With John McCain calling to cancel Friday??s presidential debate and the host university pressing forward with preparations, two third party candidates have offered to step in so the show can go on.
Barack Obama has dismissed McCain??s call to delay Friday??s debate, but that didn??t stop independent candidate Ralph Nader and the Libertarian Party??s Bob Barr from contacting the scheduled host, Jim Lehrer, and offering themselves as stand-ins. ??There are two other candidates that cover a wide girth of real estate across the political spectrum who have fresh approaches on how to deal with the economic challenges facing our country,? a spokesman wrote on behalf of Nader and Barr.
Both candidates have seized on the latest Wall Street crisis and the proposed $700 billion rescue plan as evidence of their prescience. ??I told you so,? scolded Barr in one recent release, criticizing the series of bailouts from the Bush administration and accusing McCain of betraying the free market principles that once defined the GOP.
Nader was on Capitol Hill Tuesday criticizing the influence of big business in government ?? what he calls ??the corporate fascism dominating Washington.? He called the recent exchanges before the congressional committees ??stampede hearings? meant to scare members of Congress into ceding their constitutional authority. ??Look at the dictatorial demand by Bush and Paulson for total authority, total immunity, and zero judicial review. This is fascism ?? to bail out Wall Street.?
After decades of calling for greater oversight of financial markets, holding conferences to voice concerns about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and ?? as recently as July ?? warning that the federal government??s bank insurance fund could be insufficient, the current financial crisis is bittersweet vindication for Nader. ??You can be right and right and right,? he said. ??If you??re right in sports prediction, if you??re right in business prediction, you get all kinds of awards. We don??t even get quoted.?

Of course they won't be included, but it's hillarious that they are offereing to take McCain's spot if he won't show up! And it is also true that they have been warning about the problem.

Yesterday McCain said he wouldn't show, but I'm still seeing comercials on CNN saying the debate will go on.

At that time is wasn't the "flavor of the week". Giving out low interest housing loans to families that couldn't afford them was. You know, the Democratic way of life. Now Uncle Sam and all the intelligent people that didn't sign their names down to loans that they couldn't pay are going to pay for the stupid.
Now when good ol' Uncle Sam buys up all these investments, as they've been talking about, will these assclowns receive eviction notices for lack of payment? You can't buy a $100,000 house making $12/hour. "Oh, you mean I still have to pay for heat, phone, cable, taxes and feed my family? NOT FAIR!"

This $700 Billion isn't about bailing out the guy who took out the loan he can't afford --- he is definitely getting the eviction notice. Out on your ass! No bailout for you! It's about bailing out the dumbass who loaned the money to the guy who can't pay! "Oh, you mean you decided to pay for heat, phone, cable, taxes and feed your family instead of pay me back? NOT FAIR!"
I don't let the guy who took out a loan he couldn't afford off the hook, but apparently the guy who definitely should have known better, the guy whose JOB it is to qualify only people who can pay, that guy is too big to fail. These people loaned out money to people they knew had no ability to pay, and now the taxpayers have to buy these bad loans up to keep the fucking economy from tanking. You're blaming the millions of people who made a big mistake in their own personal finance, a mistake that is going to cost them plenty, and not the people whose JOB it is to know better?
Also, it is not fair to say that all of these people facing foreclsure are simply dumbasses who should have known better. Many of them are, but also the economy has lost 600,000 jobs already this year. How many of those foreclosures do you think are due to someone who had a perfect ability to pay last year, but lost his job this year? How many do you think are due to someone who could pay last year but got sick without insurance and can't pay now?
I think the bailout is necessary, but you can see where the anger and resentment comes from. There's no money to help out someone who made a bad choice and is stuck in a bad loan they can't pay. There is no money to keep someone who lost their job from losing their house. There is no money for healthcare. But there is $700 billion overnight for a Wall Street crisis that most people don't see affecting them personally. Of course, it will affect them personally, even if they don't see how. But they can definitely see how this other stuff affects them, and there is no help from the government on that. There is never any money for everyday problems that normal people have been facing for years, but suddenly in less than a week there is $700 billion for people who most normal folks think of as rich.
It looks like the government has been bullshitting for years about not being able to pay for ordinary people's problems, but they can take those ordinary taxpayers money and give it away to rich folks at the drop of a hat. It's not as simple as that, but you can't blame people for seeing it that way.

Dumb asses the borrowed the money and dumb asses gave it away. McCain warned of this with Fannie and Freddie but the dems feel that EVERYONE has a constitutional right to own a house whether they can afford it or not.
Check out the approval rate for Congress....they have really taken a hit since "06". Isn't that when the dems took over?

Well Ron Paul has been telling people this was going to happen, and IS telling people the dollar is going to crash, I just wish they would pay attention and think logically..soon the dollar is going to smack people in the face just as this problem has..the solutions these idiots are offering isn't going to do anything to solve it, just as he's said..it's just sad..
