New to forums, 1st Grow in new spot. What do you think?
Just wanted to post some pics of my current project in my new space. Currently running only one 400w HPS with Hortilux Eye bulb. Unknown strain, just from a random dank nug, wanted to get new spot dialed in before I run with my strains. Currently vegging some MK Ultra and Green Crack/Mango. Cant wait to flower em out, let me know what you think. All comments are welcome.

Looking very nice and healthy:thumbsup:
The only suggestion I have is: How close is the light to the plants? looks to be a little to far up for a 400 watt. Other than that it looks perfect.
Nice grow:thumbsup:

Bulb to canopy is about 16". Temp at canopy is 80F. Showing a little heat stress but ventilation is a problem in a rental, I can only do so many mods. Have to make due with what's feasable on this one. Thanks for the compliments tho, much appreciated.

They look nice...
Are you gonna let the younger plants catch up to the older ones...before you flower?...only one light/one room?
....anyways...with Fall, maybe that will help with temps?...introduce fresh air as often as possible. 400 watt HPS/Hortilux...RULES...:smokin:

16'' inches is perfect for a 400 watt light:thumbsup: the camera must have made it look more than that.
Other than that your grow looks like a veteran's grow, not anywhere near a newbies grow. You obviously did your research and it paid off:thumbsup:

Dutch-
I have converted one of those cheap extra closet things from WalMart to be a veg spot. No intense light, im running a mix of cool and warm CFL's and their only mission is to keep the photoperiod right. I'm vegging the small strains for about 8 hours each day under the HPS and then returning them to the "closet" when it's lights out. I know it's high maintenance but I figured I should take max advantage of the HPS, and the Hortilux doesn't seem to be causing any stretching. I'll be cloning them in about a week to find a couple suitable mothers and then Im going to try a SOG with the strains. I have attached pics of my "closet" and if anyone wants to know how to build one it was hella cheap.
Jerry
Thanks for all the enthusiasm, I'll try to keep this updated through harvest. Appreciate all the kindness going on right now. Keep it green.

Lit up- I did top this one, actually I did the FIM technique on it and it produced all those tops. I also lollipopped the plant during it's first week of flower. Also early harvested 2 branches that were underproducing in hopes of fattening up what was left on the plant. From my eyes everything looks to have worked according to the predictions. Couldn't be happier.
Southern- Thank you for the kind words, nothing will make people keep posting pics and shit like some compliments. More to come soon.

FIM stands for "Fuck I Missed"...
It's said that this is what the person said when he/she was cutting off the top and missed leaving the bottom third of the cola...
SORRY about the thread jack irydyum, real nice grow you have there!!!:420thought:

Here's what FIM did to this bad boy at about 1 month of veg.
Pic 1- Best pic I have of what the cut looks like right after it's done.
Pic 2- Here is what happened to it 5 days later, it developed multiple tops from the one cut. The leaves are all goofy shape because they were already arranged on a cellular level when I made the cut, so some of the leaf was gone before it emerged. The next nodes to come out were perfectly proportioned.

Here's the specs you were looking for, sorry I'm short on time so I have to make this brief.
Soil- Mixture of FoxFarm Planting Mix and Happy Frog with vermiculite and I also keep about 100 live redworms in my compost bin so they end up in the soil as well. Excellent for replenishing nitrogen and aerating the soil for root development. Also have read that they bring beneficial bacteria and fungi to the party, someone else may be able to expound on this or maybe we should start a thread on it.
Pots- started in 16oz bottles with tops cut off and drainage holes drilled in them. Transplanted to 2 gallon pots from there with same soil mix. A little aside about transplanting. If you are transplanting from one container to another it helps to have an extra of the smaller one to create a negative in the larger pot. In other words, I put an empty container in my larger pot and backfill around it, then gently pull out the small container and it leaves me a perfect negative to drop the transplant into. I usually have zero transplant shock doing it this way.
Lights- Veg, running mixture of cool and warm CFL's. Have 6 @ 65w/light.
Flower, 400w HPS Hortilux Eye
Nutes- Veg, FoxFarm Grow Big, Maxicrop Liquified Seaweed, Earth Juice Assist
Flower, FoxFarm Tiger Bloom, Organa Guano, Earth Juice Assist, and Sweet
I vegged this time for about 2 months (so I could clone) and then flowered. Plants were about 2' when flowering began and I used Bushmaster to cease upward growth.
Any other questions about specs, I'm an open book.
DT - No sweat on the threadjack I'm just happy people are stopping by with their 2 cents. Thanks for the props.
Dutch, as an aside to your message. I spent about 2 years studying all of this before I ever stuck seed one in the ground. I made a promise to my fiance that we would smoke my product instead of the street bullshit, and here I am with my first real xmas tree lot. Can't even describe the feeling. Can't say that I didn't make some mistakes along the way, but all in all I'm happy with my setup for now.:smokebong:
Just a little pic to wet the appetite some.

I don't think these will need any explanation. 100% cloudy white crystals just like I like em, 2 mos veg, 2 mos flower, lickin lips waiting to medicate. Thanks everyone for following, I'll be starting a new thread sooner than later.

As I was researching the threads, I ran across yours. Beautiful grow. I hope to accomplish what you did next year. If I can get some good smoke off my plants this year, I'll be happy. You've done a great job and your finace will be proud! Congrats!!!

Really good job with the grow. I use the HPS too for my clones and the rest on the time I use some natural white CFL. I'm quite sure you'll like a lot more to smoke your own stock at least you know how they have been grown and there is some pride making it taste better !

irydyum, you said you used bushmaster to cease upward growth...can u explain wat bushmaster is? ive never heard of it.

New to forums, 1st Grow in new spot. What do you think?
It's a product from Humboldt County's own that stops upward growth and causes more of the lateral branches to get bigger and "bushier" for lack of another term. It claims to do this by changing some pathway within the plant to cause it to focus it differently. I'm not sure how it works, but you can see from the flowering plants in my pics that it caused about 7 rather large tops to grow at close to the same height. I didn't get much upward growth while flowering after I used it, so I think it does what it claims. Also those babies yielded about 45g/plant and they were only 24" tall. I think I'll be using it again since I have a height restriction. I posted a thread about it before I used it, if you just search for Bushmaster you can see what some others had to say.

Real nice looking plants Iry. Nice dark green leaves and white buds. Yummy.
I have also used bushmaster and it definitely ceased upward growth. I would suggest starting below the recommended dosage and then increase. It can fry plants if not used carefully.
I really just wanted to say hell of a job!
