I'll be the first to admit that I know little of Katie Couric or her journalistic skills. However, interviews are not hard. You answer questions honestly and with information.

The rest was not too bad, definitely not VP caliber, but not as bad as you might fear.

But all joking aside, does Palin actually have any responsibility for defending Alaskan airspace from Russia? I'm not sure even what the real point is that she is trying to make here. It's some colorful imagery, but what does it even mean?

I think something is going wrong for her. I watched a bit more of these interview clips on various news channels, and it seems like she has lost her confidence. She gets kind of stammery and flumoxed. My very first impression of her was that she could speak well, even if I didn't agree with anything she said and I thought her beliefs were wacko. She still seemed to be able to deliver her remarks.
I think after the Gibson interview and the "Bush Doctrine" flub, the campaign pulled her out of the game too long, and she lost her nerve.
i thought she performed well at the repub convention...i heard that her teleprompter malfunctioned temporarily and she didn't lose her composure...
we've already seen her A game
giving a prepared speech full of empty rhetoric to a friendly audience is a lot easier than an unscripted televised interview, and the tv interview is a lot easier than a confrontational debate in front of a live audience
i wonder how her debate training is going...
The debate is probably going to be embarrassing...
But maybe this is just an elaborate way of setting low expectations, and she is going to eat Biden alive.

Right now, I think McCain is starting to look a bit childish, especially with his impulsive "campaign suspension" (he still performed campaign functions while it was supposedly suspended) and trying to postpone the debate. I think Obama's a really smart guy and will learn quickly if he gets in office.
There's another one. McCain has literally 0 executive experience, and we're hoping for him to take the most demanding executive job at the ripe old age of 72. How long is it going to take him to learn the basics?

I am still baffled as to why Palin was chosen to be VP(besides the fact to get women votes). I enjoy all the badgering about people not being "qualified" or "experienced" enough to be the prez or vp. No one is experienced or qualified. It is definitely a learn as you go job. You just have to make sure the people running are reasonably intelligent and has the balls to not allow "yes men" in your cabinet. Something bush never did and McCain is encapable of doing. Obama appears to be very intelligent but I don't know if he has the cajones for the job.
