Vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has suggested that men and dinosaurs coexisted on an Earth created 6,000 years ago, a report says.

Scientists believe that most dinosaurs became extinct about 65 million years ago.

A local music teacher at Wasilla told the Los Angeles Times that soon after Sarah Palin was elected the mayor of the Alaskan town, she told him that, "Dinosaurs and humans walked the Earth at the same time."

A startled Philip Munger, who teaches music at the University of Alaska in Anchorage, then confronted the newly elected mayor about prehistoric fossils and tracks dating back millions of years.

Palin responded by saying that "she had seen pictures of human footprints inside the tracks," Munger recalled.

According to the report, Palin's view shares the idea of "young Earth creationism" - which holds God created the Earth about 6,000 years ago, and dinosaurs and humans coexisted early on.

While only 35 days are left until the general election, Sarah Palin - who was tapped as Republican presidential nominee John McCain's running mate on Aug 29 - remains relatively unknown on the national stage.

John McCain, who celebrated his 72nd birthday on Aug 29, has made it clear that should he win the White House bid in 2008, he would not seek a second term.

According to the actuarial tables insurance companies use to evaluate customers, there is a roughly 1 in 3 chance that a 72-year-old man will not reach the age of 80 - without factoring in individual medical history, such as McCain's lengthy battles with potentially lethal skin cancer.

After Palin's painful interview with CBS's Katie Couric on Sep 24, pundits now question whether the Alaska governor is qualified to run the United States.

In her interview, Gov. Palin failed to convince viewers of her understanding of the country's ailing economy. She also managed to raise eyebrows after failing to prove her foreign policy credentials.

That's even funnier considering that she has gone on record to say that Creationism should be taught in schools. According to the math that Creationists often use, the Earth and all living things on it were created about 10,000 years ago in an unusually busy week...

I'm glad we have Palin's antics to laugh at as the structure of the modern world economy goes down the crapper...

If it goes as expected she will more than likely look like that guy that Ross Perot had for a VP nomination and leave the Republicans in disbelief.

I read the title to this thread, and I almost started gibbering like a madman. I hope for all of our sakes this isnt true. I kinda hate to knock someones religious beliefs, but if she really DOES believe this we're more fucked than I thought.

if 1 day would maybe equal 1 million then the earth would be 7 million year old and man has been here for 1 million if man was created on day 7 or if he was created around lunch time(lol) man would be half a million years old.

I'm not saying I don't believe she thinks this is true, because it fits perfectly with my other impressions of her as a loopy ding-dong, but I would like it better corroborated. Is there a link? Or, better yet, an interview with one of these people who said she told them these things?

The Catholic Church does not support the belief that that earth is only 6,000 years old. Not that they're right about much else.

Maybe Palin's understanding of dinosaurs comes form a new branch of natural history called "Palinontology."

somebody should tell her that episodes of 'the flinstones' don't count as scientific evidence.

Of course Palin might be right. I wasn't there in the dinosaur age and I'm thinking no one else alive was there either. So it has as much validity as any other theory. It can't be proven one way or the other. Thats why its called a theory.
