- not even close. She is able to reel off what she has been told. And if an issue is not part of the prepared script, she just ignores it and goes back to the script. I cannot stand this "Joe Sixpack" idiocy she keeps going back to. We have already had a Joe Sixpack president with no understanding of the issues, and it was a disaster. We need someone who knows what the hell they are doing.
Probably this VP debate will not mean much. Now that it is over and no one imploded, attention will go back to the economic meltdown and the top of the ticket.
Guess I missed that one...must have been on the cartoon network the way it sounds.Quote:

Increase in taxes, universal health care, against drilling for oil, Rev. Wright, William Ayers, Chicago politician, lack of experience, no military experience, and the list goes on.Quote:

and I added the "bomb omb bomb bomb iraq" cause of McCain so hilarious dead humor on bombing Iran, while to the toon of the Beach Boys, Barbara Ann.
I found that hilarious... but maybe I was watching the cartoon network then.
Yea man...and if I was a Democrat I bet I could find a big list about McCain too. The point I was making was that of course a Republican, or a conservative website, would agree that McCain won the debate...or that Palin won against Biden. Just like a democrat would agree Obama won the debates. Imagine looking into the lochness lake for a long time...if you really want to see the monster than you'll see her...if not than all you'll see is a big log or something. Just like if you want to Palin win...she'll win. Maybe not you exactly...but you get what I mean.Quote:

Any independent thinking, educated woman should be scared to death of Ms. Palin. I know I am. I remember the stories of the back street abortions, and I really hope my daughter has the same protection of Roe vs Wade that I had growing up. What a scary thought.Quote:

Maybe it has to do with the liberal democrat media, and the spin they put on every little bit of dirt they can find on the opposing party.Quote:

Very true. Now... the problem I have with Biden is that he talks *over* the people, as if he was a professer giving a lecture. Don't understand what he's trying to say?? tough... go read my book, and do some homework. Palin OTOH was speaking *to* the people. She stomped on bidens throat at the start, and Biden backed off real quick. Biden tried to patronize her and got his throat stomped on again.Quote:

I don't put much stock in polls or such.... they are biased unintentionally or otherwise by the creator of the poll. I won't pretend to try to sway anybodys vote, but I will suggest that kids(especially college kids) are easy to mold in their political leanings...then when they have lived life some and have familys, etc....their priorities change and so do thier political leanings.
Did I mention that all of the left wing radicals from the Peoples Republic of Berkeley, that were in college in the 60s and 70s are the professors that are teaching our children now??
