1 metre square grow room - scrog grow - advice needed

Hi

I am building a 1 m2 grow room in an outside location (an out building). I plan on using a 1m nft system, 400w hps with cool hood, 150 fan with carbon kit. I will be growing scrog and think that a meter should be enough height for the set up if I have the screen at 10 inch. I will be lining the box with insulation, plastic sheeting and mylor. There will be a small fan to circulate air and an intake whole(no fan as Im not sure i need it?????). I will have a msall heater for the winter months and a small heater for my nutrients. I will have the fan kit on 24/7...?

I have a number of areas I am not to sure about...

Is the light ok or should I go for a 600?

How good are carbon filters reall? I need to be super stealth!!

How noisy will my fan kit be? can it be heard from close by(never needeed one in the past)?

Is my room going to be way to low?

What you're wanting to do is probably a bad idea for a multitude of reasons.

Think about security, stealth, controlling pests, controlling temps, controlling humidity.

If you're going to grow outside then just grow outside somewhere stealthily. Plant your plant among other things that can disguise it.

If you want to grow inside then just grow inside where you can control all the conditions.

There is nothing stealthy about an outbuilding that has noise coming from it and some slight odor (or complete odor if you don't use a scrubber) and light coming through it at regular intervals.. Unless you own a pretty decent sized chunk of land, don't have nosy neighbors and can secure it 100%.. I would say forget about it.

That's just my opinion though.

A cubic meter is not enough to grow pot in a fully-contained outdoor setup. You will lose so much space to gear and insulation and climate control crap, you might as well just grow outdoors.

Set up a tiny veg space indoors to get your seedlings started in about March or April so you can set them out well-rooted and healthy after last frost.

Thanks for your feedback guys...a little dissapointing to say the least(I am hoping I miss communicated my set up!).

I have friends who grow in cab's, in shed's and dont seem to have any problems if using a small heater in the winter months (tube heater) and a heater for the feed/nutes. The cab will be meter square, (actually bigger than that, I have decided I could go up another 12") and will be within a 8 x 5 ft shed(room within a room, a bit like an attick grow...). The warm air will be vented into the shed the cab is in, hopefully keeping the ambient temps ok. I was planning on making silencers for my fan and light proofing the door to the shed. I will also use odour eliminating lights in the shed so as to eliminate any smells that leak from the box. The cab will be completely sealed and hopefully the negative pressure will keep the smells from leaking out of the in take...so hopefully it will indeed be odourless and light proof(apart from when Im in there poking about)

Im not saying you guys are wrong in any way, just hoping you miss understood my plan.

I understood completely.. *I* would not take the risk or put them in an environment that would be harsh. So I stand by what I say in my post and would probably either just grow directly outdoors or inside; both which are safer from a security standpoint than growing out in a shed.

Maybe you should ask one of your friends since you already know they're successful. You seem set on growing this way.

Is there any one out there who has actually tried to grow as I am?...in a garage or out building, what were your experiences, would you suggest it? im thinking not from the response so far but someone with real experience would be really helpfull.

I have tried growing in tiny spaces that were hard to heat. Not an outbuilding, but an uninsulated attic crawlspace in Merry Olde New England, where winter temps dip down to -10'F and summer highs go up to 110'.

Even attached to a home where temps were more stable, my plants suffered and were it not for the extra space I had to run heaters and a/c, they would have died. The actual space for the plants themselves was 1x2 meters on the floor by 1 meter high- and it was too small. They grew right up into the lights and fried. I had to swap out the HIDs for tube flouros and limp them to a pathetic harvest. You're gonna spend more than the equivalent of 500 USD just to make the place useable, and it's not worth it.
Why can't you grow in your house? That's the logical solution....

Balls! it doesnt look good then!...I would ideally grow in the house but my wife is keen to keep it external. will work on that one.

Remind your wife that in legal terms, whether inside or outside it is all your property; however, outside there are different standards by which search warrants are approved, not to mention those pesky neighborhood kids happening upon a gold mine whilst tryin' to steal your lawnmower!
And it will cost much less in electric and startup to do it indoors, in a cellar if you have one.

my last grow was in my shed it is possible the heating was a issue but i did get it under control.I couldn't grow in summer because of heat issues the only
reason i'm growing in my house this year is the next door neighbors had to know what i was doing seeing me going to the shed every night and when it snowed my shed was the only shed that didnt have snow on it (big giveaway)

I live in the south and I only grow in the winter due to heat issues.I have a room that is approximately 3x4x4h and although i have to grow smaller plants ,i still manage a respectful harvest.I have developed a system by which I start from seeds ,eliminate the males and flower the girls,harvest ,but leave a little growth and turn the light cycle back up to 18/6 and veg them all over again.Doing it this way ,I can harvest 3 crops per year.Bottom line is simply this ...if you have a solveable problem ,solve it and move on.every individual circumstance dictates what that solution is.Mine is a good situation inspite of being right in the middle of a city.Stealth grow ops are actually easy if you understand human nature.The last place they expect to find something is the last place they'll look for it.
