Hi,
I am wondering how private/anonymous are our posts here? By posting on a site like this, are we opening ourselves up to harassment, guilt or prosecution?
I mean we are discussing illegal activities.
Any rules or guidelines for security would be helpful.

A Whois search reveals that the canncom servers are based in Florida, which means that they are subject to being subpoenaed by (U.S.) law enforcement.

The government doesn't need to monitor this site. They can extract anything from this site if they use certain key terms. Anyone can find out who is who in the internet if someone reveals too much about themselves. To use a real example, look at what happened to psycho4bud. He revealed a little too much about himself. It allowed someone to look up personal information on him to break-in to his email account and cannabis.com account.Quote:

Use a proxy if'n yer scrrrrd. The strict medical nature of this site is going to make us LESS of a target for LEO, but don't be stupid and link to your myspace which has your pic and addy on it, yo!
A proxy is useless IMO.. I'll just say my line of work partially lays in security. Proxy servers are simply 1 hop away from your computer; which they can pull that information from the proxy server itself.Quote:

Not with TOR. And if you are a TOR exit node, you can give plausible deniability that any questionable traffic coming from your IP did not originate on your desk.
If you are close enough to the source or destination and are capturing then TOR is useless as you can see incoming and outgoing packets at the source/destination.Quote:

TOR is a good network but don't rely on it thinking you're covered 100%. Always give yourself an escape route. Altering your Mac and leaving your wifi open or with weak encryption gives you a fairly strong case.
In addition I would recommend http over ssh (a form of web tunneling); this would encrypt your outgoing packets. Which I believe TOR does anyway but I question how strong the encryption is where as Triple DES (ssh)encryption is proven.
edit: I should add for the average use... setting up an http over ssh series of servers is much harder than using the plug and play TOR; which accomplishes the same thing. My thoughts on the encryption are my own opinion and me being stuck up because of the industry I work in. For all intensive purposes it is probably just as good as HTTP over SSH, and probably better from the standpoint of user friendliness.

now, as others have said, u have many ways to increase your safety with simply not providing any identifiable info. your only identifiable info will be your ip, which again its like that on every single site on internet if someone is on to u, to get ya!
u can totally resign from internet if u feel paranoid that much, cuz u r identifable if someone really wants to do it.
its like saying u get an alarm for the house, u increase your relative safety
but if a gang is really up to doin some shit to u or your property, no alarm is going to guarantee ur safety.
look how many banks get robbed, how many people get killed/robbed in front of cameras with a ton of evidence left out, and yet how many of these criminals are just never found.
IMHO generally speaking u have less chance of getting busted by posting on this site, than by riding dirty or high out there on the streets
plus, there are programs for not too expensive of a price that will HIDE your IP and identity on internet, just do a google and u see what i mean
